I love a dedicated boyfriend. Keeping track of their years together and ensuring there are many more. My gawd, I live for this commitment shit from them. Every time they casually commit to never separating, 9 more years are added to my life tbh.

Here's a thing from tonight:
If it was, in fact, "boyfriend"... I want to know what makes this any different than the 3,984 other similar male attraction and/or sex-related things people have brought up? Why'd Phil have to go changing this particular one, eh?

I think because it crosses their line as a little too inappropriate for a live audience that consists of some children and parents. Battery operated boyfriend is referencing a sex toy. It's the same reason they changed stuff like 'dildo' and 'furry porn'.

Yeah - I think this got deemed too much on the same grounds as the dildo, even though we all know they don't hesitate to say phallic or insinuate things. But naming sex toys like a dildo or a "b.o.b." are a step too far for their comfort level.

Also, for anyone keeping track, here's the running list of dirty things that Dan and/or Phil have been forced to pretend they didn't hear or purposefully mishear:

- dildo ("dil doll")
- wank sock ("dirty laundry")
- furry porn ("pg-13 furry fanart")
- battery operated boyfriend ("battery operated robot")

- 'dildo' being changed to 'dil doll' by Dan

- 'dan's furry paraphernalia' being changed to 'fursuit' by Phil (don't really know how that's much less innocent. I can only imagine what 'paraphernalia' phil was thinking of)
- 'battery operated boyfriend' being changed to 'battery operated robot' by Phil

There's probably some I've missed on this list too (I was just inspired by the 'battery operated boyfriend' thing from today's show, and remembered I'd heard a couple others being changed in past shows, because I found it amusing). Feel free to add to this list if anyone remembers any others.
I also cross-posted to tumblr before you added the wank sock to the list. Oh well

ahah no worries. I totally fail to check previous pages sometimes too, and I like that we were both on the same page about compiling the lists.

I just wish I'd remembered the wank sock for the tumblr post lol just so it was complete

I was at the London show and I could swear that the girl who said 'dil doll' did actually say dil doll.. just dragged out to make them uncomfortable/ make them say dildo?

I’ve never heard of a battery operated boyfriend. Is that a commonly known sex toy in the UK, like a Hitachi, or a bit more niche?

What I don’t understand:
why would they ask what’s hidden under Dan’s bed at all if they didn’t want not-quite-pg13 references from their audience? We’re a group of people who have continued to be amused by their innuendos for the last 9 years, and even if we weren’t—where is your mind supposed to go if not to buttplugs? What do people hide under their beds? I mean really, why would a grown man living with his soulmate hide anything under his bed??
Having asked myself these questions: I think perhaps they enjoy towing the line and an element of unpredictability in the show. Maybe that makes it funnier for them. It’s certainly funny for me.

Sorry to interrupt the current discussion, but does anyone else think the boys needed a haircut like... two weeks ago? :?
I like the quiff but not when it's half as tall as Phil's face. I understand they couldn't bring their hairdresser but I doubt their cuts are so complicated that an average American hairdresser can't replicate it. Or will we have gone back to square hair by the time the America leg is over?

...? That sounds like a brand of white goods. Who he?

(B.O.B. I had heard of, just thought it was slang, not an actual brand of vibe.)

I've also never heard of a Hitachi as a sex toy, just as a brand of electronics (and a cat in a lovely old book called Reilly).

It looks like Phil just has some minor bedhead in that ig story, though maybe not cos when he really had it, it was stuck up like he'd had an electric shock. Maybe he just doesnt always sweep it to the side?

I can't find the clip of Grace in Will & Grace saying "I'm just a girl from Schenectady!", something to do with wedding stress for some reason, or I'd send it to them and they'd hear the fricking pronunciation all right. Or if they just asked Google anyway.

I don't mind them not having had their haircut yet. They look cute with their hair so long, but that's just me. <3
I've heard of a Hitachi but not of the term "battery operated boyfriend". Poor deppy having to do mental gymnastics to keep the show somewhat PG-13

I know how to say Schenectady, and I'm sure they do too, though i did laugh at the insta story... However I did only just learn yesterday that Arkansaw isn't a separate place and is in fact just how you lot pronounce Arkansas.

I know "battery operated boyfriend" is a brand because I've seen the product in a branded box before - pink b.o.b. - but I do think (like Hitachi) it's one of those things that became slang as well. Or maybe it was slang first and someone just decided to snatch it up as a name? I'm not down on that niche of vibrator history. ;(But I am Hitachi! I'll stick that at the end since it's OT.)

Hmm. Most of the people I talked to who were at the show said they heard dildo, but I guess only that girl knows!

tbh four times in 50+ shows isn't bad. But I agree, they must have understood this could happen.

I'm just happy it is. Because lemme tell you, anyone who thinks the other parts of the show are made up is failing to acknowledge that entirely unprompted 90% of the shows still get 'fursuit' and 'dan's cereal' or something to do with Nick Jonas.

Fun and completely random fact, the Hitachi sex toy is by the Hitachi electronics company - it was genuinely marketed as a massager for sore muscles starting from when it was introduced in 1968 but almost no one has ever used it like that, to the extent that the company name started being associated with a sex toy more than electronics. Because they didn't want to be known as sex toy manufacturers in 2013 they stopped producing it under the brand name Hitachi and instead started producing it as the "Magic Wand Original" so it no longer has the Hitachi brand anywhere on it.

I have a question of which I don't really know where else I could ask it:

I started watching Adrian's video's, which got recommended to me when he was still at 700 views on his first video. I myself am making a video about "Youtubers I started watching" and I would like to mention him. Most of my own audience is linked to dnp, so now I'm wondering whether I should/ shouldn't mention him, and if I do, whether I should explain the connection or just ignore it and hope for the best?

tbh the last option is kind off Dan's tactic. Head in the sand and hope for the best hurray.

That’s such a sweet message and the first thing I thought was ‘oh no Phil got lost again.’

I find it odd that almost all the individual photos I see of them, it’s Phil and not Dan. Especially because I think on the phandom survey more people reported meeting dan individually than Phil individually. But I may be remembering that wrong.

Psychic Connections round - word: types of nuts
P: acorn
D: almond

D: Acorn?!
P: Acorn!
D: I know what an acorn is, why did you say it?
P: ‘Cause it’s a nut!
D: We… had almond… with cereal… THIS MORNING!
P: Your mum’s a nut.
So like... what I'm picking up here is that Dan goes full lactose-free when Phil's around. That is shit is adorable, but is he aware that he doesn't have to? Like... Dan, bb, you can still have regular milk in your cereal. Mozarella sticks? Go wild! Eat that ice cream!

I do not understand this level of dedication and love. No one in this world could make me give up cheese for them. Frankly, if y'all need phan proof, here it is...

I could absolutely see Dan politely trying to avoid these situations. Not that he doesn't want to meet fans, but maybe just wants to avoid being in pictures when he's not at his best. And tbh that would be me too, so i get it.

I think the numbers are so small that we can't draw good conclusions from them. But I do wonder if there is some effect of Phil "taking one for the team". I remember one story of a fan running into them in the train station when they were heading to Brighton. She got a picture with Phil but said she didn't try to approach Dan though he was there, since he appeared to be stressing figuring out where their train was.

Idk if I'd mention it, but if so, I wouldn't say anything about him being Dan's brother. If you recommend his channel, you shouldn't make it about dnp imo!
Chances are high though that someone in the comments will mention it anyway. Maybe you can put the words dan / phil on the blacklist for the video?

In the latest expansion pack (it was out last August), the god of war is the enemy and there was a bit before that when Rytlock went to the Mists to look for a special sword (it’s a kind of enter/astral plane or something in Guild Wars) and, I guess if I remember right, freed a prisoner who turned out to be that god of war. I forget where Kalla fits in, but she’s another Charr. Mists and humidity for the curly hair, too.
