Phil...he just smiles but turns into a damn executive as soon as the cameras are off. And well, both script their videos and plan their tweets. [/spoiler]
To me, this is kind of the line of thought that reads as fans appropriating Dan and Phil's behavior as everything having to do with fans or being for fans. Coming out can be a long confusing messy process and sometimes you're feeling more confident, sometimes you aren't. Sometimes you don't want to deal with pressure to tell everyone you meet what you are, but you also don't want to be assumed as something you aren't. Dan's hints read to me like someone of a not-straight sexuality who doesn't want to be mistaken as straight but isn't ready to invite 5 million people into his mind to have a conversation about exactly what he is. (Especially since it can't really be divorced from his relationship.)

Very cynical fans/skeptical seem to believe Dan could be incapable of doing something in view of his audience that isn't for his audience directly, and that as soon as he's put a single concept or suggestion out there that he has an obligation to answer all questions about it. And if he won't do that then clearly the motive is queerbaiting and couldn't just be because coming out is scary.
I can absolutely see your point as well, and I believe I didn't express my opinion as I would have liked to :)

What I meant is that, in the end and taking into account their actions from 2014 onwards, if they are straight it would have been nothing but queer baiting, in my opinion. If they are together, nice. If they're not together and they're not straight, equally nice.

I just checked and it was unlisted, something about it being a video only sent to the UK people who had those SIM cards. I can PM you, if you want to

I believe it's inherently hard for phan believers to understand why non-phanbelievers (damn we are getting into some kind of religious debate here) are blaming Dan and Phil of queerbaiting / shipbaiting, because it's hard to disassociate and approach everything they do from the position that Phan isn't real (and/or Dan is straight). So many things that can seem perfectly innocuous to a phan believer strike a negative chord with nonbeliever.

I wish I could spend more on this but it's past midnight where I live and I just came from work. At least you saved yourself from this by not doing law, Danny)

I agree, to some extent, but also thing it's the exact same if you flip it. People who adamantly believe that Dan and Phil aren't together and/or are straight find it inherently hard to understand what it looks like to view their actions from anything but an audience baiting perspective. Your last statement also applies conversely, too; so many things that strike a chord with you as Dan and Phil being manipulative or dishonest are innocuous behaviors to someone who is looking at them through the multi-faceted view of them as dealing with their own sexuality in the face of an audience, and a potential relationship.

I am perfectly aware of what you pointed out. I don't want to come off as some sort of special snowflake, but as a lawyer my whole education and training had been geared around learning to disassociate from personal feelings and applying the facts (now career is dedicated to forming facts into a narrative, which is a different topic entirely). Which is why while I am an anti-phanner (I-m just having way too much fan with those help) you'll often find me at phanantiproof denying Ren's arguments, or playing devil's advocate in similar debates. But yes, finding balance is hard, and biases are real

What video is this? It sounds vaguely familiar...

EDIT: Nvm. The sim video? I was thinking he said he sleeps commando in a radio1 video?

Seriously?
What does whether or not he's into anal have to do with whether or not he's into Phil?

Maybe Tyler is actually straight, and he only acts gay to further his YouTube career. Also not to beat a dead horse, but the idea of Obama having bum sex in the Oval Office to unwind is hilarious whether you engage in it or not. Or maybe just because I have the sense of humor of a twelve-year-old. Whatever.

Honestly, as perverted and low-tone and sex positive as I am, I find the concept of the phandom discussing dick size and fantasizing about sex with Deppy, or celebs in general, kind of uncomfortable.
A large amount of of the phandom are children. Literal text book children ages 11-16.
Children don't understand what having a big dick means. Or what having sex is actually like.
Teaching youngsters about sexuality is a good and important thing, but sexualizing a stranger and discussing dick sizes is a whole other monster when kids are involved. Argh, I wish I could articulate this properly.

I am reminded of the song "Mister Superstar" by Marilyn Manson. About someone who fantasizes about wanting to be with a celebrity but when they get it they realize it's not what they wanted or expected.

note: this is a feeling I have for the phandom as a whole, not this site. I know this place has a higher age average and a more intellectual understanding than say, a 13 year old on tumblr.

Teenages gonna fantasise about having sex with their idols of appropriate gender. Ain't nothing anyone can do about that, it's been that way since times immemorial. Teens are hormonal, super horny, and mostly able to express that through fantasies

I don't even mind insert yoself stories they write. Hell, I started writing porn at 13 (don't judge. At least i got an editor). Now when they loudly enthusiastically publicly express it into Dan and Phil's face, i get uncomfortable

Oh teenagers will absolutely do that. I'm thinking more 12, 13, 14 year olds who think they understand the seriousness of it all but they don't realize. I thought I knew when I was a child. I thought I understood sex and when I actually started having it, I was very wrong.

And yes, loudly enthusiastically publicly expressing it to Deppy's face is a whole 'nuther ballgame that involves sexual harassment. Women fight so hard to make men understand why shouting foul awful disgusting things to women as they walk down the street makes women feel horrible, and yet so many girls and women don't understand that shouting those things at men is just as bad.

But... 13 year old is a teen? Not mature enough to have sex, but mature enough to fantasise and start exploring the thought of their sexuality. I mean I guess if a 12 year old is having a fantasy of detailed youtuber gangbang that i would be uncomfortable too...

Much as I hate phandom loudly expressing their sexual appreciation of Dan and Phil in their faces, I wouldn't call such actions of younger teens sexual harassment for the same reason we don't hold children legally accountable for other offenses: they are children

Oh I'm definitely not saying that children and teens shouldn't be fantasizing and what not, I'm saying it makes me uncomfortable as an adult, who fantasized about adults as a child, to think about the fact that these children don't understand what it is they're really involving themselves in.
As for the IRL actions, they need to realize, children or not, that shouting FUCK ME DADDY or I WANT TO SUCK YOUR COCK into an actual breathing living human's face is wrong. Kids do stupid shit all the time, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be taught that it's wrong and WHY it's wrong instead of just going "haha, kids."

I don't disagree that children need more perspective on who and what they sexualize and when it's appropriate/when it isn't. But I also don't really think that anyone on this forum should have a responsibility to not discuss things just because kids might be reading and might be uncomfortable. I am probably de-sensitized though, since like many on this forum the internet raised me and gave me all the sex ed I could have needed (and then some).
