The fact that they have to delay instas to avoid stalkers makes me really sad, and kinda feel like...they shouldn't be so afraid to meet people in the wild? I get that they do lots of M&Gs more than a lot of youtubers do but not everyone can afford that kind of ticket and running into them in the wild could be their only chance. I don't think one instagram is going to attract enough people for it to become an issue, but maybe 1-4 people who really love D&P would get the chance to run into them what's the big deal?

I respect deppy's decisions but I just don't see the big deal about delaying instas/meeting fans in the wild. Anywhere they go they're gonna have a risk of meeting people so I don't really get the precautions?

Sorry if this has already been addressed but does Drake go with them everywhere? Or is he just for the shows/events?

Wow. I haven't been paying attention to the amount of seats left for the last US show but last time I looked the theatre was essentially pretty empty! They've sold/given out a significant amount of tickets it seems.

Anybody know 1)where are the cameras going to be set up? In the UK weren't they at the back? Did some people say it was in the mezzanine section? 2) approx. how many "free" tickets are being given out? and 3)where are the seats for these free tickets?

In the UK the cameras were all over the place. They had a main one on a track at the front that they removed 3 rows from the front for. I would assume they had a few further back and there were also people with cameras walking around filming the audience.

They did exactly the same thing for the last night of London (that was added super late) & gave away cheap tickets (for £10) as it wasn't selling. I also went to the iTunes thing which was a few days before that show and each of the 50 people there got free tickets to the evening show too.

Plus after Christina Grimmie (which was even a planned M&G environment) I'm not going to begrudge anybody their personal safety precautions/comfort levels.

Knowing a bit about the business, my guess is that the company they hired to produce the "television" coverage of the show did not want to commit to camera positions until they physically scouted the location with D&P and TATINOF's tech crew, and saw the sightlines / how the performance was blocked. The perfect opportunity to do so would have been sometime between June 19-20th. (one of the merch girls has a VidCon banner in her tweet.) Once the positions were finalized, seats reserved for the cameras could be tweaked, and any unneeded seats could be released for sale / giveaway. Plus I'm absolutely sure that D&P don't want to obstruct any of their fan's view of the show - they want their fans to have an awesome time, and that is commendable.

However, the evening show had previously been sold out - are they releasing additional seats for that show too? Or are they going handheld and striking the audience camera positions? Hmmm...

I didn't even consider the Christina Grimmie situation to be at all similar to meeting people in the wild but that's a good point. They could be worried about safety which is valid. But to me it just seems like they're actively avoiding meeting people in the wild by posting delayed instas and that kinda rubs me the wrong way, but I don't have much right to feel that way since they do so much for their fans with this tour and all the M&Gs as well as cons. And you're right, they could get swarmed, I just don't think that's super likely tbh.

Situations like these are the main reason why I always side eye theories (Phan related or otherwise) that assume Deppy are some mastermind planners and control freaks and that they almost always know what they're doing. They're kings of chaos to me. Obviously it's usually a controlled chaos and it's worked out quite well for their lives, but still. During this tour they're breaking their own records methinks

well imo the fact that they fuck up like this is proof that they are control freaks, if they payed people to do stuff for them this wouldn't be happening, so yeah, chaotic control freaks, i actually like that about them, it makes them more interesting to follow than Perfect Marketing Gleamers™

also i think dizzy is right, they are doing the second show just to film it and they don't care about making money our of it, now, why didn't they film in another location where they did have two sold out shows idk, maybe it was bad planning, maybe they really liked that theatre

I do that all the time with my friends, where we take pictures through the day and live the moments god this generation lol but really, I don't like to be searching for the right picture and the right filter right after I took the pic because I don't want to be antisocial and stare at my phone to get on social media and post it just later in the day when we're not hanging out anymore/bored at home. idk, I didn't read too much in it.

Dan and Phil by no means have an obligation to let us know where they are at any given time. Not at all. I just think it's silly to be avoiding fans to that extent, when the fans are literally what made them. But on the flipside, members of the phandom have been known to not respect boundaries, so I can see where they're coming from as well. It's cool to meet a fan who walks up calmly and says hi, it's not cool to meet a fan in the middle of a starbucks when they're screaming and jumping up and down. I can see that.

Seats: I am thinking they really didn't plan to sell the seats for that show. When I was working for a theater group, if it's a huge production we record two performances. One performance is like a technical dress rehearsal with "perfect" everything for documentation purposes. It also allows recording in all angles without disruption. The other show has the biggest crowd. But that's for an ordinary theatre and not the Dolby.

Yeah I do look at the matinee show more of a dress rehearsal cum camera shots/angles for the documentary; as the evening show is filmed too.
