Oh so maybe just a supportive like then. That's cute. Does not seem too likely but I got curious if the boys (or Phil at least) was considering an LA move!

Has no one noticed Phil's recent like on Twitter?? I cannot screenshot or link sorry I'm on my phone and not sure how to use this website yet too properly but I will quote it:
It's from a girl called Eileen Greenman (?? Not sure who) and it says:
2 years ago today I moved to Los Angeles and it was the best decision I've ever made. Trust yourself and make the risk.
What do you guys think of this??
(Apologizing for my bad English!)Both Dan and Phil follow her on Twitter. I've never heard the name, but she seems to be someone in the community who works with Ingrid Nilsen (and maybe other YouTubers) as some kind of management, judging from her LinkedIn.

Thanks for the info eevee.
Honestly if I were having some private time, and saw a bunch of people waiting on me (which I think is a bit creepy, sorry, and one of the reasons I would never want to be famous), I would get the heck out of there as quickly as I could as well. In my opinion, just because someone is famous, doesn’t mean that they owe us their time, but I know other people think differently about that.
And it does seem like the second time they were in a hurry, and well their plans can’t always be put on hold because fans want some time with them, if that was the case they would probably never actually get anywhere.
Where I live you can easily spot some famous Dutch people, but it is always my philosophy to not bother them and let them get on with it. Tough to be fair, I don’t really care that much for most famous Dutch people so that helps.
And welcome princesspeach.
I don't really see Dan and Phil moving to the states any time soon.

I have sympathy for them not wanting to meet 10 fans when they're out having dinner in London. However they were at a con and expecting to go out to dinner without meeting at least 1 fan is completely unrealistic. I think it was rude to run away from us when we weren't at all being loud or pushy and patiently waiting for them. I would understand their aversion if we were pressed up against the restaurant window watching them or otherwise freaking out, but honestly we were all being civil people so I don't understand their running away so quickly. Also I would understand if there were 30+ of us but there were only a few people and it wouldn't have taken them long at all to meet us. Maybe I'm just salty, but I'm not really holding it against them, I'm just mildly annoyed.SquishPhan wrote:Thanks for the info eevee.

Also, I don't understand Youtubers at cons being "in a rush" unless they're on their way to a meetup or panel. This was after con hours so if they were rushing anywhere, it was to a hotel or party. Big whoop.

I stand with SquishPhan and IckleMissMayhem on this one. I, for one, wouldn't be comfortable knowing that some fans are waiting for me to finish eating so they can have a quick free m&g.IckleMissMayhem wrote:SquishPhan wrote:Thanks for the info eevee.

I think there are more places they could have gone to other than a hotel or a party. I mean we don't know what their plans were so they could have gone to meet someone important for all we know .eevee wrote:Also, I don't understand Youtubers at cons being "in a rush" unless they're on their way to a meetup or panel. How did they know that you were waiting for them? From what you said you were just sitting in a group of people outside the restaurant, not really looking in their direction or anything. Maybe they weren't running from you, maybe they just left through a side entrance because they planned to do that anyway, maybe that was the fastest way to where they wanted to goeevee wrote:I have sympathy for them not wanting to meet 10 fans when they're out having dinner in London. Why would meet ups and panels be the only reason for them to be in a rush? I imagine there are meetings behind the scene or they could just simply have plans to meet friends for god knows what. You could argue that meeting friends isn't a good excuse to avoid fans, but that's the way to lose friendseevee wrote: Also, I don't understand Youtubers at cons being "in a rush" unless they're on their way to a meetup or panel. I don't want to sound dismissive of what obviously wasn't a satisfying experience to you, but this is the first time i've heard about them being anything but nice and friendly, usually when they are spotted in the wild, fans and their parents are impressed by how polite they are. So that makes me think they just really didn't have time or maybe just had a meetup and were out of nerves, who knows.

So my sister, her friend, and I got back from a swim meet in Texas and we ended up running into Dan and Phil in the baggage claim at Phoenix international airport. Sadly I didn’t get a picture but I’m happy my sister and her friend got one! It was nice meeting you for about 2 minutes Dan and Phil! Thanks for stopping!!

Eileen is also one of the organizers of Playlist Live and has been involved since the beginning of the event's existence. If you've ever watched Cat's vlogs Playlist vlogs to see the boys, you've probably heard her mention her. For example in the Sea World vlog, Cat said Eileen might join them (she didn't though).
I think are quite attached to their British roots, and Phil would never move that far away from his family. The phandom has speculated about them moving to LA before, after this:
(also sparked a #phandivorce debate at the time before that hashtag was even a thing)
The only Dutch celeb I ever see is Ali B. The novelty has worn of after all these years tbh. Nice guy though.

I feel like that's so very Dutch in general. You see Dutch celebs in Amsterdam living their lives, picking their kids up from school or just walking around the city and no one really bothers them. No one cares.SquishPhan wrote: Where I live you can easily spot some famous Dutch people, but it is always my philosophy to not bother them and let them get on with it. That's a good point, they could've not really noticed us but the way in which they dashed out gave us the impression that they didn't want to meet us. They didn't dash to the restaurant lol. I guess it could've been a coincidence, which I didn't consider. But the restaurant was kinda open to the lobby with like half walls so they could've heard us say "dan and phil are in there" to the other people if they were sitting close enough to the lobby...but then again i'm not sure where they were sitting since we weren't really watching for them, just socializing and getting to know the other fans.wtfamidoinghere wrote:How did they know that you were waiting for them? I feel like at a con everyone is a Youtuber so if a Youtuber is late to a party or to meet a friend they can just be like "sorry I was meeting subscribers" and it would be totally understood. Like I said this is a con and I feel like meeting fans at a con is to be expected more than meeting them in London or where they live. Meetings behind the scenes is something I didn't consider either haha. You are bringing up great points!wtfamidoinghere wrote:Why would meet ups and panels be the only reason for them to be in a rush? Thank you for not wanting to sound dismissive of my experience. I was a little disappointed but like I said I'm not holding a grudge and I don't mean to sound bitter all these years later.

I think it is very Dutch indeed. We just have a whole different approach to famous people and the culture that goes with it, which I like. After all those famous people are just people too.Catallena wrote:I feel like that's so very Dutch in general. I think picture delays and evading fans in situations where they didn't enter an area expecting an impromptu meet and greet is completely fine. Dan especially makes it pretty obvious that he'll be polite to a fan in person if it's an unexpected encounter but he's never going above and beyond to encourage that.
Youtube conventions, to youtubers, are not the same as they are to fans. They're networking opportunities, they're a chance to see professional acquaintances they only rarely see, they're a chance to film collabs and hold meetings, they're a chance to get a bunch of interviews out of the way at once in a convenient setting. I'm just repeating people here, but there are any number of things they could have been going to do that would have put them in a hurry.
But even if they were just going to meet friends or to a party or even back home, I still think that's fair. I don't think either of them would hold the view that by showing up at a youtube con, that they are agreeing to spend as much time as possible meeting and greeting fans. They agree to appear on certain panels and they agree to a designated m&g time period, and that's where the responsibility ends.
It's useless to compare them to what other youtubers too because Dan and Phil set their own rules, whether we like it or not. (Like having channels that still continue to grow despite a dismal upload schedule, and a book that is a glorified scrapbook yet still got some of the best and warmest critic reviews of anything a youtuber has put out.)

So twitter is launching a new app called Engage, that's basically meant for celebrities to improve their ability to use twitter and talk to fans.
Wonder if Dan and Phil will use it, and how much it'll change how they respond to tweets from fans? It sounds like this will basically reward fans with a lot of followers and fans that spam them a ton by making sure their tweets get seen first. The app includes three main tabs. Engage highlights the most important interactions you've had on Twitter, and includes mentions from users who are verified, followed by a lot of your followers, or interact with you a lot.

This doesn't sound like my kind of app, not really a fan.
