I've recorded myself saying the line. I now demand that all of you in assorted countries do the same so we can compare.

God I hate how I sound in an audio recording, but for science here you go:
http://vocaroo.com/i/s0gsQMCMiEAq
For context, I'm British but have been living in Canada/travelling around the US for the past couple of months so not sounding my most British currently  But yeah for me law & war definitely rhyme, not perfectly but pretty well
I guess I'm always pretty conscious of accents because my family is always making fun of mine. As I was watching the video I was thinking "Wow, a lot of those wouldn't rhyme at all with a North American accent" so it's really cool that everyone else picked up on that too!
Here's
http://vocaroo.com/i/s0ZxBMTVmJp2

Also as I haven't talked about it yet, loved the video, will rewatch a lot for sure! Obama Llama was already on my list of games to buy, but this definitely confirmed it's spot at the top of the list it looks hilarious!
Here's mine. For science. Soz for the crappy quality.

(Australian born and raised)
This is fascinating. It's really strange that I couldn't rhyme law and war considering that I'm Australian and we use the same pronunciation. Like I know they rhyme but it wouldn't be the first rhyming word to pop into my head. Or maybe my Australian accent is too strong (I'm such a bogan I cut off the end of all my words).
I think I'm always hyper-aware of the differences between British and North American accents because my family constantly makes fun of the way I speak. My Canadian family hear my accent as English and my English mum hears my accent as Canadian. I know when I first arrived here I was forced to make some modifications to my accent because people literally didn't understand me. (The pronunciations of "butter" and "water" for instance are REALLY different between England and Canada) It's so interesting to listen to everyone's pronunciation (and to put a bit of a voice to the username incidentally :D ).
Here's mine:
http://vocaroo.com/i/s0ZxBMTVmJp2
If there are any Scottish or Irish people here it would be great to hear yours.
Sorry if I say something wrong. My first language is sarcasm. I've never really learned English

I mean, if you wanna talk about it...

Phil really does have issues with not wanting to sit with his legs closed, doesn't he? He manspreads like whoa, he didn't even straighten out his legs or narrow the amount of space he was taking up when Louise complained about his knee touching her stomach making her uncomfortable.

Is your junk really that big, Phil? I mean, photographic evidence to prove or disprove the point wouldn't go amiss. Otherwise, close your damn legs unless Dan is between them.

Haha! I mean, I was assuming it was due to their proximity to the, erm, tripod. Which, again, begs the question: why not just relocate the set?

Things I didn't think I'd be talking about ever... There's no need. Actually, maybe the sneaky sod was just forcing Dan to show some left side for once...
Also, someone needs to get Louise a tits-protector before she next sees the boys. Clearly her girls are in danger of elbows and knees...!

There was a great gif on tumblr where he is in his pyjamas and it zooms in. I remember thinking he was HUGE :o little philly ain't so little amiright dan...sorry I had to. Also let's not forget the awkward erect moment phil had in the interview in sitc (i think) when the north had risen just with the proximity of dans hand

Wait. Is that what the "r" in some pronunciations of "idea" is called? As in, some people say "idear." It might be something totally else, but I'm sure a linguistic major, of which there seems to be many here, can help me out. I'm pretty invested in this one as people bullied it out of me, but my dad and a few other people around here (new england) say "idear," and I've noticed Dan use it as well.

Apologies for posting in quick succession and for being late, but I didn't read all of what I missed before commenting on dan's tweet.

there's also the caitlin moran interview when it truly looked like he'd shoved a tennis ball in his pants at some points...(i'm not going to link to pix because that feels kinda slimy).

and so that my first post in ages isn't such complete penis-related trash, how weird was it when at 9:56 of the Obama Llama vid Dan interrupted Phil and said "do it again" when his voice cracked? he sounded so bossy. so much for phil being the mastermind behind the scenes control freak overlord of their vids (lol)
that was a very fourth-wall-shattering moment to me; it forced me to reflect on how many times they might re-record bits for optimal comedic effect, how staged the vids might always be, and how differently they behave on vs. off camera. their voices are so much lower whenever we catch little candid non-persona moments. tis interesting.

Edited to add this bc it's popped up on my tumblr dash a few times: "stop accusing dan and phil , two Real Living People , of queer baiting for doing things like showing even the slightest of affection for each other u dehumanizing and invasive Fucks"
http://luvphil.tumblr.com/post/14389756 ... eal-living
it's gained a ton of traction, has over 1000 notes and golly it sure is aggressive...like what is invasive about thinking something d&p do is queer baiting? i'm inclined to think that most of the time they are just being themselves, and are probably queer so they can't really bait it, but i'm also certain they play their ambiguousness up for the camera...and i don't see how that's remotely invasive. at the end of the day it seems like another example of the phandom creating drama out of nothing, but i figured i'd post it here in case anyone had any thoughts.

Yeah, almost; it's called "intrusive r", which is just one of the variants of the "linking r", in a similar way to square being also a rectangle. Intrusive r connects two words in fast speech when the first word ends with a vowel and the second one starts with a vowel. So in your example if the word 'idea' is followed by, let say, the word 'of' and you'd say somethig like 'idearof' it would be a intrusive r which is a subtype of a linking r. However, if you'd want to say "the idea to..." then there would be no intrusive/linking r because the word 'to' doesn't start with a vowel (so theoretically people don't really say 'idearto'). Hope that makes sense.

I didn't read Dan interrupting Phil as bossy so much as just a sign that the two of them constantly check each other and have such a collaborative mindset that they both feel comfortable giving each other direction. It's probably tragic for the fans who are deeply attached to individual channels but it just drives home the comfortable ownership they share of everything that encompasses both their individual and combined channels.

It was a fourth wall shattering moment but I also think they (and most youtubers) assume that the audience knows that what they're getting, especially in a main channel video (as opposed to a vlog) is a performance for the audience. They are trying to be funny and engaging and entertaining, that's why videos are edited and why retakes of moments that don't work happen. I'm not sure if this will really help you or not but to put a positive spin on it: knowing the videos are mostly performance is what makes the little standout moments where it's clearly just Dan and Phil being themselves all the more exciting to find.

I think invasive is a bad word for it, but I agree with what I think the OP's point is: that parts of the fandom go so overboard with trying to pretend they're the more rational clear-minded fan not blinded by immature shipping, and that they have to lean on 'queerbaiting' and 'phanservice' as terms to explain the things Dan and Phil do that don't matched the ~enlightened view~ that people who think Dan and Phil are together are delusional. (This is a generalization; I'm not speaking for everyone and if that doesn't apply to you awesome and here's a cookie.)

I can't figure out how 'invasive' fits into that, though. The closest I can come is to say that I think sometimes fans appropriate moments between Dan and Phil by assuming that every moment between Dan and Phil is for them, for an audience, therefore queerbaiting. The idea that Dan and Phil could do something on camera that actually is for them, or between them, seems to offend some fans. But... still not invasive.

Louise, via http://sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.co.uk ... a-man.html
I plan on blogging more about our adventures and vlogging about them too but I need to find a way to do that where we are both comfortable. He isn't after internet 'fame' and has nothing to promote or gain from being 'Sprinkle of Glitter's Boyfriend'. The only interest he has in GlitterWorld is that I'm happy in it. He respects it and loves that I love it but he has his own thing, his own success and his own world. He has social media but it's private and personal and I'd like to think it will stay that way. I hope you don't mind me being a bit stern but I would implore you not to seek him out. Even if you did find any of his social media, there's not much on there. Unlike me, he doesn't want to post every moment of his day haha! For now, I'll just be calling him 'him' or 'he' or 'bae' or 'the bf'.
That's why. If they want to keep it private, then I hope they get to.

If there are any Scottish or Irish people here it would be great to hear yours.
My Dad gets the same thing when he goes home to Manchester (from Australia) - all our family is like "You sound so Australian!" when in reality he still has a strong English accent. Some of them are sad I "lost" my accent, despite the fact that I moved from England when I was 4.

I am currently living in California and have yet to 100% completely master saying my name (it is not a weird name by any means) so that people get it first go. It took me about 7 years to be able to ask for "coke" at a restaurant without confusing the hell out of the waitstaff. It went like this:

Them: What would you like?"
Me: Coke please.
Them: What was that?
Me: Coke.
Them: Huh?
Me: Pepsi?
Them: Oh, we only have coke!
Me: That's fine.

You read the way she describes "him" in the blog post, and tell me that (apart from the "not YT" part, it doesn't sound at least a little like Dan...!
A 6"4, dark haired, handsome goodie. Squee!

What else can I tell you? I like him a lot! He is kind and gentle and understanding. He thinks my dress sense is colourful (I think sometimes a little too colourful haha) and he thinks my cooking is awful (it is!). We're really good at mocking each other and banter and have all the lols. I like that he can take a joke. Sometimes I struggle and cave and sulk but mainly, we do OK haha. He's confident and able and that shines through in his humour and his ability to take mine. Phew! He is a leader. He helps me with things that are a struggle (fixing my TV, telling me what bulbs I need in my kitchen, warning me to shut my eyes for the gory horrible bits of GoT that he knows would give me nightmares) and I love that. He likes to take charge of the day..

He's protective too which I like...
