This video is really interesting and honestly, i agree - i think gaming on youtube is dying. I wouldn't be surprised if dnp decided to just rebrand dapg as DanAndPhil, where they can do whatever they want (whether it's gaming, or general collabs, or vlogs - lol, as if - or liveshows - again, as if). However, there's one thing that makes me go 'hmmm' about a dapg rebrand, which is: if they really decide to have a channel for ALL their collabs, does that mean that Phil is willing to give up joint content on AP? (I'm not gonna talk about dinof because let's be real, the collabs on that channel have always been few and scattered.)

I think he'd actually like that. They've made a point of doing things seperately this year and while I do think joint content will be back on their terms, I think it will be handled a bit more professional (not the right word, but it's hot and I can't think). Phil's channel has been doing okay without joint content with Dan this year (and it would be doing great if he uploaded more regularly). I get that the joint videos are some of his most popular videos but he's doing alright without them.

I think a joint channel and no more joint content on their seperate channels makes a whole lot of sense. There's no way they're going to give up joint content alltogether but they've also made clear they'd like to be seen as seperate creators that work together sometimes, not a joint brand that always works together. Seperating their merch again, doing things on their own this year, I think staying off each others channels and having a seperate channel for joint content is the next logical step. (Also this is wishful thinking because I'd love it so much if they rebranded the gaming channel that way.)

Cristine's video has gone up... there must genuinely be a moratorium on anyone posting joint content of them, lol.

Joint content on the AmazingPhil channel has been a double edged sword for Phil for years. His videos with Dan were often among his most popular and they generated a lot of views, however it also automatically meant less engagement from people who only subbed for that type of content on solo videos. That kinda dragged the entire channel down. Now that PINOF is over and there is no type of Dan & Phil video that really has to be on his channel anymore, it really is the ideal time to move joint content to DAPG and let Phil re-establish AmazingPhil as his own space. Then he can hopefully gain more engagement from people interested in him as a person.

Is the shot of them posing for a fan photo at a party the only clip of them in Cristine's vlog? I watched it but I kept getting distracted.

If so, I suspect their current Youtube colleages are just a bit more professional than youtubers of the past and ask if they can film before doing it. I mean...

Oof, that vlogging compilation. Man, I really forgot how much Dan doesn't like vlogging.

I've had a little bit of a nostalgia trip today with Jamaica stuff and if anyone's bored and wants to revisit some stuff that may just ~hit differently~ I recommend this one. Just knowing where Dan was in his life then makes me want to bundle him up in warm blankets. A year before (fresh out of sixth form, hadn't started youtube at all, hadn't even really talked to Phil before) I bet he'd never have imagined that'd be the direction his life was going in.

I think Cristine only included the photos of dnp and their group outing again for her vlog because she could read the tone. Its pretty clear vlogging isn’t dnp’s style and I think a chill dinner without cameras came naturally. But who knows, maybe the boys are specifically telling people they don’t want to be in vlogs

Does anyone else have times when the most obscure dnp sentences will just pop into your head? I was on a cleaning spree today and randomly thought of Phil's comment "I would find my doppleganger and cook his shrimp hands."

I would love to hear some others if anyone wants to share!

side note: After going back and watching this bit of the video (What If Your Best Friend Secretly Hated You?) it really couldn't be a more perfect summary of Dan and Phil together. Dan is there waffling in his soft voice about living your truth and then Phil just responds with the most off the wall comment
Have a red velvet cupcake and for fucks sake, dip some toast in your soup. Bye.

The phrase "poop me up mr. banana" from one of Dan's old truth or dare videos pops in my head at least once a week and I have no clue why but I wish it didn't.

weird ! i was wondering earlier if other people have random word-triggers which bring to mind dnp quotes. i saw a pack of dates which were described as "sweet and jammy" and suddenly i had dan saying "jammy jammy 6am" from one of the fnaf videos going round in my head

Almost always something from whatever I’ve watched recently! Currently “I’m British and I walk on the pavement”

Also Dan’s ‘ERMAGERRRD’ from the Sims episode where Dil gets a dog, for some reason.

I used to have a knee long black hoodie cardigan thing, and every time I wore it I would think of "Pull my tail! It looks me look more like a dementor which is the look I'm going for" from festive ditl.

And of course, I'll be doing something mundane like doing the dishes or standing in a queue when "Obviously we were more than friends" pops up in my head and I'm just standing there smiling like a dork.

I can’t say that the phrases are quite that random/specific for me, it’s more facts/moments/situations that pop into my head rather that quotes.

Omg socksparadox that is so unfortunate. If only young Dan had realized he could just use the other end of the Guitar Hero controller, instead of hypothetically risking bacteria entering his brain and killing him.

I get the lizards song from pinof 6 stuck in my head all the time, as well as "I'm calm, I'm chill, I'm doing things with Phil" which I honestly cant remember the origin of anymore lmao but it's very much in my brain! Oh and like dizzy I also say "clam down" a lot, but mostly to myself lol

It's a shame that they've let the reignited hype die down. I thought they were back, considering the videos and the merch and social media activity, but now we're back to (basically) zero. This whole talk of 'onto the future' and 'the future looks bright' but nothing is happening... I'm personally not so sold on the moving theory, so I don't have that to hold onto.

(Longtime lurker but I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot the past week or two and couldn’t help but reply)

I think that may actually be intentional. Some of the hype is just because they (mostly Dan) were gone so long, but a lot of it is people drawn in (or back in) by them coming out.

While riding the hype would be a better business decision, I think it may feel to them like capitalizing off their private lives even if whatever they make has nothing to do with their relationship or queerness.

Dan made it clear in that he didn’t want to monetize their relationship and Phil made that comment about daily vloggers: they’re very private people and I can see them putting that above the hype.

For a while now I’ve had the feeling that they’re specifically waiting for things to settle (and waiting for a lot of the “hits different” emotion in the fan base to fade) so they can get back to normal without the next things they make being overshadowed.

“Giraffes are.... tol” and Dan’s mocking “is anyone else LEAVING?” from the final google feud video pops into my head far more often than I’m proud of but it makes me giggle every time!

I'm sorry but when I hear "Now I'm gonna go and" I think of Dan's diss track and when I hear "I'm more of a" and a pause, I automatically think "sausage in the evening kind of guy"

Also, the "obviously we were more than friends" just pops in my mind a lot.

Phil singing the guacamole song always gets stuck in my head for days. And everytime someone says "Cool story bro" i think of "Cool story Phil" and it makes me giggle.

Dan saying LITERALLY and WHOT, yep. Also when I'm pissed off or in a ranty mood i always whip out CAN A MATCH BOX NO BUT A TIN CAN just randomly, it just evokes the right emotion in me lol

I’m surprised this is a thing for so many other people! For me it’s usually very short phrases, sometimes even a word, but I remember and can hear in my head their intonation.

Literally right before I came to check IDB, Dan saying “What? WHAT?” from the spooky week Sims video popped into my head. And I’m sure Dan has said ‘what’ twice in a row lots of times, but I have a specific audio memory from right when the Sims option ‘woohoo as bats’ pops up.

‘I’m calm, I’m chill, I’m doing things with Phil’ is genuinely one of my favorite quotes. It’s from DAPG Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.
