I watched a few during the phandom watch fests but apart from that i haven't, and usually i'm always putting dnp videos (or solo phil) in the background, for anything, cooking, shower, cleaning, getting ready. And now i don't. I think the announcement of the hiatus broke me.

Other than rewatching the favorite videos people listed, I haven't really watched dnp over the past... idk, 2 weeks? Maybe less. Of course we did the watch party last week though, which is a whole day of watching dnp for me - that kind of explains it too.

But yeah, I do feel a bit detached from them sometimes. I've been spending more time rewatching stuff from my other fandom, and even reading the fics from it. I'm definitely not falling out of the phandom though. I just don't want to keep my hopes up too high right now, so I fill my time in what way feels best.
On some days watching their joint content almost makes me sad lol. I miss them loads and since I don't know when we're getting all this back, it almost feels like a loss - even though I know they'll be back soon.

Same, especially the bolded part. For me it's the lack of engagement in form of liveshows or instastories or more personal tweets. The lack of joint videos or Dan videos would feel much less harsh if I still felt connected to them, but I don't right now. And that makes them less top of mind when I'm looking for something to watch.

I watched a gaming video last night and that was the first time I’ve watched dapg in a month. I still have a lot of love for those videos but like everyone else it’s just very bittersweet to watch them now.

I’m hoping Phil drops his video today so we have something fun today and I strongly suspect we aren’t getting an oscars picture so hopefully the video will help some of that disappointment.

I'm not rewatching dapg videos either for some of the same reasons others have mentioned. I miss them being stupid together

I am watching Phil's vids though and sincerely hope he posts today cause I could use a bit of cheering up. I dont think we'll get a sleeping Phil photo either, especially if he uploads. After all, that would count as their social media content for the day lol.

And as a random aside, last night i dreamt that Dan uploaded a video called "Why i like porn" and he had it all broken into sub-categories of his likes, Phil's likes, homemade porn, etc. Even in my dream i was like wtf Dan?

Huh... here I was thinking I didn’t really relate to the not watching dapg vids, but looking back at my history, I haven’t either. Both my husband and son wanted to rewatch the Sims series in early January (with me but separately mind you) we didn’t get very far either time. I’ve actually watched old Dan videos more than anything, introducing some of the storytimes and reasons why Dan’s a fail vid to my husband. But other than that it’s just bits of vids for research. I don’t think it’s really conscious on my part. There are a few gaming videos I’ve been meaning to rewatch as people mentioning them, but I’ve been watching more series on Netflix than YouTube.

This video isn’t going to be the dates one is it? He said that was for possible future use, in a message mentioning filming this one, yeah? I feel like a baby bird waiting for a regurgitated worm from Phil. Feed us! (please)

i was just going to pop in to say how i'm rewatching a bunch of dapg videos tonight and laughing a lot because they're stupid and cute. it's actually the channel i rewatch videos from the most. i love it a lot and am adamant on keeping my good feelings about it rn haha, even if we can be realistic about its future. we just don't know. if i speculate i either set myself up for disappointment or make myself feel sad, so i'm kind of rolling with whatever rn i think, it's easier to deal with missing them when i do that

I haven't rewatched any videos this year and didn't even finish Phil's last video It sucks when you can tell an interest is fading cause you can't force it to return. I hope that Dan's and the joint content's comeback can get me more excited about DnP again. The only reason I've been here the last weeks is because of habit.

I've re-watched loads of gaming videos the last week or so, and a few from their separate channels too (though still mostly joint content ones). They make me laugh a lot! Even if it's tinged with a sad nostalgia.

It wasn't even that long ago they posted the last gaming videos, it just feels like ages (for me) because we don't know when we're going to get another for the foreseeable future.

I still think they've got something cooking they are keeping quiet

I've been rewatching a lot of joint content actually, and some old Phil videos as well. I tried giving dinof a go, I swear I did, but my frustration at Dan combined with that channel never being my favourite isn't hiding well.

I'm not expecting anything from tonight so I'm at least not feeling disappointed by the lack of video!

I've actually spent a lot of time rewatching videos. Mostly dapg videos because I do enjoy joint content the most, but I've tried a bit of a variety with my faves across all channels. I typically rewatch a lot, though, and I haven't been in a great place lately so I've been rewatching more than usual to cheer me up. I also (maybe not as much recently as I'd like, but I'm still trying) have been reading fic, but I feel like that's a given for me anyway. I love the influx in fic since the hiatus, though, it's really nice to see (even if I'm terribly behind lol).

I hope Phil uploads but at this point I'm not holding my breath. I'm sure we'll get a few oscars tweets though, probably mostly from Dan.

It is hard to stay a fan of dan and Phil right now because it’s like “what are you a fan of?” Especially dan.
I hope they have some secret project but at the same time abandoning your fan base for 3 months doesn’t seem like a good strategy to launch a secret project, so I kinda feel like they don’t.

I can’t imagine a 3 month “break” would be enjoyable but that’s just my not-millionaire perspective talking, lol. Obviously dan’s allowed to not post anything ever again if he doesn’t want to but inevitably he will lose fans by doing this. It’s hard to be a “fan” of someone who doesn’t do anything.

So yeah I’m feeling disillusioned. I know they don’t owe me anything, by the way. I’m just expressing how I feel.

Phil has been radio silent today and it’s unlike him to not even drop a tweet about the video going up another day. I’m assuming he decided to train for the oscars this year by taking a long nap and that’s why he’s been so quiet. In the meantime I’ve resorted to offline hobbies to tide me over

I wrote out this long post about traditional fandoms and how they operate in a hiatus period vs new media fandoms where the expectation is nonstop content with an appropriate level of intimacy and lack of fourth wall, andddddd then I deleted it because I'm not really sure that's what people even wanna talk about right now.

In fact, I don't know what people want to talk about, besides group therapy sessions over feeling bad about Dan and Phil. But if anyone out there is looking for reassurance (and if you're not, it's fine, just skip the rest of this paragraph): it's not been that long. It hasn't even been two full months since the last video. It has been about one month of actual DAPG hiatus started. Dan... okay, Dan's gonna do his Dan thing, and who knows what to expect from him when. But this is not as bleak as the emotional overtone would have you believe.

And there is a lot of stuff to do in fandom if you're someone who enjoys fandom for the community and not just as a reactive center for the most recently posted piece of content. I know different people are here for different reasons, and if you really are only interested in fandom when it's the immediate aftermath of something posted, cool. That must suck right now. But for anyone else: now's the time to read the fuck out of some fic, there's a lot being posted! Or write some! Start talking to new people! Learn how to gif! Only came into the fandom in recent years? Dig into the old stuff, write some comparative essays on Dan and Phil then and now. We have a whole FAQs section of posts. Go look through the drug deal, watch some of the old deleted things.

Specifically speaking to this forum, nothing Dan and Phil is off topic here. Bring up stuff that's years old. Bring up old conversations you remember being interesting that you didn't get to participate in before, if you want. Right now is the perfect time for that. If you're someone that's been around for years, discuss how you think the fandom has changed, that'd be really interesting. Or just wild times you remember that newer phandom members might not have been here for. Fandom doesn't stop because there isn't a video unless we make it into a self-fulfilling prophecy and decide it has to be that way, that there's nothing interesting without Dan and Phil providing it.
