Susanisnotafish wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 7:49 pm I want to make a recommendation of a couple YouTubers that I started watching recently and that have some similarities to deppy. They are brothers, so no shipping, but one of them has been in a relationship for 7 years, so something to admire and respect like deppy. He pretty much keeps his boyfriend off camera, but sometimes refers to him. The other brother is 19, so some early deppy vibes. These guys have even done a video playing Monopoly (like many of us have said we wished deppy would play board games), and they even have a podcast. Another plus is that these guys both upload very frequently (more than once a week). They are more natural and unscripted than deppy, which I like. They’re really sarcastic, but very sweet and give good advice to their podcast listeners. Jacob has a very Phil vibe with his “no filter” comments and unique thoughts. The podcast is also on YouTube. It’s called Bros Before Hos, but on YouTube it’s on a channel called the Lucas and Jacob Podcast. So if you want to check them out they’re channels are Lucas and Jacob Cruikshank.
I had no idea Fred had a boyfriend, in all his videos he doesn’t seem like the type lmao. He’s giving off a ‘single’ energy imo. They’re great though, I recommend them too:)
I thought of a few more similarities to deppy:
  • Both are gay
  • Their mom is sometimes in their videos and podcasts
  • Some videos give off a Dan and Phil Crafts vibe (I think bc they’re improvised and they have great chemistry)
  • Frequent mentioning of the name Susan

I made a poll on Twitter but I just wanna know everyone's opinions: last night I had a dream he dyed it black again cause he was tired of the brown, and also cut it while on lockdown, so that sparked my question.

I like all Phil but I gotta say I'm partial to the black, like Dan once put it, the black raven hair and snow white skin combo is quite striking (especially with those eyes!!)
Black 100000%. Phil looks great with the brown don't get me wrong, but the black is so much more striking (more "POW I'm Phil!"), gives him that kind of Snow White beauty. I'm also a big fan of reclaiming a decision you made as a teenager to be emo and like, turning it into something very chic.

Team Brown over here. To me the black was always a bit too stark. The brown makes him look softer and older and i really like that.

I always loved the black and now I love the brown more. I was so happy he felt comfortable going natural, even if he does still dye it, so idk, but the first photo he posted with it had that look on his face like he was thinking ‘please don’t reject me and my real hair’, it was sweet. It suits him so well, it’s a lovely colour in itself and it’s unusual, I don’t see many people with darker gingery hair.

Liveshow day! :stan:

I wonder what on earth gave Phil a mild concussion for his video. Then again, it's Phil. This man could get a concussion from being hit with a pillow, he's just that clumsy talented.

Good for Phil for telling us this week he’s taking a break from Younow after next weeks show. I appreciate advance notice. I hope he isn’t gone too long.

I got excited when he said he was gonna change up the format, kinda disappointed when he said he’ll take a break after next week but I can understand if maybe he’s not feeling it rn or just wants some time to rethink things. I hope he uses a different platform. Younow quality is just terrible and I missed the last few minutes bec it crashed. I was getting kinda worried when he was talking about his head but it sounds like he was being cautious after so I’ll trust it’s wasn’t serious. I enjoyed the uni stories but otherwise I feel like the vibe was kinda off on this livestream but maybe it’s just me.

Yes I appreciated it too!

I’m not usually one for moving theories but self-isolation is doing funny things to me. Maybe he’s taking time off with advance notice and warning us that the set might change because ... they’re ... moving?
He also talked about moving today (telling old stories about moving previously, responding to someone’s comment). Hmmmmm
I'm having a stress.

Ordinarily I *might* agree, but everyone's in lockdown at the moment, so there are no moves of any kind happening any time soon.

Given their tendency to say 'taking a break' and then not coming back I admit to worrying, but I do think he actually will carry on with the liveshows. Good for him changing it up if he isn't feeling it though, keeps it more interesting for us and him.

I loved the charity liveshow so much, I hope he goes back to a format that has more gaming and interactivity of some sort like that? I love his liveshows in general, and I'll really miss looking forward to them if the break is long, but at least we know he's thinking about changing things up and taking a break.

That was a fun liveshow, I laughed loudly a few times especially at the end at his ‘it was a hoot” pun. My cat was leaning on me asking for ear scratches too, was funny. I was glad to feel more relaxed as it went on as I’ve not slept enough lately and I was really feeling it. Also appreciate him telling us plainly about taking a break. I wonder what format(s) people would prefer. Everyone loved the charity one with the drawing game.

I don't trust them anymore when they talk about 'breaks' but what else do I have? Nothing. So I'm gonna sit quietly, pray that Phil leaves Younow for Twitch (a girl can dream) and then comes back to us soon :ribena:

I hope the gaming makes a return in his liveshows 3.0 format. It was a lot of fun.

Also Phil fyi, you're not paranoid about head injuries if you're a person who randomly fainted less than two years ago. Stop scaring me!

Yeah I didn’t feel like he was in a great mood at all. Of course it’s Phil so it’s hard to tell but he seemed distracted. He’s also been talking about crying and feeling sad a lot lately. Lockdown has us all going through it but it’s odd to hear Phil being so candid (for Phil) about it

I loved this liveshow it was So random and he had no structure to it, but he did say that usually he can talk about things he's done/planning and I think right now hes feeling a bit cooped up - who doesn't!

I also had a shiver of fear when he mentioned a break cause.. we all know how that has gone in the past, but I'm gonna be hopeful since he asked for opinions and such and mentioned the setup. Also money, money is good and he loves money and live show are a good cash influx. Please don't take it away from me Phil

Kinda died a bit at his mention of board game, he does realize he need someone else to play them right? I can totally see him trying to play with Norman, that's the thing

Excited for the video tomorrow, sequin has me intrigued
Will probably never be over the BONCAS and the beauty of Phil Lester.

Yeah I know. But delusion is more fun than being sad about this liveshow break. As far as I’m concerned, they’re moving in 2 weeks, into the forever home where they can have a dog. :tu:

I really appreciate his mixture of being somewhat candid about the negative emotions - not pretending they don't exist - but also clearly not wanting to linger on them. Hurting his head last week plus not getting to see his family for so long plus who knows what else he had going on professionally that got pushed back to axed because of this... I mean, we've all got our own sets of issues weighing down on us amplified by the lockdown but it's almost comforting to me to just feel that vibe from him and relate to it.

I have no opinion on them moving or not, and I can't speak for the situation in the UK, but where I live people are definitely still moving. I think mostly closing deals that were started before the pandemic, but moving is definitely still happening here, so I imagine it's similar in the UK?

Yeah, could be! I have no idea really, it just seems like a terrible idea, but if it has to go ahead then it has to go ahead. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Plus if Dan's things got pushed off or axed in some way they are both dealing with stress etc.

Here in italy everything is pretty much stuck, unless you actively got kicked out of a house (which is hard to begin with in normal circumstances let alone with all the safety net this pandemic has provided) - you can't move from where you live no matter what. I can't imagine Dan and Phil of all people doing a move, somethin that is chaotic to being with, during a pandemic but I also can't iimagine government allowing it. Like.. That means people. In and out living environment. I'm perplexed

But the UK isn't in a total lockdown like Italy is, or is it? Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know the exact details, but I think the UK is in a pretty similar situation isolation-wise to Canada. I definitely agree that nobody would be moving right now if they didn't absolutely have to (even if the deal is closed, they could stay in their current house if possible), but there are definitely situations where people aren't able to work out alternatives and still need to move (for example, if someone was waiting to move into a house and had no way of making alternative arrangements. Like in the situation of deppy, they would be able to wait to move into another house even if the deal had closed, but if someone was waiting to move into their current flat and had no alternative arrangements, they would be stuck and pretty much need to move out into the next house.)

(This is all just hypothetical of course because I don't even know why people think deppy are moving right now, I'm just pointing out that it's definitely not impossible to happen during the pandemic. People are currently moving at this time)

The thing is there is no visual “set” for his live-streams, just the green screen. I didn’t watch, but from what I can tell this doesn’t extend to his AP videos yeah? And again that background is ridiculously easy to replicate. I’m not convinced they’re moving (been burned too many times) but it is April so there’s is a higher chance. I am glad that his contract with YouNow is up and I hope he considers other platforms. I wouldn’t be surprised if we went another six months to a year without Phil liveshows though. I hope he’s doing alright.

I watch PJ's twitch streams and he has mentioned moving house several times. Last time he mentioned it last week, he said he and Sophie were moving "as soon as we are able" and he mentioned they WERE pretty far along in the process. He made it seem like they were ready to move and then it was put on hold. Seems like the UK put restrictions on moving?

Like autumnhearth, I too have been burned far too many times re: moving and feel like if ever there was a time for them to move... this maybe isn't it.

Realistically, I do think Phil just wants a break and the end of a younow contract seems like a good time to take one. I mean, selfishly, I don't love that he's taking said break at a time when we could all use a little MORE content, but... I don't have the emotional energy to really care enough at this point. I used 2% of it up on Dan and the other 98% on actual real life problems.

Phil likes to make an extra buck, so I'm of the opinion that he's stepping away for a bit and probably replacing live shows with some other form of content we're unaware of just yet. I feel like there's something in the works and he's gotta focus his energy on that.

Or maybe others are right and he just needs to take some time to deal with his own COVID-related stresses. It is what is. I can't say the loss of liveshows is going to significantly impact me and I'm honestly so glad he gave us advanced notice as opposed to revealing that the current LS would be the last. Now that's what I call.... character development.
