I'm late to the conversation, but as a self-declared hand-wringer I find Phil popping ibuprofen three times a week more worrisome than his apparently healthy MRIs.
While I understand that it's upsetting to see many people overwhelming Phil's social media with information about Chiari malformations I'm confident those people have only good intentions and are signal boosting because they're aware Phil won't see one or two comments from people with Chiari malformations unless they're reblogged a lot. However, as Phil has apparently deleted those comments on Youtube, I hope that campaign will stop as we can now be certain he's seen them.
For what it's worth, before the comments were deleted, the only people I saw who were claiming to have professional medical knowledge were those responding to the original comments by saying that the cerebellum looked normal on the MRIs Phil showed, or that the appropriate scans to diagnose a malformation were not shown.
When you share medical information on the internet, especially something as detailed as an MRI, you have to know you're going to get some people who see their own symptoms or diagnoses in you. Phil has to know that after all the time he's been a popular figure online. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the reason he stopped talking about his weekly headaches. That's just human nature. If all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail.
edit: aaand I'm top of the page. Let me just shove this tweet in here

Woo, Brazil info. That is soon, though, I hope everyone who wants to go and would be able to get there can do so with just two weeks’ notice. Too much to hope for maybe. Good that they’re making a full thing of it with the Q&A and filming it.
I didn’t realise ibuprofen can affect things if you take a lot over time. A few years ago I had a bad toothache for weeks and was alternating it with paracetamol every two hours for a few weeks. I was a bit worried, more about the paracetamol and rang the NHS helpline, but for my weight I was still well in the limits. Interesting that he’s deleted the comments, tbh I’m always surprised they see them even if there are a lot and people tag them cos there are fricking thousands of comments on everything.

yes! (thanks for reminding me i had forgotten to say that) especially because most people don't know / don't care that it's very dangerous (in the long term) to take ibuprofen on an empty stomach!
oh nono i wasn't talking about/disagreeing with what you said!!! i was just commenting on the youtube comment, sorry about that!LtrllySusan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 1:41 pmI didn't mean that I was waiting for someone to be smarter than his doctors, I was more looking for some general brain knowledge. Maybe there isn't much to say about brains?
Not too surprised that the comments are gone, but he must have expected that to happen?! The internet is terrible at not armchair-diagnosing and at not giving unsolicited advice. And the phandom is always worried and easily freaked out.
thanks to u guys, though, i've learned that ibuprofen is bad for you on an empty stomach + in large amounts (almost every day). noted, my sister takes it a lot and i should inform her.
YAY FOR BRAZIL UPDATES!!!!!!!

As someone who has Chiari Malformation (even had the brain surgery to "help", which is basically drilling an extra hole in your head) Doctors do miss it ALL THE TIME. It's crazy how often they just tell you "Oh it's stress. Oh your dehydrated. Oh you have kids, of course you have headaches" When in reality your brain is slipping into your spine and slowly smashing your brain and causing literal brain damage. It's one of those things where it's more common than doctors admit, but it also has a huge spectrum of how badly it affects people. Some it is just headaches, some never even know they have it, some get so bad they can't walk/swallow/talk/ start having seizures (That one was me!)ratlad wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 12:30 pmi'm not a doctor, but... there was an MRI and a Cat Scan done. i'm sure the doctors would see that and not keep it from him if it was something that serious. i hate the comment section on dnp's videos sometimes. most times.LtrllySusan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 9:27 am Full quote since it was the last post on the previous page:I was waiting for someone with medical knowledge to analyse the scansobvsly wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 7:42 am Loved the video! But I made the mistake of scrolling through the comments and now I’m slightly worried. There’s quite a few along this line:
Apparently it’s about how a part of his brain extends into spinal canal. I checked Facebook and people with the same conditions have posted about this too. I’m glad that at least he got checked up quite thoroughly this time but maybe he should also look it up and get a second opinion? But then again I read up on it a little and saw that other than in extreme cases that require surgery, doctors would recommend less stress and enough resting which is what he was told anyway.
Apart from what’s already been discussed here about the video, I love the fact that he mentioned PJ’s health video twice. I thought of that too while I watched Phil’s. Oh and I love the emoji pants shot. Interesting angle. Why this angle though? My mind went somewhere so maybe I should stop now...
Speaking about medical issues always invites armchair doctors, but since he actually included HD scans, I was wondering if something actually smart and legitimate would be said.
I was almost expecting him to say "and they said I have Chiari!" because his headaches did sound some so much like mine. (Not trying to diagnosed, just was thinking that was how it was gonna end). I even was giving a really hard eyeball to those MRI scans because I was wanting to be like "I KNEW IT" haha

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who instantly thought that. Ibuprofen alongside all that caffeine; hello stomach ulcer.
I really cannot get behind the theory that the doctor he saw just missed whatever people are saying he has. He was very clear in the video that he saw a doctor and then saw someone different, a specialist, a neurologist at that. It’s not just a general doctor.
My theory is that he was informed of it, if there really is something on the mri (I’m a nurse but don’t work in the neurology field) and he chose not to say anything hence why he is deleting comments. He knows what the phandom is like and if he said he had something wrong (even if it’s not dangerous) then wow the phandom would be crazy and ask way more questions.
I’m pleased for Brazil they get their premiere and also a VIP M&G event and the q&a. Can’t believe it’s next weekend though, they didn’t give much notice haha.
I'm of two minds, really. On one hand the test he described the doctor asking him to do was testing his cerebellar function specifically, so it makes me think that they might have suspected it. Also, with the doctor bringing him into a separate room to talk about the results of the CT scan, I'm inclined to think they told him a bit more than he implied in the video. No busy doctor on a Sunday evening is going to take the time to sit you down in a separate room to talk about your plumb normal CT scan...missemma wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 12:05 amI really cannot get behind the theory that the doctor he saw just missed whatever people are saying he has. On the other hand, if the doctor had seen the abnormality on the MRI and told him about it, Phil would've known that by putting the images up, people would play radiologist and spot the issue. If he didn't want to talk about it, he would not have included the MRI images. Knowingly including an abnormal image while saying everything is fine and expecting folk to believe you is some impressive cognitive dissonance.
Alas, we will never know. I hope for Phil's sake that he doesn't actually have it, or that if he does, it's been spotted and he's been advised on it.
I just really think Phil wouldn’t knowingly put scans out into the world if he knew there was something even remotely diagnosable on them. So to me, him choosing to leave information out of the video but then also showing his scans seems wildly improbable.

I'm also a little conflicted. Generally I would trust a professional doctor with my results in their hands more than some random anonymous comments on the internet with very limited information about the situation. That said, of course doctors can miss things that are rare or they don't know how to recognize and I do believe the people that say they have similar symptoms. Like a few of you said, Phil knows what he's doing when he puts those scans online but he also has every right to delete comments speculating about his health, because even if they were true for him they might cause trouble and worry for someone else reading them.
I'm so happy they finally could confirm the Brazil premier! Even if it's a consolation prize instead of a show I'm glad they made it work. Now, what is the DAPGOOSE-style name for this event? TIIMP (The Interactive Introverts Movie Premier)? TIILE (The Interactive Introverts Live Event)?

I'm mostly just relieved for them that Brazil is going ahead. It wasn't a smooth path, but credit to them for keeping trying to make it happen, can't fault them for that - and that is that a long way to travel for an approx 47 minute appearance (+VIPS).
Though they'll get some good promo out of it, and a video too (perhaps that's the next DINOF video sorted?) - and hopefully there'll be some snazzy Première fashion ...and popcorn surely, right Phil, there's gotta be popcorn?!
I'm (selfishly) a little worried about seeing spoilers after it - thinking about the "D+P commentary" etc (since they're giving out Blu-Rays in São Paulo on Nov 28, but it doesn't look to be out elsewhere until Dec 10) - oh well, I'll just need to try to avoid.
...or is that too close to TIIT and protip?

Haha, good question! DAPZIL? hmm...I'd probably lean towards TIIP (The Interactive Introverts Première)

I'm going to suggest BIIP (Brazil Interactive Introverts Premiere), mostly because to me it sounds like beep.
This was very funny in my head but I'm not so sure now that I'm typing it out.

Okay just getting around to reading that article and I'm surprised Dan liked it. It's just random social media quotes from a bunch of youtubers, the sort of people he doesn't tend to voluntarily associate with, cobbled together with his name splashed in the headline for I'm guessing clickbait purposes?
Maybe he did it for the II spon they threw in at the end. (Ngl, I'm digging their evasion of a label by referring to Phil as Dan's 'partner in crime' - that should just be how the identify now. Partners in crime.)

Shade aside, Dan and his YouTube partner in crime Phil Lester recently announced the release of their Interactive Introverts film following the tour of the same name.
