Does anyone feel like their interior design was influenced by the upstairs/penthouse apartment they were living in at the time?

That book review is a very positive one; I'm gonna have to start lurking on review sites to see if we get more. I am all for mind/body methods of addressing emotions (not so much breathwork for me, but just movement in general and naming the physical sensations associated with certain feelings) and while I've struggled in the past with self-compassion as a concept and with exercises in particular (I tend to dislike workbook-style self-help stuff), I am interested to see what Dan has to say about being kinder to oneself.

glitterintheair, can you elaborate on your reaction to that song? I struggle sometimes with song lyrics and knowing what the meaning/story is behind them, so I'd love to hear more on your take.

I'm gonna let you all do the lord's work of quizzing Phil. I wonder if this is just an easy vid for him to film before they move or if he has an agenda of something he wants to say. I do love that if feels interactive; that's something I'll miss once the Stereo shows go away, that feeling of there being some two-way communication between Phil and fans. But boy, I was actually surprised by how strong my emotional response was to Phil's house pic. I am so, so happy for them and kinda inspired by how shiny and clean everything looks, such that I am now overtaken by a desire to get rid of a bunch of stuff in my apartment and re-arrange a few things.

Sure! Basically the whole song is about some of the members of the band talking about their struggles and traumatic experiences (ie Kevin talking about feeling safe with his boyfriend because he’s white or him rebuilding his relationship with his mother who, for many years, didn’t accept him for being gay) or Joba talking about his father ending his own life and that’s the meaning behind the verse “the light is worth the wait, please don’t do it”). It’s a very raw song and I love it.

Is there a place I can thumbs up this question>

I wonder how he can still be "juicy" or "Potentially so" in this video, now that the biggest/most contentious question about his lovelife has been put out of the way? Like, what's gonna be the 'clickbait' title/thumbnail?

Also, can someone explain how the floeating staircase works??

I love this question and I also asked some similar things.

And yeah, I kind of felt like the last video was a nice way for Phil to bring up his current boundaries on relationship stuff, so I wonder if he has a motivation like that or just enjoyed it last time and is taking it as convenient content while things are chaotic for them (literally just sit down with phone and camera and talk).

As far as I am aware floating staircases refer to ones where the stairs are anchored in one wall and not supported from underneath. This gives a bit more space underneath, more opportunities to let light through and looks cleaner with an open staircase. But imo is kind of scary  dnp have always had a thing for them, from the sims to the living flat so I'm not surprised that's what they went with.

Howell (The Amazing Book is Not on Fire) has written a book that could be read in tandem with Matt Haig's The Midnight Library. With the same themes of choice, fate, and decision-making, Howell's book offers practical guidance on handling life's toughest experiences, both in the immediate moment and in the short- and long-term aftermath. The author discusses breathwork, grounding, and mindfulness and recommends that readers learn these strategies before they need them so that they're second nature during a crisis. He offers useful ways to recover in the physical body following an experience that causes stress or anxiety, and provides ideas for working within different healing modalities to ensure that trauma is recognized, addressed, and dealt with in highly individualized, evolving ways. Exercises on developing empathy and compassion for the self are featured throughout. VERDICT Bold, raw, and powerful, Howell's book—which also draws from his own experiences—becomes one thread of a narrative about finding hope and healing. It doesn't ever feel too positive, simplistic, reductive, or one-dimensional. Like his previous books, this one will find a wide audience.—Emily Bowles, Lawrence Univ., WI

Library Journal
I'm fascinated by a couple of points here.

Having just read The Midnight Library myself, that correlation is really interesting. (TW: SI & also - not-really-spoilery spoilers about TML, just in case)
That book is quite literally a novel about someone dealing with their attempted suicide. It's also... a novel. So, I'm curious how this reviewer sees these books being read in tandem? From what I'm picking up here, perhaps the main character in TML is tackling the kind of thoughts and challenges Dan will cover in his book? Interesting. Much to think about.
One of the things I’ll be very curious to see is how wide the lens focuses in respect to these “experiences” and if everything is viewed through the individual or if there will be an acknowledgment and testimony on the impact of mental health on friends, family, partners—I’m not looking for a “Phil saved me” type of message, because that’s not going to exactly be relatable to most people and shortchanges the inward and personal emotional growth journey, but I will be curious to hear how mental health can impact a committed relationship—how to communicate with a partner that wants to help, but may ultimately be helpless when navigating an emotional crisis and articulate what kind of support and understanding they might need to exhibit during such times.

Or they could do a Good Omens Phan AU which I would very much enjoy (although I’d cast Phil as Aziraphale and Dan as Crowley, but I can get past it)

That sounds good, the insta stories sound like we have to hear about Dans nips tho... I think I'm just going to watch PJ's instagram story of piano playing and fuji the cat a few times for some non nipple content.

Even if they stop the stereos eventually I'd be slightly pacified if they promised to just keep being mildly chaotic on instagram twice weekly.

That story of Dan's photoshoot reminded me of a thought I had pre joining idb. I thought it was weird for captain designer dan, first time he got his kit off on main for a decade, decided to do it in mismatching pants and top/kimono?

And then I realised it was weird that the man has a thousand pound jumper. And then he's in an 18 pound lace kimono thing from ASOS men.

Then I realised who usually shops at asos men.

... sorry. If I had to think it at least one other person has to as well.

Quick note after ALL THE STUFF they said on the stereo: DNP's new flat is almost ready, they're going to start moving boxes next week and Dan needs to promote his book so they're ending these stereo shows after this upcoming Thursday.

That was maybe the most emotional Stereo show yet? But like, for me. Beyond the incredibly sweet messages from fans - I'm just kinda a mess about them moving and like... for lack of a better description, sharing their love with us???

Like. They're so excited. We're so excited for them

It's bittersweet, losing these shows. But fuck. It's 'cause they're moving into their forever home they've worked on for 4 years!!! And they love each other. And they've been Dan and Phil for SO LONG. And we love them. AND UGHHHHH.

The fact that we knew they were gonna be temporary and that they lasted so much longer than I ever thought SHOULD make this easier - and alright, it probably does, I just don't have the right perspective at the moment to judge - but I'm emo as fuck right now.

While at the same time being excited as fuck for everything to come. I love that Dan's got so many plans and ideas and I love that Phil's got Dan on his side pushing him and 'momager'ing him.

I definitely feel sad about the shows ending. And I know I should've been ready and I am happy for them to finally move to their new place but it's so bittersweet. We've had out Dan and Phil drought for so long and I got used to it but then we got them back so unexpectedly and twice a week and it was way too easy to get used to that and now we have to get used to not having that again

What really struck me the most about that show is how *little* dnp can give the phandom and how right the phandom can still be. About potential projects, about house stuff...

But also. They do just seem genuinely excited about future projects, and are completely open to working together again! For quite a long time I wondered if joint branding was done forever, but they're just constantly trying to shop things around and some are solo, some are joint.
