Y'all are so bloody tall. I feel like a tiny baby here.
Well, I have been stuck on 156cm/5'1" for some time already, so hello, how's the weather up there? Oh how many times do I get ignored/accidentaly punched to the face or boobs thanks to this. Add my poor posture...
My feet are tiny so my shoe size is EU 36/US 6/UK 3.5 appaz.

I'd say I'm a decent height, but my posture isn't great and most of my friends are tall, so people think I'm short 8-)
Twins! Well same height (165cm 5'5") and shoe size.

I'm 158cm and have EU36/35...the problem is when I'm around tall people and people mistake me for a high schoolar or when a lady in the supermarket jumped(as she was a gnome like me) for me to reach the bread that was obviously in the highest shelf :sobs:

Oh I know your pain with that age thing... My face is also soft and rounded so I look way younger. I study at (something like) grammar school and I blend in with the 11-13 years old kids in the 1st and 2nd grade, instead of my classmates... I mean come on, next year I'm going to be in the last grade of this school.
And I very vividly remember jumping up for pack of biscuits for like 10 minutes before some tall dude noticed and got them down for me.

I'm 168 cm, which is 5'6. My shoe size is EU39/UK5/US7
I would say that I’m average height wise, especially for females in the Netherlands.

I am 1m62 which i don't think is that small, but everyone is a fucking giant where i live so I am usually the shortest by far (except for my sister bless her, but she is younger too)

I don't.
Nah, usually it's ok, it's just the super-high instep that makes shoe shopping a total 'mare. Often I physically cannot get my feet into UK size 5 shoes, even though they'd be like stereotypical flappy clown shoes on me... Life ain't fair!!! :sobs:
Swear if I ever meet we'll be getting a "shoes" photo so we can laugh at how tiny they make my feet look, I think it's a fair trade since they'll be able to stand up straight for hugs/photo!

Oh really? I'm not a native so I can't say for sure but I thought the average for girls was even higher. I love it though, it's different :D
Being around 165-170cm I feel like is pretty good, you can still easily reach places  and pull off longer outerwear like trenchcoats. My mother is shorter than 165 and she gets lost in long coats, poor thing.

A bit over 169cm here, 5'7'' (didn't quuuuuite reach 170, damn it haha) + EU39

Do you have any preferences when it comes to your dates and their height? Usually I can only feel attracted to taller boys and it's a struggle when you add heels  (and I'm not even TALL)

The actual average heigth for a Dutch female is hard to find, because so far I've seen three different numbers already. It is all between 169cm and 171cm, so I'm at least very close to it.

Most of my male cousins are giants though, even my brother is really tall which is why I don't think that are all that tall. Having been surrounded by tall people my who life, their height isn’t really impressive to me.

lol, as the hobbit sized human, I don't really have preference in that. I sometimes wish I had gf that would be shorter than me, but that is like not happening. All girls I dated so far were just a bit taller than I and it was okay. Currently I'm seeing this girl and I'm to her shoulders. Which is... Kinda funny, tbh, as when I hug her, she either had to crouch a bit, or my face is in her boobs.
But idk why, I really like the extremes when it comes to this. The most attracted I am to either short girls like I am or those really tall. And I also like the tol/smol dynamic. It's funny and cute.

My exes were (are? I presume they haven't shrunk since(!) 6'7, 6'4 and 6'2. Sooo you could say I like 'em tall...! Really though, I'm all about eyes and personality and feeling cared about and sometimes for. Current partner says he's 6'... I just smile and nod. ;)

A face full of boobs isn't so bad ;)

For a long time I dated guys that were either a foot taller than me (or more) 6'5", 6'7", 6'9" and then I dated a couple of guys exactly my height. 5'5". However my husband is average height though (5'10 or 5'11 depending on how recently he's had a hair cut) which I still find really kind of weird.

It's not that likely I'd ever date a woman or a non-binary individual, but if I did I think I'd be the same in that they'd have to be my height or really tall.

I have a tech-related question that I thought some of you on here might be well-placed to answer:
How do you guys download youtube vids and keep the same/high quality when you download them? If I wanted to record/download something from vimeo in high quality, how would I go about that?

Tbh it's for a fanvid (not deppy) I'm thinking of making, and I need to download scenes, but I have literally no experience with this and googling turns up dodgy sites trying to advertise their services

Also [ahhhh] Chris would upload a 3 hr liveshow the week I have absolutely no time to watch, if he deletes it I'll honestly cry

I can't keep up with the main thread these days as it gains like 8 pages while I sleep but I want to believe #necklacegate think it's just a mic though

I just need to scream somewhere on here about Lemonade. Off-topic even for the off-topic thread but FUCK man has anyone else watched/listened to it yet?

I've been thrashing round to Don't Hurt Yourself for a solid half an hour.

Fuck. It. Up.

Edit - just to be vaguely on topic I'm 5'10 so I'm one of the bigguns

Oh my god yes! I watched it with my roommates and it was such a rollercoaster of emotions. I've only listened to it through twice but I absolutely loved the film it was so weird but beautifully shot. My favourite songs are Hold Up, Sorry, Daddy Lessons and Freedom

Bit late to the discussion but I have a weird fascination with height.

I'm 180cm/5'11 so I'm very obviously tall for a female anywhere in the world really.

I don't mind it. Being tall has become a weird part of my identity so if I were to suddenly be shorter I'd be mad. I just hate buying clothes. And I feel very awkward in my body sometimes too.

As for dating. I'm naturally attracted to guys that are taller than me. I don't mind a guy being a bit shorted than me but anything where they are obviously shorter than me is a really big turnoff for me. I've put off going on dates because I'm afraid they'll think I'm some freakishly tall monster too.
kooshka wrote:175cm/5'9" (?? iirc i have absolutely no idea how the imperial system works)!
Shoe size is EU40/41

I used to be very concious about my height when I was a teenager, since I grew pretty fast and spent a long time being way taller than everyone else. Made me feel super awkward and "big", I used to slouch so much and always felt like I took waaay too much space.
But thankfully that's all in the past and now it feels just ridiculous - I absolutely love being tall and I'm kinda disappointed I ended up being one of the smallest people in my family (both my mom's and dad's sides are giants, i think the average is like 180cm :D). Thank god for heels so I don't have to miss out entirely from feeling like a 200cm amazonian babe.
Are you me? haha this is basically how I feel. I shot up really quickly as a teenager and people pointed it out all the time like I didn't realise. I just kept getting taller though, so I had to get used it. I also don't feel tall around my family. I'm significantly taller than my mum (who jokingly gets shit for being a hobbit even though she'd be 5'8) but my brother is 6'4 and my dad is 6'3 so I'm basically short compared to them.

I love how people point stuff out like that, I mean I get annoyed enough every time I go to a different hairdresser and they comment about how much hair I have, which is a very specialised situation, not like being tall in public.

My "little" sister is 178cm tall (I'm 165) and she is taller than everyone else in our family, (My Dad is 165 and Mum is about 168) and she used to be so self conscious but now she wears 4" heels and leans on our heads.

One set of my grandparents were both 165, and the other set were 185cm and ~200cm, and I never know whether to be sad or happy about which ones I take after ;)

PS timtam your username always makes me homesick (I'm Australian, living in California). The only way it could be worse is if you were mintslice (it's not that bad really, for the last few years they've had original and caramel tim tams in the stores here, and, when that's not enough, there's an Australian import shop a few miles away where I can go spend $10 on a large pack of lolly snakes)

Waist length thiiiiick curly hair. Yuuuuuuup, I feel your pain. Used to get so fed up with trying to warn salons of that when making an appointment, then watching the hairdresser panic when I got there...! Luckily my cousin is a hairdresser/hairdressing tutor&assessor in a college these days, so she uses me as a Guinea pig/model for long styles etc, and I get a free haircut out of it. Everyone's a winner!

Worst thing was it always came from people who were quite short. I'd never point out to someone who is short that they are really short. I guess that has something to do with being tall being more attractive than being short I don't know because I'm not sure that's true.

I used to be very very skinny when I was younger. People, adults actually, used to point it out all the time. Telling me to eat hot dogs etc. I even had a doctor question why i was so skinny, There was nothing wrong with me. I just tended to snack a lot, I did a huge amount of sport as a child and was tall so the weight distributed upward. It made me so embarrassed about my body. It really screwed my confidence and self esteem when I started putting on a bit of weight in my late teens because even though I was like 'yes i might not be so ridiculously skinny now' it was a weird feeling.

But it's so amazing how supposedly harmless comments from people can get under your skin. I'm definitely okay with my height now and I'm okay with my weight as well.

adequack Aww! I don't even hugely love timtams, I was just eating one when I made an account on GG ages ago and was inspired. Mint slice is so much better! But that's so good that there is a Aussie lolly shop near by! When I was overseas I got so excited when I saw Australian stuff in the supermarket. It made me a bit less homesick sometimes.

When I was at uni I dated this guy who was 6'7". When we were talking one day he mentioned that one of the things that initially attracted him to me was how I didn't go "Wow you're tall do you play basketball?" as the first thing I said to him.

And Mint Slices are by far the superior chocolate biscuit! Here in the US people go crazy about Girl Scout Cookies' Thin Mints and I just shake my head at them pityingly.
