Deppy not returning to radio1 what even is the point of living? I am all for Phil rebranding (koala picture is 100x better than that deer in the headlight face he does all the time tho) but no more radio 1 makes me wanna cry for real.

I LOVED IT. It made me so happy that he did such a good video with the sketches and the story telling. It was so good i could have cried. I loved Phil's over the top acting and Dan over the top everything. The only thing that I didn't like as much was the part with the muffin at the end. I liked that it was there as a "life line" during the whole story as an embodiment of abnegation but I didn't really like the delivery of his last lines "I enjoyed every goddamn bite" or whatever he said or the fact that the air hostess asking him if she could take it went nowhere. I think his writing and storytelling was a bit worse in this last part. But overall amazing video
also honestly the inclusion of Phil's name in every sentence gave me heart palpitation. Like you couldn't do a more married/boyfriendy video if you tried hard. The way he said "I went to get my muffin, which Phil said was ridiculous, but I was gonna eat it" is such a boyfriend thing to say, I was actually kinda shocked he would say that on his main channel.

and just after watching that video and thinking to myself that REALLY that was such a shit video and Marcus you know bless him is such a bad youtuber/entertainer etc.
So just after watching that terrible thing I saw Phil uploaded a quiz video and I had a small freakout. Like omg is this a sign? and it turns out Phil's video was cute. Phil IS cute. He is watchable, he is likable, he is kinda entertaining. "Dan's crotch... that's enough quizzing for today" was hilarious. His video was him taking ridiculous quizzes about himself on we the unicorn website though. Like. And perfectly 10 min to be good with the algorithm.
You can't do a more filler video, a more exploiting the youtube system and fandom video, a more conventional and empty video. And after that I saw the part of his liveshow where he said he really liked making that video, and it was him and it was satisfying or whatever he said. And he seemed really happy with it.
So all this made me come to the conclusion, that you know I like Phil, he seems like a genuinely nice guy, he is Dan's bud, he is nice to his fans... but I don't get Phil at all. I don't understand him or his persona, I don't understand what he does on youtube, I don't understand how he can be so satisfied with the content he does (when he is arguably quite a creative and interesting person, you know I think from the snippets of real Phil that we sometimes see)
I went on his channel and I think it is pretty sad. Here are the videos he did this year (except the anime one it was last year in December)

So i will keep being confused but honestly I have to laugh when I keep reading comments on youtube or tumblr that whine Phil "deserves" more subscribers or "Phil is so original and creative".

One thing that I really really dislike in Phil's video was his way of talking tho. I noticed in his "creepy dolls watch me sleep" video too but here it was even more flagrant. I understand you have to make yourself sound more excited and enthusiastic than usual to be on video otherwise you can look apathic even though you are not.
But I think there is a limit. You can look enthusiastic without looking/sounding like the duracell rabbit on crack. It makes everything look so unnatural because it sounds like he learnt his text by heart and is just reciting as fast as he can without breathing. And I don't think it is the case, i don't think his videos are that rehearsed but it comes across as that to me.
I really really dislike it, it makes it look so fake. And he is not like that on his liveshow where he doesn't sound bored (at least recently) or when with other people on his channel, so I just wish he could drop that 10000x hyped up version of himself because I can't stand it.

the Dapgo video :

the concept was nice with doing the promo for the book but putting it in the background and having fans in the video. I didn't like that video at all however. Obviously the saving point was having our darlas from IDB featured lol (and also Dan cracking up when he said "Dan and Phil go outside, that's actually what we decided to call it" was really cute) but I didn't think most of the creations they chose were particularly funny or worth reacting to in general and I didn't like/find interest in their reactions either except for the trash one. I think that video was done very quickly and it showed. I definitely won't rewatch.

Other things:

onision: meh. He knows he is acting in bad faith. He is an asshole. Some people are stupid enough to side with him. Sad and horribly frustrating. This shit happens all the time tho. Every day everywhere.

I love love love all the interactions we have now. Twitter, insta, the come back of live shows. It really make a world of difference. Also that avalanche of content is so great! I hope they keep it coming and don't stop for a month again.
That behind the scene video of Phil hitting his suitcase i do think Dan sounded both fond and indifferent (let's be honest it happens to Phil 100 times a day). I also think everytime we get Dan's voice off camera commenting on Phil doing something, it always sound kinda like in a porno to me.

Did Dan own the moth shirt in 2012 though? I thought that he bought it in 2013 or later. My memory is failing me, does anybody know the first time we saw him wear that? I am also very curious about this video because I have never seen it or even heard anything about it.

OH THANK FUCK THE CHIBI RAWR HEADER IS GONE. I wasn't enjoying a man in his late twenties having the header of a 13 year old in their random XD phase. I hope he gets something new done soon, and I hope he retires his channel art as well. However I'm not very pleased with the standard weird face in his new icon, I liked seeing an actual smile in the koala picture a lot better.

And with Phil's change of bio it seems like the radio shows are officially dead...

I'm guessing Dan will confirm the end of their time at R1 in his liveshow today? (they better do it TOGETHER though, it was their thing so it'd be ridiculous to hear it only from Dan). He didn't talk last week, but I guess he had to wait for BBCR1 to present their new schedule. I'm upset about it, the radio shows were a highlight of my week/month and I miss them dearly as I'm not interested in their liveshows. I remember when they got that gig and I was so happy for them, so sad to see it end.

I wonder how it came to an end, because I feel like it's a recent development. D&P and R1 were adamant about their tour break being temporary, but I'm guessing their contracts were up and that negotiations took place recently... Did D&P get too expensive? A long time ago in a liveshow Dan said something that they were getting paid more than what the BBC wanted, and I imagine their value only went up. Or did they not succeed in BBCR1's quest to attract a younger audience after all? It was pretty much the main reason they were hired, and I can imagine that while the phandom all tuned in for D&P they didn't stick with the station for other shows.

idk but i don't think the photo was took in their flat, unless they added another furniture. The wooden surface the pot is on has two tiny little holes on it, and next to it is two rectangular shadow. I don't think any place in their flat look like this.

I'm kinda confused by your argument and would like to understand it better. This is why: If you look at what I bolded you will see that you contradict yourself. "I loved Phil's over the top acting and Dan's over the top everything" and then later you criticize Phil on his "way of talking" because it's "like the duracell rabbit on crack." I'm confused about what else "over the top" could mean. It also seems like you're okay with Dan being energetic but not Phil. That also confuses me.

and of course Phil has a few vloggy anecdotal videos...which reminds me of Dan's new video about nearly blinding himself...which you loved. Not to mention they both frequently do collabs with each other on their own channels.

I'm not trying to say their content is identical, because obviously it's not, but I feel like their content is in the same genre or on the same plane. I fail to see how Phil's content is less original, less creative, less entertaining, less deserving of views than Dan's. You seem to be speaking as if it's obvious how different they are when you just take a look, however when I took a look I found that they were even more similar than I had originally thought when you think about them objectively. Maybe it's Phil's personality that you dislike, but you claim to think he's "nice" and you dislike it when he yells. As I already said Dan yells a lot (i would argue more than Phil) so I'm really failing to see the fact behind your argument. Your opinion is of course not wrong, however I disagree with the points you made and I'm therefore confused about why you feel like Phil is so much less deserving than Dan.

I hope Dan doesnt do a liveshow today - take the day off and let the onion crap simmer down. By next week there will be new arguments that the fans will have moved onto. He doesnt deserve to have an hour of the chat box yelling at him. (However, if he does do one maybe it will be another snarky one, which is always fun for me anyway)

The Radio Show was fun. Maybe they just have to wait for someone elses contract to be up? There are only so many hours in the day. Does this mean they wont be hosting at the teen awards or Brits? Those are BBC productions right?

About the timing of the Dapgo bit. Phil was wearing the same shirt he wore in the liveshow that day. So either they filmed it later that night and edited it monday, or Phil put on the same shirt the next day lol.

I'm pretty surprised at the reaction to the radio show (possibly) being over....I didn't realize so many people loved it that much!

I liked it, but wasn't particularly attached to it I guess. Personally, I prefer their videos and liveshows. I did see the radio as a cool opportunity for them to branch out beyond youtube/general internet stuff, though.

Kinda sad to see it gone, but am super curious as to what's next. After dapgo release/ytr specials/european tour(??) they'll have pretty open schedules.

Do you guys think they'll just use that time to pay more attention to their channels (personally I'm hoping for a rebrand from both) or is there possibly another project in the works???
