After a long time of half-assed and sponned content made from two overworked men I am LIVING for this. This is exactly why I subscribed to Dan and Phil almost three years ago. Say that it's shipbaiting or fanservice all you want, this is the video that will make people want to subscribe to them. If this is what the videos are going to be like post-books/tours etc., I am in for the long haul. All of this said, for the love of god this better not just be a one time baking video exclusive where it's the only good thing we get in a year. I have a theory that Thursday is D&P's day off. I remember that Phil was telling in the liveshow that if you work for yourself/youtuber/work from home you need to have permanent days off every week like if you worked 5 days a week. I remember Tuesday being off day for Phil, couldn't remember second day, it was a couple years ago.

- Do you feel the same way about traditional celebrities? Is shipping them wrong? For example, singers or actors?

I'm not sure why you're feeling so defensive. This is like #NotAllMen mentality. If you feel that what I discuss doesn't apply to you then it doesn't. And if you can't see the problems I have with certain aspects of shipping real people then I'm sorry, but I've tried my best to honestly explain my own personal issue with it. I'm not the government, I'm not gonna ban the world from doing it. I'm just saying I dislike it when it reaches a certain threshold and I also explained to the OP why it's considered more icky than fictional shipping. And keep in mind this opinion is not just shared by me, it's not something I pulled out of my own ass, it's an opinion that does float around the internet.

By RPF I assume you mean real person fiction? I explained in my post: Write what you want. Draw what you want. Do it to practise or cause it makes you horny or you just wanna write about two guys having sex. You can still be part of a community and share and inspire art and fiction and NOT be invasive. You actually can do that. I love the fics that members here write! I actually do read them. I don't find anyone here being invasive because I haven't seen any member here (of the active ones at least) be pushy or shovey down peoples' throats.

I'm not insulting the phandom. I'm part of it, why would I be in it if I hated it? But it's true that a LOT of them act in a icky way, I mean in my youtube recommendations I've had at least three videos related to Dan's brother, and I haven't even kept up with the drama since 2012, like literally not touched a single link about his family or such. Saying "a lot of the phans" doesn't mean "all the phans". I think you guys are great. I think you're very smart and analytical and you're funny. I think crack phan videos are hilarious.

But in a fandom that spans millions of fans (assuming each sub is even casually active), or hundreds of thousands of actively participating fans, there are gonna be enough bad eggs to be something to discuss. The problem is that these bad eggs ruin the reputation of the rest of the basket. I think it's okay that I can talk and focus on these bad actions, without necessarily accusing the good ones.

If I discuss intense shipping to the point where it becomes creepy and/or invasive, it doesn't mean I am automatically grouping in the "good" shippers. This isn't gonna be the future of an #NotAllPhans movement. This is "the phans that do" (do the bad things I dislike).

I'm on a forum about Youtube gossip because

a) I enjoy D&P specifically and want to feel part of a community, even if I don't ship them as hard as some others, I want to feel equally as valid and welcome than if I was a "full-time shipper"

b) I have a policy of going to trash sites or lolcow or "that" place when I find someone new because my philosophy is to read the worst I can find about someone new. What I find people saying about them gives me a good gauge of the person. You won't find out the gritty reality of people wading through compliments and ass kissing. If the worst they can say about someone is their looks or some random personality trait then they are probably okay. But you find a lot of bullshit from these creators in trash forums that get deleted/ignored in praise-filled areas.

I will be one of the first people to defend this website. This place is a safe space for me to be a bit weird, a bit thirsty, a bit too analytical, and above all, safely enjoy their content without feeling threatened like I would if I was on tumblr, or twitter.

The very reason shipping real people can hurt their relationships and such is BECAUSE there are fans who cross the line. If there weren't any, then nobody would have an issue. Fans create and enjoy their own content, the creators do their own thing, everyone's happy. But seeing as shipping people can and has affected the people involved, then there is clearly something wrong that needs to be discussed.
