Why do people call them "Deppy"?

Why do people call them "Deppy"?
long story short, it was my nickname in my head for them, i accidentally typed it to friends one day in conversation, and it spread out to where some of these peeps were still posting on the Other Forum That Shall Not Be Named!
why do i call them deppy? i called them 'dep' (as in how i thought 'd&p' written would be said out loud)- till in 2015 i took a trip to Quebec, where they call their convenience stores 'dépanneurs'. i had to differentiate the guys from "getting some milk at the dep!"
...voila, DEPPY
(when they're ~fancy in suits i still call them dépanneur*. it's fun, try it)
