The end result was very satisfying. Such a funny, quite long video. The game even made Phil swear, even though he broke off, it still counts. It's rare to hear him swear and when he did it before, he censored it. I will never comprehend how he manages to avoid swearing while playing competitive games :wtf:

- Phil is a powerful man, making Dan change for a video without too much complaining.

conspiracy theory: do you think it's an actual possibility that they put on ridiculous hats in order to make gifs/screenshots/compilations seem less, in the lack of a better word, private? like, in a gifset with them wearing golf hats it will always be immediately clear to anyone who sees it that they're not witnessing a private moment but that it's part of a gaming video and that they in turn are aware of us as an audience because it's why they put on the hats in the first place. i'm probably tinhatting at 500% but i was just wondering if it might be something they started doing more frequently (?) in the process of pushing/redifining their boundaries on screen. does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I finally signed up today (after months of lurking, hello everyone!) because of this moment. I wanted to ramble about it after replaying it for the hundredth time. It was so nice. At first Phil was like "what does this guy mean it's 3 to 5" and then the realisation kicks in and he gets this super soft look in his eyes while gently stroking punching Dan's cheek. But of course Dan is Dan so he gets his way. I think it's nice Phil did those two extra strokes, I don't think I would have done the same.

When they did it the first time I thought it might be to make gifsets more recognisably from that video, and more intriguing looking. Like if someone stumbles across one on tumblr, and doesn't watch the gaming channel, they're more likely to watch the video if they see it and think "wtf are those two dorks even wearing on their heads? is that a golf ball?" than if they think "oh it's those two again. cute. possibly gay. keep scrolling". I could be totally wrong about that though.

Your suggestion doesn't seem completely unreasonable to me. It will be harder to plausibly use the end clip of Phil "playing with Dan's hair" in a romantic phan music video because Phil is still wearing that ridiculous hat. People will probably crop and zoom to get the hat out of frame.

And points towards Dan's "disappoint everyone" aspiration, because I was initially disappointed that it wasn't Horse Prince after the build up of furry hype. However, that feeling lasted about 2 seconds into the video, so Dan's success with me was extremely limited.
