I didn't see the face down ass up rabbit until Phil pointed it out but it really made me laugh  thanks Phil
(although am I the only one that thinks maybe it is supposed to be sitting down, and is just tipped over?? that would be my guess)

It's interesting to hear people's varied reactions to the Madlibs. From some of Dan's reaction yesterday it did leave me feeling like maybe a line was crossed a little bit, but thinking back to 1. how they most likely have some sort of predictive text 2. they know their audience, and Dan was like 'don't be too crazy' on april fool's day so I feel like he really knew or at least should've seen it coming 3. with each of them choosing the messages for their stories, I lowkey wonder if they were having a little fun seeing if they could make the other laugh or have a strong reaction and 4. I mean, Dan was the one who made a tail butt plug reference a few weeks ago?? you reap what you sew buddy.
I personally love dirty humor, and I did find it a bit blunt, but also the collection of things in Phil's story fit together hilariously it was making me laugh 'cause it felt so much like some half-assed smut fic intro. I think my tastes (as well of quite a bit of dnp's humor, which is something I like) lean more towards suggestive things where the person who said it can act innocent and have a go at whoever interpreted it in a filthy way. One of the things I sent in was 'damp bed sheet' under that sort of reasoning. You thought it was sexy? That's just your filthy mind smh, maybe a cat pissed on it, maybe you spilled your morning tea on it, mayBE it just came out of the wash. Take it as you will.

Also the whole game concept reminded me of this video, which I hadn't watched in ages.

Honestly for a 2012 video it's kind of ok. There's a set of 3 halloween ones (from 2013) and he did it a bunch in liveshows around that time, like he mentioned in the video

Was it horrific but permissible as April Fool's madness?

Alas, I missed the ridiculous fun on here yesterday because of car trouble.
I get second hand embarrassment very easily and I must say I didn’t find that cringey at all, but also I’ll admit I am someone who finds cringey things that other people might not (ie telling them to get a dog for the 100th time, or if people had suggested them tame words like “houseplant” or “cereal”). I just found the whole thing incredibly funny because I thrive off good chaos and let’s be real: there’s no way they didn’t agree with the moderator beforehand about the type of messages to play. We’re talking about Dan and Phil.
Anyway, this is payback for the (too many) times we had to endure Dan tweeting/saying something horny for no reason. Now he knows how we feel.

you 100% know if people are sending you fruity messages. Touche dnp touche.
Well I find that very comforting. They knew what they where getting themselves into. Though I can't imagine how they wouldn't have after a decade with their audience...

I have to remind myself that Dan's entertaining persona is, as I read somewhere in this forum's past discussions, "an unreliable narrator". This is the guy who publicly wailed and tore his hair out over the lady door meme and then included it in his tour and seemed genuinely happy to meet the creator of the remix.

And of course Phil is the guy who won't swear publicly but makes Dan blow wooden Moose ass on camera. Yup. A couple of clowns.

(But I think I'm more sensitive when it comes to Dan because as someone who has struggles with mental illness and a history of intense bullying I identify with and no doubt project on him.)

Thanks to anyone who replied ^_^

it wasn't just you, those girls who sent the end of show messages in (why we can't have nice things/horny jail bonk/having a word with alyssa) probably did too

Reminds me when he was saying something Phil had done 'earlier' in the day a few shows back and Phil was straight up like... well it wasn't today, and then explained what had actually happened :D

I guess "cringe" isn't the word for me, it was just repetitive and blunt to the point where there wasn't really any humor to it? Like, yes, I can enjoy analyzing their decision to play those particular voice messages, and it's not like they weren't in line with D&P's jokes in general, but I guess to me there's a difference between the sort of suggestive humor they usually do and just literally saying butt plug and the joke is like... ha ha butt plug. I guess maybe the joke is that Dan can pretend to be outraged, but that gives me flashbacks to times like ttlmt; it's all different types of blaming us for going where he was leading us.

Also wondering, if they can genuinely see the preview beforehand, why would they choose to play so many voice messages that just say hi or tell them they're great? It seems like there have to be more interesting messages in the pool.

I am trying to understand a functional aspect of DaP's youtube-ing...

Basically, I finally got around to watching Phil's vid ranking his gay crushes and I saw this comment and reply:

ImageIMG_20210403_021825

First of all, I'm down for a new Bob Ross vid on AP.  Give uz some happy cherry blossom trees!

But I'm curious about the reply. The channel replying is D&PGames and the name tag says "Daniel Howell" but I feel it's more likely that the reply is from Phil. Their branding is pretty seperate on YouTube nowadays; it doesn't give the impression that Dan would reply on Phil's channel like that. Does the D&PG channel always carry Dan's name whether or not it's Dan replying? (Anyone know?) If it was Phil, why was he signed into the gaming channel? Basic maintenance? Something else? Or maybe my reasoning is all wrong and it was Dan cheekily commenting from the gaming channel.

Are the answers to any of these questions obvious to those who have been around longer? I'd love to get some takes on this.

That's a fake/fan account. (They probably got their name to look like Dan's by using uppercase i, it's quite common on twitter too.) Apart from the incorrect userpic as you point out, both real Dan and DAPG (and Phil) are verified YouTube accounts, so you can check if it's really their comments by the little tick (also Dan has a rainbow cactus on amazingphil lol). Here's his last comment on one of Phil's vids:

Here's an old one of the DAPG account commenting on Dan's DDR video

This is why I ended up texting that friend in confusion like...ok I am sure they can see them but can they really or am I losing my mind. I had kind of hoped the blaming the audience was going to be left in the past. In one of their earlier shows Phil pointed out the fact Dan can't really be that offended by lady door because they perpetuated it so I had hope!

Dan: How long have I gone in my life, without being reminded [laughs] of lady door.
Phil: I mean, we did perpetuate the lady door. (Dan: Look, people-) We played it on tour.

If the narrative was that some of the audience are chaotic and horny, and others feel embarrassed on their behalf or worried that dnp were offended by what was submitted then I guess choosing those messages exactly fits that narrative?

There have been a good number of Dan and Phil fake accounts this year. One actually engaged with me when I commented. I decided to see where it went and just messed around with them a bit. Basically, they want your contact information. I eventually deleted the conversation.

Omg, that makes me happy! I always liked his bits with Dan and Phil when they'd overlap for show promo.

I think there probably are far more interesting messages but their ability to actually see and pick them out is limited - they are getting almost 5k messages per show consistently so there's no way they're skimming through all 5k. My theory now is that they really do just pick at random, verify it to make sure it isn't something they truly don't wanna play, and then go with whatever they randomly picked.

Lovely little Dan mention in a podcast today from the audio editor of :thisnight: who is also a long-time audience member and went to II :ribena:

23:27 - "I'm actually currently working on my dream project. It's coming out in May and it's called 'You Will Get Through This Night' and essentially the author of it, Daniel Howell, is somebody that I've watched I think since I was 16 so he's a big YouTuber, did a lot of content on YouTube before moving into Radio and other stuff. He's always been someone that I admired and someone that I really wanted to work with, and I've been involved in that book from the acquisition stage and we're recording it very soon and that's my current dream project and one thats kind of like hasn't really sunk in that I'm working on it. But it's going to be really cool, and I can not wait for it to come out and for people to listen to it".

Oh wow that has got to be so exciting for that producer and now it makes me wish I’d ordered the audio book, though I have a really hard time focusing on audio books. Thanks for posting this!

Going back to what inanerat discussed I feel like Dan was really more uncomfortable with what happened Thursday than people thought, maybe he's just joking but him discussing it at the start of the show came off like it bothered him. (Full disclosure I've only read the Madlibs transcript because I have to mute every message, I find it painful listening to them) I'm not someone easily shocked or offended by this kind of humour at all but it coming from fans rather than something they joked about themselves makes me feel kinda weird about it, in a similar way to when people say things to Dan in his Twitter replies that he says about himself in a self-deprecating way always comes off rude and overstepping the foundries to me especially knowing Dan uses his humor as a defence mechanism at times. Maybe I'm reading to much into it because I'd never want to say anything to them that is awkward or embarrassing especially in a live situation.

Can’t believe that Phil was like “if you want a scoop you need to go to another ice cream shop” and now Dan told us they’re getting divorced on stereo. Wow.
