For years people have been saying are about to come out so it's become a boy who cried wolf idea but Dan has been testing boundaries lately. We know at the end of the year they make their big decisions for the next year and he definitely decided something. He made me raise my eyebrows so many times these past months I should staple them to my hairline to keep them there and spare my facial muscles the effort.

Maybe they're not coming out. Who knows with Phil. Maybe Dan's not even coming out. But something big is on the horizon for them both.

That's not a euphemism.
he's definitely pushing boundaries and i'm in a weird place of loving it and hating it. love it because let's be honest: , hate it because it's a tease. whether or not all this weird hinting comes to anything, it's like an endless cliff-hanger and the slow burn is so real.

also - i feel like this might come out wrong - but... part of why i love the phandom so much is because D&P know literally everything that's said/done - dan, in particular. and i love when he plays with that or makes references to it, but the minute he mentioned ~editing tips~ in his 2015 meme video, he broke some sort of 5th wall (the phan dam? heh) and has touched on the shipping aspect a lot more. i don't know how to feel about this. he's milking it, but like... damn, daniel. (sorry.) at least, when that topic was generally avoided, i could live in my there-will-never-be-closure, "peaceful" reality and now it's just... well. the dam is crumbling and i don't know how i feel about it. i'm sorry if this makes no sense.
"Endless cliff-hanger" is the perfect way to describe it!
Although I don't really think D&P are together so I think eventually they will find other partners and that will be the end of it
Buuuut if it turned out they actually were together (and I would be thrilled if that were the case!) I wouldn't anticipate any kind of formal 'coming out' - so no videos or tweets etc. It doesn't seem their style to me and I would imagine they would only ever 'come out' if they were in a situation where they were absolutely forced to acknowledge it, or once they're out of the public eye and even then it wouldn't be in something like a video, it would just be them holding hands in public - doing things to clearly indicate they're in a relationship
Idk just my thoughts

NGL though Dan's behaviour over 2015/16 so far has been interesting. Maybe phan will be divorcing at the end of the year so he's giving fan service to the shippers before the end? :sobs:

PS all three of you have nice sounding voices hahaha

Edit: sorry this rambling at the top of the page

Phan is so frustrating. I tend to think they are together, but it's comments like Dan's tweet about shipping last night that make me doubt they really are. Cause that is obvious fan service, and not the 'good' fan service imo. It's something I'm not sure he would really joke about if they were together. I don't know anymore, why the 'no homo' about the bus and then this? There is absolutely nothing that points to them being about to come out, it's just Dan messing with us, like the Niagara tweet. I don't know what to think anymore.

I knew I have heard of the game before. It was on Radio 1 (and of course you can buy it off Firebox ) it had to be an English game anyway because of Queen Mary Berry.

I can never see them do a coming out video. Not their style at all. It would definitely be "on accident" in like a liveshow, something more casual.

I agree with you here

His mentions of attraction lately are incredibly intriguing and because I don’t believe they’re together either I interpret it as a ‘phan-divorce’ on the distant horizon and so he feels he can be more open with regard to it because once they move on it won’t implicate phil?

This doesn’t make sense and I can’t quite phrase exactly what I mean but I follow your train of thought, I think

WARNING!!! I'm an optimistic piece of trash.........

I swear the phandom is not used to so much positivity and good stuff. Everytime something nice happens people automatically assume that it's because we are reaching the end. I have seen countless of tumblr posts of people theorizing how DP and their tour is their last goodbye. To me they have never looked so comfortable. They are at the top of the world with all the other youtubers being envious of their power couple status , they are on the verge of joining companies or doing something drastic corporate related, and Dan is becoming more open with his sexuality and relationship with Phil. To me they seem to be at their happiest, they are literally on top of the world.

To me this seems like the end of the tour feels like a new beginning. If anything changes I think it will be their youtube channel formats (one can dream for AP vlogs ) with Dan expressing his need to grow as a channel. They will hopefully merge companies, return in Radio 1, get married and get the freakin dog, and further their careers in mainstream media. I don't see how phan could get #divorced since they seem more together than ever and have worked hard this past year to brand themselves as two peas in a pod. They have built this phandom and have now been acknowledging it so much so why suddenly tear it down? They have an amazing, funny, dedicated fanbase that adores them and they recognize that so why stop? Dan mentions don't ring fanservice to me they just scream Dan being Dan. He gets a rise out of the attention so why not play around a bit. Anyway conclusion: They are their happiest with each other so I suspect that that's how it will remain *cue forever music

[offtopic]weird thing I just realized is that all of you guys have different accents and are reading this post in those accents....don't know why I mentioned that but its cool [/offtopic]

can you expand on what you mean here?

they've really taken back control of the shipping culture surrounding them through acknowledging it the last few years in a positive/neutral light again, a huge turn-around from conflating it with people invading their privacy and trying to 'prove' something about their relationship for that dark period. which feels very much like a deliberate step in order to separate and protect their private relationship from public treatment and perception, imo. that is the biggest indicator to me that they are, in fact, protecting something very valuable to them.

it's easy to lose perspective and interpret them controlling their image and interaction with their audience as directly related to denials or confirmations of a private relationship, but i don't see them having the same function at all.

mermaid: I think my post turned out more negative/bitter than I intended. It's just that they confuse me when they talk about shipping in such a light way, especially considering their past. But I can see what you mean and I agree. There is just that tiny bit of me who still doesn't know what to make of all these shipping remarks we have had lately, even if in objective/rational terms I agree with your explanation.

PhilTrashNumber1: I'm 100% sure if a sex tape leaked they would say the people in the tape were actors and it was a prank or something like this, and what's more, some people would believe them. (I'm not joking, btw, I really think they would do that, and pretty much sucessfully I'm afraid).

Also, ''endless cliffhanger'' is one way to phrase it, but the term I usually is ''shipping blue balls.'' Like, Dan teases us just enough every once in a while to keep the boner, but it would be nice to get some actual release after all these years, even if it would be confirmation of one of them dating someone else. That would be the boner-killer in this extended dirty metaphor.

This is a good point. I suppose their intense Dan and Phil branding to me looks like it will either go one of two extreme ways:
1. They're doing a last hurrah kind of thing with intensive D&P branding as a final farewell to the fans
2. Everything is fine and they will continue to work closely together in future with their new duo-based branding

Your post has me leaning towards option 2 though, thank goodness!

There are few phrases as perfect for the description of this entire community as "shipping blue balls".

As for the end, I agree that there is literally no indication that the end is nigh.
My honest guess is that they will finish the tour(s), then start to focus more on mainstream media like radio and television and slowly back away more and more from YT, whilst doing just enough to continue cashing those sweet, sweet Google paychecks.

"Celebrity" is so intensely fascinating and relative. People that are gods on one platform can easily be absolute nobodies in others. There are millions of people in the world who would start crying if Cher walked in the room, and have no fucking idea who PewDiePie is. It makes crossover a scary thing to do.

I am reminded of Jon LaJoie. Aka the "Show Me Your Genitals" guy on Youtube. Been making videos for 8 years. Currently at 1.2mill subscribers, his most popular video has 71million views. His viral popularity eventually afforded him the opportunity to be a regular on 7 seasons of a mainstream television show. And now he's trying to do a non-comedy musical thing and released a song that has gotten....lukewarm response. And he was a guest at an event a couple years back while his TV show was still on the air and promoted his appearance. I went. I was literally the only one that showed up for him. Crossing over from your popular platform can be a big risk.

Oh Christ, thanks guys, I just said "Jude Law is fighting a war" wayy to many times, and my accent is not stable so I could say it with ease in both a British and an American accent. Still have no idea which would be more "natural" for me to say.

I'm actually getting "coupley vibes" from this video, so I'm pretty happy. Good amount of innuendos, a ton to laugh at and some subtle something-somethings? I love this so much.

I'm a bit late to the party (yay for sleep!), but honestly, why would drastically change their format now?
Regardless of their personal relationship, this double act thing they've got going is working really well for them. Ending it would, at this point, likely not help them go further in their careers. They've worked so hard towards becoming so connected that now, most of their fan base is shared, and it's natural to expect that if you see one, the other one will be close by.
I'm not saying they won't do anything to help them grow as individuals, but I think that from a purely business standpoint, breaking up the Dan and Phil brand would be a bad idea right now.

I guess I could see it happening if they were dating and broke up, since it might be difficult to keep working together then. But it's been said above and I'll say it again - I think they're as comfortable as ever. I view Dan's tweets as part fan service, sure, but also being more out in the open with things and I truly love seeing that.

I also don't see the tour as some big final farewell gesture - to me it's a natural extension of the UK tour they've done. They have loads of fans in the US, obviously they had to do everything in their power to not leave them out now a tour of Europe pls

Maybe I'm a hopeless shipper , but at this point I think it's far more likely that they will continue down this road and maybe eventually quietly confirm our suspicions, than that they will part ways.

I too am an optimistic piece of trash, because I totally agree with you. I don't see them going separate ways after the tour is over at all. They seem very happy with each other and their accomplishments right now, so I don't see how that would lead them moving on without each other. I just don't see it.

That's a thing I was always curious about! Like when they say "I saw it" it sounds like "I sawrit". Is it a british thing in general or just a northern/southern accent thing that the other one adopted?

All this accent talk is making me self conscious with how I speak now haha.

I think that might be an English thing as I do that to (not that I realised until now). I come from the Midlands so I wouldn't say it is a North/South thing, just a general English thing.

For context, I'm British but have been living in Canada/travelling around the US for the past couple of months so not sounding my most British currently  But yeah for me law & war definitely rhyme, not perfectly but pretty well

Also as I haven't talked about it yet, loved the video, will rewatch a lot for sure! Obama Llama was already on my list of games to buy, but this definitely confirmed it's spot at the top of the list it looks hilarious!
Here's mine. For science. Soz for the crappy quality.

This is fascinating. It's really strange that I couldn't rhyme law and war considering that I'm Australian and we use the same pronunciation. Like I know they rhyme but it wouldn't be the first rhyming word to pop into my head. Or maybe my Australian accent is too strong (I'm such a bogan I cut off the end of all my words).

I really like how Dan (and I think Phil does it too?) uses a linking /r/ inside words when the sound is not actually there, like when he says "drawring" instead of "drawing".
That's a thing I was always curious about! Like when they say "I saw it" it sounds like "I sawrit". Is it a british thing in general or just a northern/southern accent thing that the other one adopted?
YMMV, but I do that. Not just with r sounds either. "Did it" becomes "di-dit" - I think it's just where the emphasis lies in the phrase...
All this accent talk is making me self conscious with how I speak now haha.

I think that might be an English thing as I do that to (not that I realised until now). I come from the Midlands so I wouldn't say it is a North/South thing, just a general English thing.
Yuuuuuuuuuup to both of those. With the uncomfortable realisation that I've definitely been "home" too long. Hello traces of regional accent, would you kindly bugger off please? :?
