I wonder if they're doing some gay pirating of their own, considering he must be talking about our flag means death and it isn't out in the uk yet lol. I hope Phil shares his thoughts about it, I love that show. (makes me miss liveshows, sigh)

Dan: Thank you very much. Now I'm not going to go ahead and just say I was wearing them ironically - I did actually kind of want to wear them. They cross that line between hideous and awesome.

Phil: They're hawesome. (they both giggle a little after Phil says this)

Dan: I had a funny incident with those shoes actually as I wore them when we were going on a domestic flight to Seattle. And that's all cool I'm like hey y'know swaggy airport style going on. Didn't realize in America gotta take of your shoes to go through security. Stood on the other side, look at the screen as they're scanning and I suddenly go "oh, oh god no" because obviously a scan comes up on the screen and what do you see? Oh! It's a shoe! Wrapped with a coil of wires with a giant battery pack in the middle.

Phil: (laughs)

Dan: And I was like oh my god that's literally the most...

Phil: You looked so guilty as well!

Dan: It was America! I was like this is it! I'm gonna be put in a room and probed. This is happening right now, this is the end of the tour! I'm not going to mentally make it through. But because it was just in Seattle and not like L.A. or New York they were just like "what's this?" And I was like "um... I wore light up shoes today." And they're like "Light up shoes? Cool how do they work?" And they all like gathered around me and were like "whoa they light up when you stand!" So that was a close shave. Style, Phil. It comes with sacrifice.

Phil: Definitely.

The Phil and Louise charity livestream was such a delight. Those two are really just delightful humans, and it really felt like old times.

That was such a fun dose of Phil. I needed that in my life. And they hit 30k during Phil's part of the stream!! I love that for them. Phil was hilarious with his lowkey taking over on the stream, he's just very unfamiliar with being backup for someone. With Dan it was always 50/50 and on his own channel it's just... him. But it was still a blast to watch. Louise did him a solid by immediately handing him something to fidget with, and he got to shine a little with his board games.

It'll be up on the IDB channel soon for anyone that wants to rewatch later!

Such a fun surprise! It was a delightful watch, I've missed Phil's live show energy. And with Louise (a bit loopy after 6h of being live) it was beautiful chaos. So many tangents. I loved it!

It was lovely seeing him in a setting like this again, it sure has been a while. In the past I haven't always been fond of Louise's chemistry with Phil but it was good today. It also really made me miss liveshows, though this was longer than any YouNow he has ever done lol.

btw can whoever did the lighting for Louise's stream hook Phil up with some Lighting Tips because holy shit the man has a skin color!

Wow, I feel like the enhanced ebook must have had such a limited market - it works (worked?) only for certain e-readers, right? Was there anything special in the other extra bits?

Yeah, I think because of the features it was only available for certain devices. I'm still able to play it on my iphone although it is a bit glitchy. I remember being kinda disappointed with it because there wasn't a lot of extra substance but when I recently went through it again looking for the shoe story I appreciated it more, probably due to nostalgia.

I don’t know why but that photo made me think of that time Dan was at a (BBC?) writing retreat with Hazel during his full social media blackout of early 2019 and he left the room when she started recording for an insta story. It’s starting to feel like we’re heading in that direction again. Social media must suck with such a huge following so I don’t blame him but I do miss seeing his face. Especially when it’s in the same frame as Phil’s.

Shan, I agree about the writing retreat vibes. I think he doesn't look super thrilled to have been spotted - or maybe he's just out of practice posing for fans? But I do truly love the chance to see his face again. Also love knowing that he is still, in fact, wearing the same comfort outfits he's had for half a decade now.

to be fair, the op of that tweet did say that it was horrible timing for the photo and that he was smiling in their friend's picture.

i'm curious what he's up to. he looks like he's got a backpack on.

They also said he's the one that approached them and said "hi" because he saw them smiling and freaking out a bit. I'm so happy to see him out and about, I've really missed these out in the wild chance fan encounters.

The two fan photos are at almost the exact location, only a few steps apart. Makes me wonder how often they get recognized. Also makes me concerned that they never leave the flat since they don’t get spotted that often? It seems like one small excursion means that multiple fans will spot them.

Apart from that, it’s very nice to see Dan’s face.

I also agree that it's sad they might not ever leave the house (no longer a flat!) because of fear of being recognised

I saw the Insta picture before it was deleted and he looked very smiley, the other photo from Twitter just caught him in one of his less photogenic moments.
