I like the signature GreenLight. :) I honesty think every person who considers themselves to be a part of the LGBT community should watch Paris Is Burning.
Did you ever heart that story about Dorian Corey from Paris is Burning and what happened when they opened a box they found in the back of her closet?
I agree, bedhead91. Paris Is Burning is so essential to the LGBT community, not only a showcase how far we've come but a reminder that there is still much more to go. The hate crime committed against Venus is even more prevalent after the Orlando tragedy. Things need to change.

On a lighter note, I wonder if ever watched Paris Is Burning, or at the least RuPaul's Drag Race.

Nice to see some boys on the forum as well, dudes are so underrepresented in this fandom. Apparently Jinkx Monsoon follows Phil on Twitter, which fills me with joy for so many reasons but I doubt they've ever watched the show. It does amuse me to imagine Jinkx watching their videos though. :D

Jinkx being Phil-trash is now my official headcanon. And so true about the male representation in the phandom, I had expected to find many, many more gay boys... Maybe because the phandom by and large is quite young, so before the time boys learn that liking not-particularly-boyish-things is okay?

And even if watch RPDR, they know better than to admit to it. Can you imagine how a particular subset of the phandom would react? It gets cringy enough as it is, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the phandom if they were to admit to watching the gayest show on television.

There is an old youtube channel that Jinhx used where he liked stuff by KickThePj and crabstickz (+delighted that Jinhx follows Phil on twitter ).
I can somehow see Dan making some meme out of watching RPDR instead of admitting to watching it unironically and a lot of phans believing him.

I don't know, I'd like it if Dan or Phil would acknowledge the show's existence, but I probably project way too much into them anyway. I don't get t decide what they like or don't like. I just "feeeeeeeeeel" like they should like certain things, talk about certain things. Fangirl syndrome. I mean, what I wouldn't give for a sly, of the cuff Absolutely Fabulous quote during one of their videos. Let alone a RPDR reference.

I'm sick, send help!

Yeah I get what you mean, I feel that things dan and phil like eventually become meaningless when the phandom come to explore and brand it so much the two might as well monetize it. I agree with you with wanting them to acknowledge or at least appreciate certain shows or fandoms that I don't think they would be opposed to. Who knows what they watch in private? Maybe one day

- Well I hate myself for this, but during a really dark and depressed period I painted a 3-foot-tall painting of Dan and I (which has been wiped out of existence and will never be found muahahaha).

- Martyn (Phil's brother)may or may not know about my petition, #DANLOVECAYLA2k16 on change.org. Don't ask how he knows but I hate myself for it.

-I live in a house of crazy religious assholes who have no gauge of mental health whatsoever so I compensate for Phan but that's ok bc I'm ok :D

-My guilty pleasure songs are: Me Too by Megan Trainor and Friday by Rebecca Black.

^ Cayla your intro post is one of the most intriguing on here. I hope you make more posts in the future.

side note: makes me smile to see males on the forum, I actually only know of (and interact) with a handful in the phandom. i too expected to see many more queer guys around when i first began watching, it's a perplexing phenomena.

Well hi there, I used to seriously lurk on GG but god knows whats happened with that.

Uhh..
- I used to do horsey roleplays on a site called MyDreamStable.com before it crashed and burned, last time I checked there were like 4 users and everyone's moved on.
- My first concert was X Factor Live back in 2009 but I lie and tell everyone it was Two Door Cinema Club.
- One year at the end of the school year we had an 'activity day' and I painted this giant canvas of pop art pikachus. It's a lot crappier than it sounds.
- I never had an emo phase and probably never will, I thought I wasn't depressed enough. How wrong I was.

That was truly enlightening and I've enjoyed reading all these posts

Hello there!! I'm thinking of when I did this kind of thing and I always lied at school or uni for some reason.

- I've been confused about Phil's head shape for a long time. I thought mine was just like his when someone gave me a bad haircut but I fixed it so I wonder if his is just his hair like it was mine.
- I am completely disgusted by most of the replies dnp receive on their twitter. I cringe a lot and shit I just want people to stop being creepy??
- I love blackhead and sebaceus filaments squeezing videos!!!! A lot!! I'm subscribed to a lot of channels that do this and I sleep watching those.

I'm crying bye everyone I don't even know if I can do this but I've been lurking here forever.

- So I'm one of those people who's been an on-and-off "fan" of D&P literally forever. Like, going way way back to before Dan moved to Manchester. Wow. There are traces of me all over the internet with relation to these two under various guises but I'm mostly a weird internet stalker 'cause inevitably my interest in them waxes and wanes. Right now I'm back in one of those "ugh god I'm so obsessed with you" phases but who knows it could be over by Wednesday.
- To be honest I just have way too much time on my hands after moving back to the UK from Spain recently and I need something to fill my days with before I go back to university.
- I'm in that weird thing where I was kind of lonely when I was younger and Dan and Phil felt like my only relatable friends when I was growing up. I stopped watching all of the other YouTubers I enjoyed when I was 15/16 a good few years ago, but for some reason I can't bring myself to let go of these two. I couldn't even begin to explain why.
- I pretend to have much cooler interests than over-analysing the actions of two men on the internet because by the time you're 20-something you're supposed to have grown out of that.
- Though my longest documented time in a fandom was that one time I was into Glee in a major way, sorry everyone.
- Also I struggle with being concise because I'm so full of opinion, whoops.

Let's be real I only registered to express my opinions on that roast because, well, damn boy.

Loved knowing some of you guys a little better, it didn't occurred to me to write on this thread so, better late than never.

- i'm a massive stalker, like Dan level of stalker, once I knew a guy I thought it was called gerard, that he was called jarrod and after 10 years I didn't knew what he was at and then i found someone who knew his aunt, and then I added his aunt and I found him on facebook, I google him and I found his full real name, youtube channel, his twitter, his entire family tree, his date and place of birth, a cop shot of him getting arrested for drinking underage on the street, where he worked (and where his mum worked), his phone number, and home adress and I saw his place of work and house on google maps. All that for a misplace name of him and misplace name of the only relative I knew (his aunt, i also had her name wrong but still found her).

- I actually didn't like Dan the first time I saw his videos, but then I checked others and started liking him, and I never really commented on his videos, until the 1st internet support group video when I commented that I just started watching him and love his videos and he REPLIED to me saying " it goes downhill from here", god he was right, here I am.

- And last but not least, I recently became a massive nerd, I discovered Doctor Who and then I went from nerd tv show to another, and now I have watched all of the MCU movies and tv, DCEU movies and DC TV universe shows, the X Men movies, read comics for the first time, actually took an interest for the Star Trek and Star Wars films and tv shows and I don't know where to stop. Before I honestly didn't care about that stuff and found nerd/fantasy/scifi stuff really stupid.

and yeah not so interesting (I don't have a particularly weird life to say something ridiculous about me), but yeah, if you want to know more about me (I don't care much about people knowing me very well :) ) just send me a message :)

wow this thread I've been lurking for some time now, I've read everything on the main thread and some others (and most of GG before that), but I don't know why I've never seen this one before, I've just finished reading it and I'm litterally crying, you are all so wonderful, there are so many not straight people here, is this a real life? sorry, I'm still mostly closeted, so I get very emotional about it

Just a couple of things about myself I'd have a hard time admitting:

- I have a problem with deducing people's relationship in real life which sometimes puts me in very embarrassing situations, like I literally have to see them kiss or have sex (preferably the former, because memories  ) or to be told in no ambiguous terms, so I'm always looking for clues with my friends to save myself (yep that explains my obsession with Deppy)

- I've been in fandoms and I've read smut fanfiction since I was 13, started with fem pairings then moved to slash because well written fem makes me think too much about my own life and that - no, thank you, I don't need fanfic to have an existential crisis, I can get there all by myself (I actually get them sometimes, I generally have a very high level of anxiety, I was able to get through freaking out after posting here for the first time only with copious amounts of alcohol, I'm an adult ffs :? )

- I'm actually planning on having a very public and very serious career (I'm a lawyer specialising in human rights) and I'm struggling with the place my obsession with pop culture should take in my public life (public online presence and such), like, it's not a respectable hobby, but then representation and gender roles in western media (which are consumed globally) sometimes really seem to matter more than another one of the endless UN resolutions on Syria which are always blocked by Russia, what's up with that
Dan wants to be understood. Phil just wants to make the viewer smile and sell some backpacks (c) fancybum

ahhh i also just caught up on this entire thread and i love the diversity of people here ;____; i thought i'd throw a few facts about me in too since everyone else was so willing to share

- just to get this out of the way: pro-avocado (i literally eat them with nothing else sometimes), meh on melons though i love melona bars, intj, slytherin / hufflepuff mix (i am 100% about finding ways to play & beat the game so i can get to a position where i can create a better environment for other people)
- currently studying medicine but not at a stage where you can send me pics of your weird rash :') though tbh will probably never be at a stage where you can send me pics of your weird rash...
- i overidentify with dan's weird brand of perfectionism, it's awful
- trying to get better at writing opinions on the internet and sticking by my opinions -- i miss the days of writing introspective posts behind friends lock on livejournal and don't feel comfortable sharing too much on tumblr because of the reblog system taking my posts out of my control. also the sometimes hostile environment on tumblr makes me really anxious about posting even the most mundane opinion because somehow i'm sure it'll get interpreted as Problematic. joining this forum was kind of a conscious step forward for me in hopefully getting over this weird anxiety. :)

coffeepenguin, i feel like i can relate to this quote because i'm hoping to have a dual career in medicine + writing (a la atul gawande and oliver sacks -- rip ;_____;) and i have no idea how open i want to be about so many aspects of my life. mine's only indirectly related whereas yours seems to be more strongly related though. it's a hard line to draw because i feel like a lot of the repression stems from us, who are really into pop culture / fandom, just being really self conscious about it whereas the majority of people looking from the outside in literally don't really care at all and will gloss over it. but at the same time, so reluctant to reveal anything about this... :( i hope you can figure it out and when you do you should come back and tell me lol

This is so true for me, too! (oh those glorious lj days...)

Well, if I ever figure it out I'll sure tell you, but I'm not even sure it's possible
It's actually very funny, becase right now I'm reading a lot about the recent french ban on "muslim" swimwear on the public beaches and it's just like discussions on this forum about Dan painting his nails, like, what does your clothes mean, is it a public statement, does society care, etc.

I don't have too much I wouldn't just blurt out because I'm a pretty boring person but..

- I will read fluff fics about anything - seriously it could be the love story of an apple and an orange overcoming their differences and becoming friends and I would love it.
- I Sometimes I lose whole days reading fics or watching videos and am surprised when my husband comes home from work and its dark outside. ooops.
- I hold back references to dinof videos a lot in conversation...hes just so relatable, but i know it would get annoying to talk about him whenever someone around me has a cringe attack or doesnt feel like going outside lol.
- I have a heavy nostalgia for 80's/early 90's barbie. I still have my barbies carefully preserved in my closet and will never let my children play with them because i don't want them to be ruined.

Hiya! I was a lurker on GG for the longest time and I created this account when you guys made the switch but I never really gathered up the courage to make my first post. Anyway, let's get down to bussiness:

- I am a massive (analytical) larrie, not ashamed to admit it. I've read huge amounts of posts, articles & masterposts; gathered up way too much knowledge on the show bussiness, celebrity management, etc than I know how to deal with; and (of course) read one too many fanfics.

- I own and read way too much lesbian erotica to make up for all of the YA m/f books I read when I was a teen and confused af about my sexuality.

- I suffer from hypochondria and I'm currently in the middle of an episode, which is why I decided it might be a good idea to distract myself with some healthy (ha, get it?) D&P discussions.

I think I'll have a go at this one.. Here I go!
-I'm not exactly sure, but.. In very fandom I've been to, there will be always those two guys that I'll ship together- even in irrational ways.
-I was disgusted of the thought of shipping real people together.. WAS
-I found Phil unattractive, initially. Initially because I'm a part of the PLDS. and that Phil is one adorable cinnamon bean (did I just typed that? Yes. Yes, I did).
-..I shipped Filthy Frank and iDubbbz. DON'T ASK ME.
Well, there you go! Those are some not-so-embarrassing things about me! :D
