I don't think by saying that some of the UK fans were upset they wouldn't be attending is insinuating that this is a life of death situation lol. It's funny that people are so quick to say that the uk fans should just sit back and shut up and not express their upset about SITC. Regardless to where anyone is from, people will be upset if their favourite youtubers aren't visiting xyz country/city. If people aren't happy then I don't see anything wrong with expressing their opinion on it.
The UK fans can be as upset as they want to be and are free to express that, but from my side they won't get much sympathy. They will miss out just this one year, but for most of us the tour might be the only time we will ever get the see Dan and Phil, and some don't even get that. So in my eyes, they will just have to deal with it.
Same can be said about the US though? Dan and Phil go there twice a year already, but they still specifically planned their tour around Playlist Live and Vidcon so they could attend. It's kinda shit for UK audiences that they don't get the same treatment.
The same could be said for the US indeed, and I'm sure that if they had to choose between doing a show or going to one of the cons there, that they would have chosen for the show. And if they would have only gone to one or any of the cons this year, than I wouldn't have felt bad for those US fans either.
But the US cons do have a big advantage over the UK one, and that is that it is the only few times a year that they get to see their US friends, so that might give them more incentive to go.

Yeah, I don't think anyone (on here at least) was looking for any sympathy, they just wanted to express their opinions on it.
Everyone keeps saying that the UK fans will miss out for "just one year" but no one actually knows what D&P have got planned, it might be that they never go back to doing SITC from now on. I don't really know that much about YT conventions tbh so I don't know how poorly run the UK one is, but from what people on here have been saying about how poorly managed it is, maybe they'll never go back. We will have to wait and see on that front I guess.

With the whole world tour and their no spoilers embargo, does that mean seeing as they're taking it to Aus next and no doubt Europe after that we are gonna have to wait at least another 6 months for any tour documentary or footage. Maybe they'll do a little bts video from the American leg and put in all those selfies Dan took at the m&gs?

Are there any people on here who are planning to go to tatinof when it hits Australia and maybe the surrounding areas? I hope they release some news about it soon, for sure they must have pre-recorded an announcement video for it before they left for the USA as these dates must have been planned for some time.
Yeah people have a right to express their disappointment at D&P not being at SITC but I don't have much sympathy if it turns out they are visiting Australia instead. They have never been to Australia and people in the UK have had countless opportunities to meet them.

That being said I don't even know if I wanna go. It will depend on when it is, where it is and how much tickets are. If they don't announce it soon I wont be going. I live six hours from the nearest capital city and I need time to plan/get a hotel/transport. Also do they do midweek shows? I hope they don't in Aus because that wont work for me :(

For the record, i don't think UK fans don't have a right to be upset and voice that. Telling someone who is sad to "stop whining" is unnecessarily hurtful imo.
What threw me off was the thought that d+p should say anything about it, implying that they were in any way responsible. That's what i disagree with. People can be upset without blaming .

About SITC being salty about deppy not attending: Again, i don't think they have any right to be, unless d+p were leading them on so that they got a bigger venue than they need.

The problem with SITC is that they don't have big sponsors and the tickets are cheap, therefore they can't handle the presence of bigger youtubers or attract them (by providing good organization, security or perks) and they can't change that because fans are still hung up about how it used to be just people standing in a field.
Well, then so be it. If only small youtubers attend, they can have their field atmosphere where all the youtubers can just walk around the convention and chat with people. I'm sure lots of visitors will enjoy that.
You can't have it both ways and it's not deppy's fault.

Plus i really think some of the smaller youtubers will enjoy not being second best to the "stars".

(Plus2 if i were deppy i'd be salty about my popularity supporting a whole convention while i get nothing, but i'm clearly a greedy bitch)

Touring the US and doing two US conventions is a bit different from the UK, though. It costs relatively little to travel anywhere inside the UK, but it can still cost you thousands to travel to a US youtube con if you don't happen to live in Orlando or Los Angeles. The fact that they capped their tour with US cons isn't like making it so most people get to see the tour and go to the cons. I'm in the US and it's about as feasible monetarily/distance wise for me to go to SITC as it would be Vidcon or Playlist.

I am on the side of it being fair for anyone to be disappointed but extremely strange for people to have placed such high expectations on Dan and Phil to attend an event just because they have before, or think that they have a duty to attend it just because they're British and it's in their home turf. It would be different if they'd signed on this year and people had put money into planning a trip or buying tickets with confidence they'd be there, but that's not really the situation. They never said they'd be there. The disappointment of a fan who thought they'd probably be there is valid, but they owe no one an explanation or apology.

(Though even if they had already signed on, cancelation due to scheduling conflict is a risk you run when you buy a ticket to a large event for any one person, that's why all cons usually warn you not to do that and have policies that explain you don't get a refund if that does happen.)

yes deppy counts as one person now

They've done midweek shows in both America and the UK but so far the dates for Aus have been:
14th August - Sunday - Perth
21st August - Sunday - Melbourne with another date/venue to also be added.

If you get the opportunity to go, I'd encourage it especially with the show being so well put together.

Hi, IDB. Long time no post.

So this morning I was a bit bored and decided to be original. YT was fast to issue a copyright claim on the video preventing monetization (lol):

Image

It would appear to me that AmazingPhil might be under AmazingPhil Ltd. after all, but for whatever reason socialblade isn't displaying it.

They leveled up that power couple status, damn. Working without a network under their own matching companies.

It does really look like Phil is under his own network as well, good on him. And thanks for sharing this info with us.

Maybe their shared channels are going under a shared company ... Dan and Phil Production Limited?

I've seen other YTbers being unverified before, it was either because of a bug or when that said YTber changed their channel name

edit : Joey Graceffa and Jenna Marbles and some other YTbers are not verified anymore as well, so yeah youtube must be bugging

Half of my subscription box isn't verified anymore. I wonder how many of them noticed that.
Superwoman vlogs, superfruit, grace helbig, vlogbrothers, jamie oliver, TED, (even youtube's creator academy channel) and many many more. idk, it feels like 70% of youtube isn't verified anymore.

I am hyped for this and really really happy.

Even tho it makes me wonder a little how things will go from now on and what do they have in store for us after the tour is over (can't wait for that).

/user/danisnotonfire doesn't redirect (and never did), /danisnotonfire does still redirect.

I still find everyone's enthusiasm over them leaving ChannelFlip kinda weird, I don't think it's that deep. MCM's are notoriously evil and they probably just didn't want to fork over anymore money to a network that doesn't really do shit for them anymore when they can just add it to their joint bankaccount. I don't think them going independent and listing the channel under their own companies for tax purposes will be cause of any change that will be noticeable to us as an audience.
