Will he be on video? I assume so, since he says he's hosting this live show. But then, there's also a question portion we're clicking on?? Is this built by a specific website or like... a live stream host/provider? Is this something Phil is developing since it's hosted on his site?
ETA: Also the email sign up looks a bit like Google's? Desktop's making it hard for me to fill it out. AHH what IS THIS?!
I have so many questions and am also SO EXCITED!!!

This is pretty cool. Phil has always spoke on his desire to do something similar to this!

I just hope he might upload a video before this thing Saturday and direct people to the Saturday thing like at the end of some old Phil vids he told people he would be doing a Younow on the weekend. I’m impatient. But excited that maybe this will be a weekly thing if it works well.

Curious curious. I'm always fairly skeptical about new platforms but that's just how I am, I'm interested to see what it's like. From the site dizzy linked, it looks like there's quite a bit of customization and set-up room so I'm curious to see what Phil has made of it. Also, while I assume there will be video, will it be live video or not? It seems like it could be either and I think live would be a lot more fun but it makes me think back to the youtube charity stream Phil quiz that, while fun, was a prerecorded piece played in a live show. My one annoyance using it so far is that it definitely is designed for mobile and the graphics and stuff don't seem to align great on desktop, but the website does mention plans to improve web use. I know it's probably not the case for a lot of people but I am very much a desktop over mobile person. I like my keyboard and mouse.alittledizzy wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:26 pmIt's a provider - this is the platform he's using. No age is too old to watch youtube videos and participate in thingsBecky.rigby wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 7:47 pm Wow excited for the Phil liveshowI am just wondering, as I’ve heard a lot from other youtubers that think their audience are teenagers. I am 25 and sometimes I feel weird watching dan and Phil videos and other YouTube videos like jacksepticeye and rose and Rosie. How old is too old to watch youtube videos and participate in like watching streams and tweeting etc as sometimes I feel weird, but why is their a time limit, like as soon as I turn 20 I should stop watching them even though I still enjoy their content?
I typed that from memory but I think it's pretty accurate. So time to take myself away

I’ve missed live shows a lot so I’m kinda disappointed I’ll be at work but hopefully he records it! Idk how I feel about quizzes but i guess Phil makes everything fun anyways!

Also, I really hope there are video parts in it, pre-recorded or not. Live would obviously be more exciting.
I wonder if these "prizes" will be 1. cheap/affordable enough that he continues doing this throughout the next few weeks/months.
2. In the very odd chance someone from a shitty country like mine, where shipping and postal service suck, actually won something, which again I doubt, it would be possible to just skip a physical prize and like... get a hi in a short video. I'm just thinking this would be the worst possible moment to get involved with the postal service. My galaxy backpack took 4 months to arrive and had to be resent back here three times
Don't mind me, just anticipating the scenario that would give me the most anxiety, I'm sorry.
I'm really excited tho. And Phil with that hair makes me want to say that phrase from Queer As Folk where Brian gets to the dance on season one and sees Daphne and says: "you look hot. I'd fuck you". (I'm sorry, I really wanted to make a QAF reference, don't mind me x2)
I should really go to sleep now

I'm really excited about this quiz thing! I won't be able to see it live on Saturday but I hope he does it on a regular basis. My dream would be for Phil to be a game show host on TV one day, so this is wonderful.
Re: age, I agree that age will differ a bit on different platforms, and in different circles on those platforms. My feed is almost exclusively 20+ because I chose to curate it that way, and IDB users tend to be slightly older than maybe the average Twitter phannie. See this thread.

A bit off topic but does anybody remember/know where to find when deppy mentioned their families coming to their shows (both TATINOF and II) I recall hearing them mention it in liveshows but I don't know which ones/which dates to look for.
I know Phil’s probably been more active this week because of the quiz show but it seems odd that he hasn’t mentioned a new video or even written a members post yet. I’m starting to think he’s trying to buy time to get away with not posting for awhile but I hope it’s not too long of a wait

I must say I am very confused about the use of ‘we’ a lot. He used it in the membership post and on the website

Yes sequins, yes sparkles, turn up that obnoxious glitteryness! I'm looking forward to seeing his new and improved take on disco ball realness from the NHS livestream.
What is this waves emoji as a merch hint?? Does it have to do with the design? Ocean theme? Fish theme? or the charity? My first thought at charity is of course queer stuff but like? Save the wales?? I have questions. I'm sure we'll know the answer soon. Also who's this 'we've'? Probably just reference to irl merch and the fact that Phil hasn't been working on it totally alone but shout out to a single use of a first person plural pronoun for making that little bit of my brain like !!!But!! It could be!!
Also I have been thinking of watching Jojo recently, as a coworker recommended it to me, now that Phil has also talked about it I might just have to go for it although starting something with so much to watch a few weeks before uni starts is maybe a really bad idea. If it is I'll blame Phil.

A tad too relatable for comfort but also not? I think the past few years getting used to adult life and cutting off toxic people has me not wanting to mimic or normalize the defense mechanisms that were necessary when I was younger but are toxic to me forming connections and being a kind person now
I hope Dan gets that too in some form even if that sounds patronizing af
I wonder if he will ever open up beyond a vague and cryptic sense about his childhood traumas. He’s certainly left breadcrumbs and shared anecdotes over the years, and BIG provided a huge insight, but there seems to still be something looming and unresolved. (and I can’t help think that the biggest antagonist in this story is his dad)

This is the kind of tweet that has me like “...okay. Anyway..”
(Still trying to think about occasions where Dan has been calm and resilient in the face of chaos, by the way.)

Hmm. I do wonder but I also think it's unlikely that he would speak tons about it, at least in a video sense. I feel like BIG was pretty clear on the verbal and physical abuse he experienced from peers and how that was traumatic and also how his home environment at the time didn't allow him respite and healing from those experiences then. It's a very personal thing and when it involves family it's something extremely complicated to talk about and tackle, even in a private setting. It's difficult to talk about those issues or depths of your experiences without causing people to draw connections to other people in your life that maybe aren't consenting to have their own difficult experiences known in that way. (If that makes sense? idk) Dan's comments on his home environment when he was struggling as a young person and what he said about keeping the topic of BIG on sexuality and not "violence, addiction, and health issues" seemed to me to be a pretty big nod that other nasty shit happened on the family front, but that wasn't the point of the video.Phantasy wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:53 pmI wonder if he will ever open up beyond a vague and cryptic sense about his childhood traumas. If he does ever talk about it in a video type format, not in a tweet that gives very little context I could see him eventually talking about how he worked through stuff and more of his therapy processings rather than experiences, because that would allow him to focus more on him and just speak of his experience without explicit connection to other people.
While this is very much true in what we see of Dan, how he is a mess dealing with stressful gaming situations and chaos in baking videos, etc., what his tweet really made me think of was some stuff I read towards the beginning of the George Floyd and BLM protests and when COVID-19 still felt new and world-tilting about how for people who grew up in environments that were chaotic, unsupportive, grief-filled, tumultuous or even terrifying, having the world feel like it's falling apart in all these different ways can feel oddly homely and comforting in a way. And with that, people can appear calm, unbothered, perhaps resilient when really the coping mechanisms learned from an unhealthy environment are surfacing and causing them to feel or appear that way.glitterintheair wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:56 pm (Still trying to think about occasions where Dan has been calm and resilient in the face of chaos, by the way.)
I say this mostly because it resonated with me in certain ways, how much or not it applies to Dan, we'll really never know and I don't think speculating too much is a great thing, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were at least pieces of similar things that played into the idea behind that tweet.
Wow, can you tell I just got off my meeting with my therapist to open IDB and have all these damn thoughts? Anyway, the world can be a stressful and horrible place sometimes, on personal and global levels. Take care of yourselves
