The fact that he didn't give credit and also took many of the questions from the app is what's so I mean at this point, we know Youtubers are the worst at giving credit where it's needed for challenges and tags. But the fact that the "challenge" is already in app form for everyone to use, is what makes this just kinda bad...

well, the original game they got it from was already in a board game form (that dan+phil owned) that everyone could use, and they still profited massively from the app they made to rip it off...

Re phandenial: In one of the first UK tatinof shows Dan shook his head and mouthed a "no" when someone screamed "Is phan real?" in the audience. And them Martyn denied it when someone asked at the merch stand. Not on video, but a denial nevertheless. Also when filming the documentary there was the girl who said his eyes said yes

That makes me sad, but at least they/Dan hasn't put effort into denying it online since 2013. He could've just ignored the question but when faced with that question and having to make a quick decision, "no" is a safer answer than something like "youll never know." Although I would love for Dan to switch from "no" to "it's not time for you to know" or something ambiguous. However if he said "youll never know" I would even more because I'm holding onto hope that someday they'll just spill and let us know everything.

Martyn I can't really take as a reliable source, since he probably feels like it's not his business to tell his brother's fans anything about his brother's personal life...like I would expect him to say no even if phan were real, for the sake of Phil's privacy? Like, what is he supposed to say? D&P clearly aren't out so if Martyn just shrugged or was like "i don't know" people would take that as a yes no doubt. I'm assuming Martyn knows the truth but unless he says "no" people are going to take it as a yes. And D&P clearly aren't ready for the answer to that question to be yes.

So if he said yes ----> phan confirmed
If he says he doesn't know ----> it's obviously to be interpreted as confirmation
If he denies ---> Well actually, he means yes but he can't say it.

Dan mouthed no ---> but his eyes said yes !
Phan wins every time
Personally, i can understand why they have given up refuting phan

This is really true... I mean if phan isn't real the only way people will believe it is if they date other people. Even if phan is real, from all of this I can see why it's hard to talk about the truth about their relationship/friendship/whatever it is that they have.

That's how I understood it as well.

Nobody says that them saying no actually means yes (well, except that his-eyes-said-yes-girl). But if they really are a couple, and they don't want that relationship to be public, well, then lying when faced with a direct question is the only option, isn't it?

I completely agree with this and Martyn's response. Some people don't understand that Martyn's response was out of respect and common decency. Some are under the impression that if phan was real then Martyn would have to be honest and under no obligation to lie for his brother. They think that there are no repercussions to coming out when you are open to a large audience. Sometimes speculations about not coming out and reluctance to reveal sexuality by some people reveals their complete naivety and sheltered life. Similarly I find it silly that some people argue that if they were together they would have come out already-the world isn't that simple. Sorry for the rant.

To me it's just a given that anything about Phil's life that he chooses not make public Martyn would not share with a fan just because they are gross and inappropriate enough to go and hound him for info and Phil's private life.

And of course that's not to say Martyn's denials mean yes just that they are essentially meaningless because whatever the truth is Martyn's answer would remain the same because his not confirming anything unless Phil's already done so.

I always find it quite amusing that when there are videos like this no one really acknowledges them and this 'girlfriend' comment of his just gets brushed under the carpet as 'well it was almost 2012'. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Dan is straight at all, I just wanted to point out these kind of videos never really get discussed when talking about the past. I would be very interested to see the phandoms reaction should he say something like this now.

just to clarify, i understand w/ martyn obviously, a no isn't really indicative of the truth.
i'm talking about their.. less obvious denials? like fighting over who gets the tour bus beds, for me that is a denial. i take the truth as it is, mostly. while i don't deny their chemistry and their past, until something definitive comes out in the present, i am going to assume they are only what they say they are - best friends.

It could be true that's Martyn's motive but you'd have to make some assumptions for that reasoning to make sense, like that they are actually hiding a relationship and Martyn knows about this.
If you presume all of that to be true it effectively doesn't matter what he answers. You can't escape confirmation bias, because you've already reached your conclusion about the reality of the situation and use that belief to colour the answer.
Maybe is well placed to answer and maybe his answer is to be taken at face value.
But yea, we'll never end the phan debate. I have to say at this point the only thing that would really upset me if they turned out to have no deep relationship at all, be it platonic or romantic. That would just leave a foul taste.
