If you're a new fan of D&P and you're curious enough about their relationship to start researching online, I feel like most of the information is right at your fingertips. Just a couple of search queries away, regardless of what Dan wants you to see. :mrgreen: Unless you don't know how to internet.

I was wondering if there was ever a thread people could post pictures/gifs/videos they found but had no idea where they were from? I constantly see posts on Tumblr of confused people and I just thought it would be a good way to satiate knowledge and so I won't tear my hair out. Likewise, this thread could also be used to debunk photoshopped images

Story time below!
I've been a casual fan since 2013, really started to get into them in late 2014.
Never knew about the forum because I've never been in a fandom before, nor have I been the type to WANT TO be in a fandom. Just obsessively watched their videos and followed their social media.
2015 I started falling headfirst into the dumpster thanks to the book coming out and googling certain phrases to get more info. I saw a forum with info about them and started reading a couple pages...then a couple more...then I found myself spending hours at a time reading entire threads.
Then I stumbled upon a post that simply said "Anyone going to the LA signing?"
I was confused because I'd seen literally zero mention of a signing from Deppy ANYWHERE. No Facebook, no twitter, no website, nothing.
It took me a good 20min of Googling just to figure out when and where this LA signing was.
Had it not been for me discovering GG and seeing that post, I would never have known there was a signing. I would not have gone, I would have not have met them both. And I wouldn't be seeing them next week (thanks to the grace of a member here).
So...yeah. I'm beginning to think I'm more of a fan of the phandom than of Deppy. You guys are the creeps sharing your mattresses with me under the overpass to my black tar heroin addiction. I'd be there regardless, but you make the experience.
I was a casual fan of Deppy since 2012, but never was particularly interested in anything until I discovered GG and decided to peek at the D+P forum there. I was hooked, and though I couldn't find voldy at first I did find a google doc basically breaking it down and analyzing it so that was all I needed. I asked for a bit of help on the DD a while ago but the easy version was a piece of cake lol... but it is super easy for find the answers to any questions you have about the Phandom, IF you know what to search for.For example: just searching for Dan's brother's name won't get you any answers as to his timeline/when deleted his blog; it'll just come up with 900 apology videos and long rant-y posts about violating privacy.
Also... being on GG in the early days messed things up a bit, because I know some people lied about certain "proof" but I'm still not 100% sure which of it was fake... so just assume that if someone has SOLID evidence that it's probably fake. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can clear some stuff up for me, that'd be gr8

It's from when Dan and Phil participated in a Cadbury campaign. They and some other people had to try and break world records for dumb things, it got Phil his world record for being the fastest coin stacker. Goals tbh. Not sure what any of that had to do with chocolate but whatever.
As for where the footage came from, it's from a vlog by fellow participant Eddplant. He was one of the dudes outed as a sexual abuser during the scandal in 2014. The video is unlisted, but can be found thanks to Phandirectory. Dan is at 0:38 getting his makeup done.

I STILL haven't guessed the password for the real DD, however the most-known DD password is quite easy to find out in a couple of minutes if you google a latin dictionary
Joking aside, I think it is way too linked with the trends of the moment in Tumblr: someone "omg leaks" voldy --> phans freak out, with their particular approach of "I of course have watched it, we don't talk about it because DP don't want to, but I've watched it and I'll behead anyone who talks about it" --> casual viewers get curious and start to ask questions, the same old Phan blogs offer a good explanation --> phans freak out even more --> casual viewers fall deeper into the trashcan as they click "forward" in a Phan blog. That's how phandom members are born.
