Damn, sounds like a good liveshow, totally watching that one tonight.

jaej thanks for the picture. ;) I agree about Chris - he's uncomfortable. Though I quite like that he is. If he's feeling bad he might as well talk about it, he's not alone after all. Question is if it helps him or anyone else at all. Or maybe the question is - does everything have to help? Does everything have to be constructive?
fancybum wrote:It's kind of funny that he's friends with Jimmy0010, and I get the same vibe from him about Dan. Jimmy likes Phil but is kind of dismissive about Dan (like when he & Charlie read out The Urge for that charity livestream), which probably is just because Dan is more closed off to strangers and they take that personally? I wonder if they all shit-talk him a bit in private.
I think they might. He's popular/iconic enough that people would shit-talk him the same way they talk about someone like Zoella, and from what we know he's not social/friendly with a lot of people so that will inspire less goodwill towards his person (even if Dan and Phil seem generally well-liked by everyone!) I don't think people actively dislike him - surely we would have heard some shade by now - but I often sense an air of... disregard? Like oh yeah Dan, he's hot and teen girls swoon over him and Phil, kk.

I'm sometimes curious about the personal growth Dan's achieved inbetween 2012 and now. He's SO humble now, almost like he's been humbled, you know? I get flashbacks to Charlieskies saying in 2013 that Dan pisses him off sometimes and... what more did he say? That Dan changed, let fame get to his head, something like that? Dan spent most of 2013 repeating in liveshows he didn't want to share opinions anymore and people just got upset when you did and you should be properly educated before opening your mouth - I'm guessing he was starting to get pretty self-conscious about his public image then and how he was perceived.

Been watching Chris on Younow for the past 1½ hours or so.

It's the first liveshow of his I've properly watched since the first one. Like I've caught a few minutes here and there of the other ones but not enough to form an opinion - but now when have lemme just say I'm so happy he's kept doing them! He's so much chiller and comfortable-seeming now than in the first, and he's so funny and charming and interesting and this is great.

I feel kinda bad now for uploading his first try at a liveshow onto Youtube, haha.

Aw I missed like half of today's stream but he did seem even more chatty and engaged than the last two (which were also p great). I was worried he wouldn't come back today because he felt the Wed show got weird and awkward and apologized for it. (I would blame that on the 'guesting' because (no offense to the lovely people he talked to), it was pretty cringe- he needs to watch a jacksfilms stream to see how to handle the interactions (short and efficient) or just better yet, avoid doing it I'm a grinch).

I didn't manage to do many timestamps for the most recent shows, but noted some things I found interesting:
On his twitch stream, near the end, he read out a comment that said "soon the chat will just be phan trash" and responded "Yeah, it happens. They're youtube royalty; no matter where you are on the internet, that'll be in the comments" (just stating matter-of-factly). That stream was kind of funny because he was genuinely frustrated with getting the sound levels to work (the gameplay was drowning out his voice) and was saying he needed a better setup 'like pewdiepie', which just made everybody tell him to ask pewdiepie ("I don't know pewdiepie!" and joked about the futility of sending him a message). He sounds like he actually does watch Felix's videos and said at some point that he does worry about him and "you can see it in his eyes sometimes" that all the gaming/editing etc takes a toll. That's why he just wants to stream and not be fussed with editing and 'being entertaining' while playing.

On the Wed younow, around 1:32:00 he was talking about the "levels" beside the usernames and mentioned that he checked out Dan’s channel:

“I think Dan— I was looking at Dan’s channel yesterday and he’s got— he’s on level 90, and I want to get there. I want to get there.” And said just streaming long and often should do it eventually.

Which again: why not Phil's channel? He's basically par with Dan in fans/level on younow, but it's Dan that Chris looked into and is trying to 'catch up' to (and I wonder if he watched some of his previous broadcasts for some protips- today felt more 'Dan-like' in that he was more consistently talkative (less awkward silences lol)- but that could just be from getting more of a feel for it on his own. Although we do know he is aware of vyou1's channel and has maybe watched some of Dan's liveshows before anyway.. Idk, just thinking out loud).

Also near the end of that stream, he got very existential, for lack of a better word, about life and things, which I really really enjoyed listening to:
"Of course time doesn't exist-- it's a concept that was created to cause destabilization inside the conscious mind. There is no time, how can there be? You can't live in the past, you can't live in the future, you can only think about it, imagine it. You can only imagine the future, and you can only imagine the past. Even your memories are just what you imagine them to be; the older you get the more your memories turn into completely (memes/maims/idk?), you start to imagine your past being something completely different. There is no past, there is only the constant eruption of nowness. It's fact. [..]

"Thinking about the past or trying to think about the future, all that kind of stuff, means you go nowhere. Which is why the media-makers do it a lot: "What are you going to do with your life? Buy this product and you can have a much happier life. Do this and do that." And it doesn't exist. And they know it doesn't exist. But they make us want something that doesn't exist, therefore we never get it, and therefore we never stop spending our sweet sweet coin."
sorry i just really loved that bit, it's around 2:15
Anyway, I just love him and really appreciate the real-talk (along with the giraffe porn) - he genuinely makes me laugh out loud and his (seeming) lack of direction is painfully (and beautifully) (no-hashtag)relatable.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

Chris is reeling me in. I've only missed a total of about three hours of his streaming this week, between missing an hour on Monday and having to cut out early on one of his four hour days. I started out Sunday mostly neutral on him and a little bit wary but throughout the week he's hooked me. I feel almost like he's working some kind of Stockholm syndrome magic on me. By mid-afternoon (my time zone, which is when he's been going live) I was twitchy checking his twitter every few minutes to see if he was live yet. In five days I've grown to care a surprising amount about how he's doing and if he's happy and okay, so this is gonna suck when he stops.

I thought today was the most informative yet in terms of why he's drawn to younow right now and what he's getting out of it. He seemed more settled yesterday and today. I hope he does keep up momentum long enough to get Twitch going and stream himself playing games. I'm not a big gamer but it's always nice watching someone do something they enjoy.

This whole Chris sage is definitely interesting. I watched the last half hour or so of his liveshow today. I just can't understand it yet, but am definitely intrigued. He said he would be on again tomorrow.

I'm very late in saying this, but felucca I really appreciated that cut down video you put together a few days ago as I had to pop out of that live stream before it was over. Aaaand fancybum, I can not express to you how thankful I am for your summaries, especially that time-stamped one mid-workday when I desperately wanted to know what he was saying.

These live-streams are making so happy, not only because it's just nice to have Chris active online, but because we're getting so much insight into the way he thinks and just.... I find him fascinating and I know it's futile, but I hope he keeps it up.

I'll probably have something more meaningful to add later on when I'm not exhausted from a ridiculous week.

This was great. Although I had never heard about the game before (not a gamer at all), I enjoyed watching him play. Hopefully he will do some more gaming videos.

I love it, basically because I'm a Splatoon massive fan. I have been playing the game since the launch date. But I don't approve on his playing method... if you can kill a squid, do it! The satisfaction when their little souls return to the base

So I know PJ's 2016 resolution was to try and post on his main channel at least once a week, but the big has been uploading A LOT lately. I think we've been getting PJtheKick uploads every day for over a week, plus stuff on his main channel.

I'm not complaining of course; I adore PJ and I'm always hungry for more content. I'm curious as to what's sparking this recent explosion of creativity. Rent due? ;)

Speaking of PJ's side channel, he just uploaded this:

I'm loving his content on both channels! Tutorials, gaming, random stuff like this :thumb:
I'm thinking he is just really following on his resolution to post more.

Chris has left us again  Even though he said yesterday he would do a younow today. Sigh.

PJ's setup for recording Splatoon was pretty funny but just kind of made me roll my eyes at D&P for not filming non-PC games lately-- if they were properly motivated, dodgy capture software or whatever wouldn't be an obstacle.

18% male audience ("82% are the other one"): "there's some boys watching me, it doesn't really matter but it's always an interesting thing to think about. Why do girls like me so much? I know the answer, it's obvious."
(This part pissed me off as it always does when he thinks fangirls are only watching him because they think he's attractive. Who the hell is going to waste 4 hours on somebody for looks alone. Looking at a pic would be more efficient, but ok whatever)
I just want to comment on this pet peeve of mine and I have a bunch more stuff to say, but I still need to catch up on all this sudden crabstickz content.

If YT analytics are the same as Google analytics, then all they mean is that Chris' cahnnel attracts people whose interests are classified as feminine by Google, which could be something like 'watches vloggers', so it sometimes can end up being a bit of a catch 22. This happens a lot with gaming videos showing a mostly male audience when video games themselves are classified as a male interest. I mean, if it is based on Google analytics, then I'd show up in that 18% male category because Google thinks I'm male based on my search history.

I've been loving PJ's videos lately. I'm so thankful for his videos during this deppy content drought you have no idea.

Very happy to see way more videos on his side channel, particularly the ones about his lenses. I live for this shit. He could make an hour long video about it and I would still watch it. I just find it very interesting and passionate and I'm so here for this. Can't wait for the videos about his cameras because yeah basically I adore this content.
I also find him more and more funny. I loved this video about youtubers with Pewds, that's just humor right up my alley. And I just find him very funny and interesting in general. Love his creativity. I just love PJ a lot and I needed to tell you all apprently.

About Chris, I only started watching him a few months ago. Heard about him a lot through of course but I think the first videos I saw of him were the really depressing ones from a few weeks ago when he decided to upload three days in a row on YT.
As a twenty-something-bi-depressed-lonely-person-who's-never-been-in-a-serious-relationship-and-doesn't-know-what-to-do-with-their-life I can sadly relate a lot to him and I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I do like his content and I hope he can make it through. Because he seemed to be going through tough times for a long time and I just wish the best for him. Not feeling like you succeed in anything in life sucks. I watched a bit of his liveshows and was really enjoying it even if it could make me feel a little bit bitter sometimes but hey, let's see if we get some content on yt soon.

i relate to/agree with this way too much and it makes chris very relatable (without the friggin hastag) in a sometimes way too harsh/bitter/real way so i'm really intrigued and torn between extremes with my reactions towards him

I also really liked PJ's youtuber video, though it made me realize a lot of funny youtube videos nowadays require a bit of previous knowldge about other youtubers, which makes it difficult to show people.

I'm really glad that he's generally open about his feelings, as bitter as he is sometimes, because it is very refreshing to see someone who is obviously funny and talented expressing these types of sentiments. It's a level of relatability that feels very genuine mostly not trying to shade another youtuber here and offers a counterpoint to the common notion of where people should be a certain points of their life (as does this forum, tbh, I've never felt as normal about things I was insecure about before joining this forum).

Happy(?) to see I'm not the only one in this situation about his content.

But I agree about what you said, angrymob, that it gives a true counterpoint of where you're life is supposed to be when your in your twenties. It's comforting in some way but it still makes me feel very scared about it all even if I realise I'm not the only one in this situation. I don't know, watching Chris is confusing. Chris is confusing. Life is confusing.

I enjoyed PJ's last video on his main channel a lot.

I hate when people say that about Phil but I'm going to say it about PJ, I LOVE his creativity. It's this kind of things I wish I could come up with and it's exactly what I adore. His whole universe with colored lights and stuff like that, I just adore it. It's beautiful and I love what he comes up with.
The BTS video was great as well. It just makes me want to create, and it's very frustrating as well but I love it! Keep it up PJ.
