Well that's some BULLLLLSHIRT.
Maybe selling the physical copies wasn't the only reason they barely mentioned the digital release, if it's only been made available for itunes and amazon in like 3 countries. Not mine, thanks so much. :tu: Ironic, when I remember their whole rant about "global releases" with Sue Perkins. I'm guessing that's the BBC release process to blame, or management, distribution rights, or whatever. But I can't say it doesn't annoy me a Lot that I have to wait a month to hopefully get my dvd before 2019.
Plus, we thought we were getting a high quality recording of the premiere and now we might only get an attempt at a live stream (which are usually such great quality btw)? wtf, man.

The liveshow was ofc adorable, I'm full dnp trash forever, but they continue to be at times very frustrating. :@*&!:

Also, a shallow complaint while my petty mood lasts lmao: what the hell is Phil's hair at this point. I love the exposed forehead but my santa wish is for someone to show him how to make the most of it, styling wise, instead of the lego 2.0 viagra edition he does now. Fight me (pls don't) but at this point I miss the softness and the shine of the fringe. Clueless hot guys, the bane of my existence.

Even if casual, they better bring some looks for the premiere. Frustrating cuties from hell. :kissyrat: :devious:
eternal dan and phil mood -> :happytears:

I've had 3 hours of sleep and I am confusion. They haven't even mentioned it being out on iTunes, or did they mention it in the ls? And considering I'm not from the UK, I can't buy it right? Not that I would, I'll be waiting for my physical copy until... Hopefully right before Christmas :(

The release seems a bit messy and I wonder if they will address it. Or maybe it's not messy and I'm just tired and confused haha

So something like a VPN probably wouldn't be effective on iTunes/Amazon right?

I don't plan on purchasing the DVD (I can't afford the expense rn, plus shipping for my country is a rip-off), but I wanted to try getting it via free trial on Amazon Prime... Is there a possibility that someone from one of those countries where it's available could do a rabbit for these people who counted on a digital copy but can't get one, or is that considered stealing? -_-

Distributing copyrighted material for free and without permission is definitely illegal.

So is it actually out on iTunes? Will we start seeing GIFs popping up soon? And what's the forum's policy on discussing the show, is it still spoilers until the Dvd is out?

It’s out on Google Play and a few others, I’m sure they said that, though I can’t remember which others. I’ve seen people ask if it’ll be coming to the Australia and New Zealand iTunes, it does seem weird to not have it everywhere. Why wouldn’t the platforms all want one more thing to sell? Business is weird. The shop doesn’t ship the dvd quite everywhere either and I don’t see people’s tweets being answered (the Philippines and Russia, I think, ironically).

It’s out on itunes in the US, but there’s no Directors Commentary, which is sort of why I bought it, so that’s a let down.

no it's been a recurring problem for me, on itunes / amzon France there are lots of stuff you can't get in VO so i already tried to use a VPN but it doesn't work (at least for me)

The funny thing is that on their website the dates for pre-orders for Australia etc are all there. This is so messy, and the commentary is literally the only thing I wanted since I already saw it, and they said it was coming on digital but it's not there? It's just fucking messy and I'm glad I didn't pay for it before reading stuff online

So the digital copy doesn't come with the commentary and it's not available worldwide? Welp, what a mess.

I am also concerned over the hypothetical viewing party they want to do because i'm not sure how that would work since people will get their copies on different times; i had to buy mine off Amazon UK (since the only version of the movie available on the Amazon of my Country was the American one and it costs 33€) and it should arrive on the 19th here but who knows.

Digital copy is out in Canada and it’s very cheap (I still ordered the DVD).

It’s only $3.99 CAD for the “Season Pass” which can be added to. ($3.02 USD or £2.35).

Season pass on which platform? I thought I would have to wait until my physical copy arrived, but I can do $3 As far as I can tell, it’s $10 on iTunes for the whole thing. $4 for the deleted scene.

Yeah gifs are up. And apparently there are special video messages exclusive iTunes. There’s one for Christmas. No idea when that can be watched, I only saw a still image. Maybe they alert you on the date when you order the season? Grrr.

I've been checking both iTunes and google play all day long but nope. Nothing. Apparently it's not available in my country. For TATINOF movies it's on google play but we had to wait about a month after the official release for the usual 'big' countries. What a bummer. I already ordered the DVD but still. :(

ITunes here. That price is for everything here (it’s fifty cents less to just buy the deleted scene 🤷‍♀️)

The more time passes the more upset I am that the commentary seem to only be on DVD cause I don't have a player. And I don't want to pay for shipping that will take a couple of weeks arriving probably while I'm out of town for Christmas.

Mod Note

Deciding how to handle spoilers for II on the forum has been a little difficult, with the digital and physical release dates being so far apart.

We’ve chosen to follow a similar approach to our spoiler policy at the release of tatinof.

We ask that any potential spoilers for II be posted within spoiler tags {you can learn how to use them here} until the start of the premiere - on Wednesday the 28th - after which open spoilers will be allowed. We’re aware that some people may not be able to watch the show until they receive their physical copy, but after considering the many disadvantages of enforcing spoilers for another two weeks, we feel that this will be the most fair way to handle spoilers. We’ll endeavour to post around the start of the premiere to remind people that open spoilers will be allowed.

As a reminder, publicly posting links to pirated content is against both our board rules and the service agreement we have with our host.

If you see a post that contains spoilers for II that are not within spoiler tags, please report the post. Reporting isn’t always a bad thing, it’s often the easiest way to let us mods know about an issue as we all get a notification, meaning that an issue can often be dealt with faster than sending a message to just one of us.

If you have any concerns about spoilers or our policy, please do send me a message.

Hey guys,
I've been a little absent the past weeks, but I've had an idea regarding the online shop and was wondering if some of you might agree with me.
I've noticed that they are shipping everything in these grey plastic bags, instead of using much more eco-friendly packaging such as cardboard boxes. I wanted to send them/the people who manage their online shop an email about it and suggest alternatives, but was unable to find any contact details. It might be better to contact them directly anyway.
You now might think that I am overreacting, or that there is no way they are going to change anything just because some fans ask them to. But fact is, reducing plastics in any way, even if it is just a rather small online shop, makes a difference.
And I've heard of other cases in which enough people came together and asked companies to reduce their plastic packaging, and in effect, they did. Now, as Dan and Phil come off as people who do already care about the environment, I think there might be a real chance that they are going to listen.

So, my plan would be to create a petition, collect enough signatures and then send it to them. What are your opinions on that? <3

Wait, I haven't been following. Have they previously given the impression that director's commentary will be available in digital copy as well as physical?

If so, and if people already preordered digital copies, I highly recommend everyone acknowledges they are misled consumers and demand refund /free physical copy / explanation / whatever

Dan and Phil definitely misspoke yesterday but before yesterday I was not under the impression that the digital release would contain the commentary. Mostly because they specifically said that the extras between the physical and the digital release were unique to each distribution method, and the box for the physical copy (that you can see on Amazon, etc) is what says commentary.

I do also think that anyone who pre-ordered it based on Dan and Phil saying it had commentary should be able to get a refund, though. They definitely confused themselves and everyone else in the liveshow yesterday. Phil said the dvd had commentary and then Dan said both did.

I specifically remember the liveshow after the dvd was announced and then saying the digital will definitely have the commentary and the only extra the physical copy had was the simulation game for obvious reasons, but I can't exactly remember which one was it and when

It sounds like you've decided against this approach, but the Dan and Phil Shop can be reached at [email protected] (source). For the US shop, the email address is [email protected] (source).

For the Australian shop, the email address is [email protected] (source).

I don't recall them ever saying commentary would be on the digital version until Dan corrected Phil last night.

So, I think the moral of the story is: Only listen to Phil in matters of merch and releases.

That said, I agree with those who say it's worth reaching out about it. Dan did mislead yesterday, so that's enough of a reason to ask for a refund. If you purchased through iTunes, they're fairly easy to get a refund out of on their own with a short explanation. (#beentheredonethat)

The digital version was definitely meant to have the commentary, I don’t know if it’ll be added later in which case it should be included in the price for the series/season pass, I think.

Eco packaging is a good idea, other companies’ plastic bags are recyclable, but not these. I keep them to reuse, but that takes up a few shelves in a cupboard. I’d sign a thing, anyway.

Yes, I agree that Dan has definitely always been under the impression that the digital downloads would come with directors' commentary. The first couple of receipts I've found are below. I'm still hopeful that the commentary will be added later.

I'm confused... Can I order a digital download from Amazon UK/US if I'm not from those countries? And even if I can, can I watch it? We don't have our own Amazon site where I live, and I don't own a dvd player or any Apple devices. And Google Play doesn't seem to have it, at least not yet. So I'm kind of out of options here? :help:

Although if it really doesn't have that directors commentary, I don't know what's the point. I have already seen the show twice, so I was way more exited about that. And yeah they definitely said right from the beginning that the digital version will have it.

I definitely agree that there have been multiple occasions in which it was implied that the digital download would include the deleted scene + the director's commentary and that the only thing exclusive to the DVD is the simulation game. When the DVDs were up for preorder, the newsletter stated:
The disc also comes with extras! A 'Deleted Scene' where Dan gets revenge, our Dan and Phil 'Director's Commentary' which is two straight hours of behind the scenes interesting information and irrelevant banter and exclusive to the physical copies - an 'Interactive Simulation Game' where you get to control our lives. Yep.
Sad to see that the director's commentary isn't available (yet) and that the movie doesn't seem to be available in a lot of countries, despite D&P often stating it would be easily accessible worldwide. It's not their fault of course but it is quite a shame.
