This community continues to be wild, I'm jumping across topic to topic trying to stay updated while balancing my day-to-day life and it's just a bit too much right now

We've moved on but people poking fun at Phil's hair in the tweet:
I'm dense as heck so I can't tell if people are being sarcastic or not, but I'm 99% sure that's just his hair being weird and not a headband or anything. I have fringe similar to him (#dontjudge) and if I'm not careful, it can look like that. It's basically the under layer of his hair being pushed straight across, and then the upper layer of hair falling over it. Does that make sense? Does it matter?

Overdone topic and sorry if I accidentally start a discussion people are tired of hearing, but I honestly like their haircuts but not always how they style the fringes. More specifically, these days it seems like both of them push their fringe so that it's just like a straight triangle going across their forehead, rather than letting the natural hairs stick out and make their own shape. They do it on purpose, whenever they adjust it you can see them pushing the hairs to make a solid line, but I like it when it looks more natural/has an actual hair shape to it, idk. That's what I do with my hair, at least

Feel really bad having brought his weight in the past. He really should not be insecure about his looks at all! He is very handsome imo. Also I think he is sich much more than his looks. Everybody is

I hope he is too. I felt so bad for him when I was watching the liveshow. There's a weird disconnect between how he acts and what he says...like he seems kind of nonchalant, like he doesn't really care what people say about his body, and he finds the mixed messages amusing. But then he just keeps talking about it, insisting that lots of people think he's skinny, that he's lost weight, and complaining about the gif where he looks fat, and, on and and and on. And then when he talked about his existential crisis relapse and throws in at the end "gaining weight"...sigh.

For the Justin Bieber discussion in the liveshow, I think it is very interesting. Several times, he has showed great empathy and support for young people in the public eye who might have not behaved in the best way possible. (i can think about that vine guy who was/is homophobic). I do think it partly comes from his own experience. He knows it's probably super tough to grow up under such scrutiny that leaves no place for very common mistakes. People like Justin Bieber are indeed sometimes too harshly judged because they are expected to comply to unrealistic standard of "perfection". I don't think Dan really talks about himself but he certainly can relate on a smaller scale I think. And I am also convinced he is actually a very empathetic person in general.
It's funny because he doesn't seem to like people that much and he said he doesn't like to go outside and interact, talk to people. He makes jokes about losing his faith in humanity reading comments and about how "hell is others". But at the same time he does like people in a sense, in the way he refuses to judge too harshly. I can relate to that a lot tbh.

I don't think he was literally talking about himself, but like you say, I think he's drawing on his own experiences. I'm sure he can relate to some of the things he was saying, like:

"I suppose Justin should feel free to define himself; you know, he was pushed by the music industry to become the Justin Bieber he was and now he’s becoming the Justin Bieber he wants to be and are we supposed to judge Justin Bieber for just being who he wants to be?"

I bet he's kind of struggled with balancing who he was with who he wants to be, and dealing with phandom expectations and how to maintain a certain image, etc.

I agree he is quite an empathetic person, in my opinion. I'm like 100% sure a lot of his "ugh humanity lol" shtick is just a mask of sorts.

re: us tour, i can't wait for it to start, all that reminiscing good phandom moments made me wish we had something about their lives to actually talk about, not just videos, sometimes, when they can be arsed to post one

one of the things i'm most looking forward to is to trying to figure out the bus layout, are they gonna sleep in the bunk beds or use the back room as a bedroom? the bunk beds would be the closet appropriate option, but those look very uncomfortable, especially for gigantic humans like them

not terribly excited for us tour stuff either, it's all meh to me at this point. even the cheapest tickets were too much for me for the la area ($50 for the nosebleeds? no thanks)

on the topic of dans weight i think its just one of those things that doesn't bother him much anymore. i'm sure what keeps him up at night isn't necessarily his looks (from the sparsity of mentions) but probably his content (again aggregating from comments). it makes me kind of sad and uncomfortable hearing it but his body has gone through a lot of changes through the years so i can only hope he's doing alright and made peace with it.

regarding the possible justin bieber projection, i think it ties into dan's round-a-bout way of telling us something through something else. his natural sympathy (as someone pointed out) was probably heightened by his internet days, god knows how much he much cringe looking at old comments he'd made online. when you've shoehorned yourself into such a tight spot and censored yourself so much i think it acts as an indirect way of him being authentic to his audience, effectively hiding behind a wall of "well i liked/saw/thought this, here have it and take of it what you will". the human rights speech he mentioned comes to mind through all of this, but standing up for others in the public eye is somewhat in the same strain of "please be forgiving of me"

Just wanted to say first that I loved this whole post, can't go back and watch the show/respond to everything now (stupid uni *grumbles*), but I totally know what you mean about the 'is he actually talking about himself' vibes, he does it with Louis Tomlinson too, I think.
