Can I just say I love "The thread that should not be named pls" as a thread name suggestion, and I've been laughing for the past two hours thinking about it. Such a cheeky inside-jokey reference to Gigi, and a strangely appropriate name for a second thread (Kura ). Thanks to everyone for liking "my" suggestion so much though, haha - saw my post got deleted off of that other forum... whatever it was named again.

Here's a topic that's been bugging me that I've addressed in other places but ...

Phil's had TWO separate 10 year anniversary marks. Him starting his channel in February and the anniversary of his first "Hellooo I'm Phil" vlog from 2006. Not a (public) peep from Dan. Nothing. You'd think that Dan would at the very least mention it, but I've seen nothing on twitter, nothing in a live show. Zilch.

What gives?

Yeah it's weird. At least when you consider Dan DID make a big deal about it LAST YEAR. I remember he mentioned it in several interviews and even on a convention stage (Vidcon?), saying Phil was nearing his 10 year anniversary on Youtube like it was a point of pride for Phil and him both. Getting us all hyped up for it months in advance because "wow they're already talking about the anniversary, bet they're planning something!" Yet when the date(s) finally here... nothing. Weird weird. But there's always a lot of slack with those two so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What do you guys think their content will be like after the bour is over? I mean, like after the ban on spoilers is lifted and the phandom can discuss it freely. Phil's content generally relies on funny incidents that happen to him. The bour must be comedic gold for stuff like that.

This! One of the best things about them going touring imo is that random stuff will very likely end up happening to them and they'll get some new stories out of it. Sitting around their London apartment and occasionally going out with friends is a comfy life but it doesn't make for good conversation. I'm looking forward to the tour ending, haha.

As for Phil's hair, you all know he's gone 100% bald eagle style as a show of kinship with the US, and he'll reveal it on stage as soon as the 'Murica tour kicks off by whipping off his wig in front of everyone and screeching like the majestic eagle he is.

I'm glad I live so far away, so I don't even have to consider going to TATINOF, but even if they came here, I don't think paying to travel to the city and the ticket would be worth it.
My obsession with D&P is very weird, because with all the other people I stan, I'd LOVE to meet them, or just see them live. But I really don't feel like this with D&P for some reason.

I relate to this, but in a weird way I almost feel scared/intimidated by the prospect of meeting them. Like I have the chance to meet them this summer at Vidcon but I've debated not even signing up because I'm terrified.... maybe the fact that they're almost a foot taller than me and idk, having them look directly at me instead of through a camera just freaks me out a lil bit
The only youtuber I've met before was Miranda Sings don't judge me I was like 12 and she was less of a clown back then and she was so sweet. Yeah, I was a little weirded out, but I was also with my friend. This time I'll be alone. AGH I'm making myself sound so childish but you have to admit, imagining Dan and Phil both standing directly in front of you and staring at you does sound like nightmare fuel

That being said, I kind of wanna do something EPIC if I meet them so that I'll feel less scared. There's another thread for meeting them and I would love it if you would put some ideas on there, because I think this community is v special and unique and it would be cool if we could make something or have some sort of thing that we do when we take pictures with them idk sorry for rambling bye

I feel the same guys! If they came to Australia i'd seriously think about it but I don't think the cost for me would be worth it. I'd have to travel really far to see them and book hotel rooms etc. I'd be terrified i'd just go and it would be all second hand embarrassment. Even though everyone here has said the tour was good I just can't wrap my head around the idea of them on stage.

I'm also 22 which makes me a bit older than the majority of the audience and i'd just feel weird going. Also I think the screaming by other fans and their general actions etc would ruin the experience. I recently went to a concert where the majority of the audience were 13 - 17 year olds (it was Halsey if you were wondering) and their screaminf and fainting and complete over excitement to the point where they were being annoying completely ruined it for me. I don't want that to happen to Dan and Phil.

Definitely 30 (hey, 31 by the time the show I'm going to happens!) and definitely going, no fucks given. One of the true joys of adulthood is spending your money on things you want to without the fear of being judged. I mean, I'll wave happily to the kids near me as I sip an alcoholic beverage and luxuriate in staring at Dan and Phil from a third row view for two hours.

This thread is moving so fast! I finally had time to read everything. On the radio discussion I am almost certain D&P have a backup plan they aren't telling us. I know its sneaky of them but I like not knowing what's coming. They're both really intelligent guys that plan on having fulfilling careers so leave BBC would be a rash decision I can't see the making. Phil especially wants the house with a koi pond so unless they've been saving (which doesn't seem likely because of the tour budget) they have something else planned to keep them in the limelight.

D&P are what I always refer to as smart famous.It's one of the reasons they are so effortlessly liked and why you can't find many that will bash them. I was looking at gigi's threads for other youtubers and was shocked by how aggressive the discussions went. The D&P forum is very friendly and one of the most level headed on the entire site. That has to do with the fact that D&P have stayed below the radar. They are not extravagant in their spending but humble, they are intelligent but not flashy, they keep secrets but also show us genuine sides of themselves through liveshows and DITL. They respect their fans and encourage their creativity. They are really popular but never act like it which keeps them in favor of the public. They have been really intelligent in how they have dealt with fame and their image and this has helped create the crazy dedicated phandom today. Also phan speculation but at the end of the day they are more than their relationship. I see them being famous for as long as they want than leaving. For some reason I always see it as a joint thing, when one feels like their done the other will quit as well. then they will move to a cottage and have children I don't know where I'm going with this but I felt like writing a trash post

Meerms pointed out that to me just recently, about the noticable difference in the way they look at each other/pay attention to each other in radio shows, when comparing 2013 to more recent ones. Summer 2014 you say, hmmm... I will definitely keep a lookout for it while watching and see if I can catch when the change happens! (Maybe it's just media training? It doesn't look particularly professional for a duo to not look at each other when the other one is telling a story - it's possible they got coached to look more attentive?)

Here are some radioshows highlights from summer 2014 that show the change of air between them (and they do not seem like professional growth lol but rather change in personal dynamic, though rewatching them now I see how it can be easily written off as 'heart eyes' bs). Funny that when talking about change we usually mean Dan bc Phil barely gives out any clues about his mood/state of mind. In these vids I may totally wrongly see Dan being almost apologetic/soft/attentive/messy with speech and Phil (the usual 'mr sunshine') being more eloquent and rational, more in control of the show?Did it cross the line into bad fanfiction territory yet?

Sorry for no timestamps, those are just clips with a lot of good moments. Finger football as a bonus.

This reminds me, I once made a tiny not-so-accurate timeline of what D&P did together in 2013. There was that (super false lol) rumour that Dan and Lily Melrose had been seen making out at parties in 2013, and that D&P were on a break and on bad terms. Didn't believe it but it got me curious to see how theoretically possible it would be for D&P to actually be on bad terms in 2013. And as it turns out... probably not very likely?

Probably why they stopped doing liveshows together that year tbh - they did waay more things together than they ever used to before, and I guess you gotta cut down on the interaction somehow as not to drive each other crazy. It's possible it was tense until they stopped doing those? Idk. Summer of 2013 seems to have been a good time, anyway. (Questionmark on early 2013?)

I was doing my radioshows marathone from the latest to the earliest and did not watch every show from 2013 yet, but it does seem like they had a lot on their plate that year, weekly radio+vids+conventions, Dan hitting 1 mil subscribers etc. In 2013 I see Dan having a delayed stress reaction to all the popularity that fell on him in 2012 and maybe not dealing very well with it, Phil being the one constantly exposed to it? Also getting fame but not being able to benefit from it yet, doing everything bbc asked them to, working for future without immediate results? And yeah, now they are doing even more, but their activities seem better planned and spaced in time, while then they had to produce something on weekly basis nonstop. And I agree that there are a lot of good examples of them being rather fond of each other in 2013. Maybe their dynamics is constantly fluctuating in the space of several months rather than years, so it's hard to pinpoint exact events that contributed to its change? I actually notice some seasonal specifics, like every year they seem so cheerful around each other in mid Oct-early Dec.

I'm 29 and I would definitely go see them live if they did a show somewhere nearby (but hey, I'm in Italy and I doubt that would ever happen) if only to be weirded out at seeing them in presence and not through a screen... but I wouldn't ever go to a m&g or even to say hello if I happened to see them on a street, is that weird?

I'm also on team zipper shoes, mostly because I think the ninja ones are much much worse by comparison (ugh, that ugly shape. they should wear more italian designers, tyvm)

Dan and Phil did come to my hometown on the UK leg of the tour and it didn't even really occur to me to go lol. I love them but I think the show itself is definitely aimed at the younger members of the audience and I figured watching it would just be a massive cringe-fest for me. I get second-hand-embarrassment extremely easily.

Plus VIP isn't even tempting to me because I'm not one of those people who has a great desire to meet the famous people I admire. I can't think of anyone I'd want to go to a meet and greet for and if I saw a famous person in the street I'd not bother them even if it was someone I was really into.

I admire your attitude! I've got no chance of going to a show so it's all spectulation for me but i'd probably consider going if they came to my country. I'd probably just get drunk with my friend and stare at them for two hours like you! But its the whole actually having to admit to my friends/family (who will ask me where I'm going all weekend) that I like them enough to go see them live haha.

well, i tried to hide it under my coat, and we somehow managed to leave via the guest entrance (where all the other youtubers that had gone were standing), there was one of their tour people standing there and he caught me and said "you can't take that" so i handed it back over obvs. in my defence i was very drunk it hadn't occurred to me about the rest of the tours and i just wanted a memento to take home (i did however end up with bundles of gold tickertape that i am still finding in my handbag to this day). we had such a bizarre evening for the last night of london, we even managed to end up moving from our seats to two seats in the middle of the front row as they were just empty.

where do i start? yes, it's a full on sketch, but it's hilarious. there is such a range of things, you'll go there not expecting half the stuff they do. yeah, there is some cringey moments featuring llamas and maltersers (way to go 2012 dan) and maybe some fanfiction, but there is also a lot of talent, a lot of hard work, and the best fricking ending you could ever imagine. i haven't laughed so much at a show in a long time. i mean, it can't have been that bad, i did go and see it more than once, and i was a full on bour skeptic when they announced it all.
