Aww look it's Dan's first breakup.
"I was so awful for ages", someone give that boy a hug.
(Phil's first breakup for comparison)

Is it weird for them to joke about proposals? They're so comfortable with each other maybe it's not strange for them but it feels strange. Has one of them proposed? Was it in Japan?spaceguitar wrote:Also the whole proposal situation was very funny to me in relation to Phan. It really had me wondering about their relationship. Its like, has one of them proposed so they know what they are talking about? Has neither of them proposed, they are in a relationship, and they are just chill about joking about hypothetical proposals? Are they totally not in a relationship?
Agree that they've been planning on staying together forever plz :] < 3 since the beginning. Don't know about a formal proposal. On one hand they like traditions if their Christmas habits are any hint. On the other hand it's hard to imagine either of them on one knee with a ring. If I had to I would guess Phil would propose.eevee wrote:I think they've been planning on staying together forever since the very beginning, so I don't think a formal proposal is warranted. Maybe one day while they're sitting on the couch or something, one of them will be like "hey you wanna get rings?" but that'd probably be the extent of it.

Maybe one of them really proposed in Japan. Maybe that's why Dan has been so Phil Trash #1 since last year and why Dan is dropping sexuality and phan hints like hot potatoes. Maybe 2015-16 Heart Eyes Howell is every time Dan looks at Phil and thinks 'that's my fiance'. And every time he looks at the camera like 'this guy' he means 'can you believe I said yes to this guy'. Hard not to feel romantic when you're recently engaged.
Agreed that I too find it hard to imagine one of them in one knee. I go more for the "mutual agreement after a conversation about it on a pizza night"spider wrote:Agree that they've been planning on staying together forever plz :] < 3 since the beginning. YAAAAS that was what made me so happy for this video, I was smiling all the way through.spaceguitar wrote: I'm not sure that I saw them as hyperaware of each other. They did this funny thing where they kept a running monologue basically taking turns talking (idk if i'm explaining this well, but they just seemed like they have been spending a lot of time together. They were basically finishing each other's sentences).
I really appreciated how it seemed like Phil kind of acknowledged Dan more in this video? A lot of the time he doesn't really look at Dan or respond to things that Dan does, but in this video he directed comments at Dan. Ex: 'Where did your eye go?' and 'You used to climb up there a lot'. I found that enjoyable- it felt like it showed their relationship more.
This gave me life, I still have theories running around my mind and it's the next day. I just... the thing about planning marriages and everything made me so happy because it's something I don't think deppy from the past would have included in a video.spaceguitar wrote:Also the whole proposal situation was very funny to me in relation to Phan. Same. I suppose, with a game like the Sims, proposals are nearly unavoidable considering the way they're playing the game: centered around Dil building financial stability, a relationship, and a family, while friendships, career, and hobbies take a backseat (Mmm hmm). But when you have them offhandedly saying shit like "When you want to propose, you're talking about spending a life together", you gotta wonder how much they apply that to their own lives. On the surface, it's like, well no shit, that's literally what a marriage proposal is... but D&P have already committed their lives to each other in many ways( *ahem* ... ), so if they were the types to marry, I feel like a proposal fits in with them as well.spaceguitar wrote: Also the whole proposal situation was very funny to me in relation to Phan. Too lazy for timestamps, but the part where he's going off on Dil's date outfit from outside the restaurant was very ~dramatic. Otherwise, I've gotta agree, Dan is just generally campy on camera (and the camp intensities vary from video to video).uglyamerican wrote:Can anyone timestamp some "campy" Dan on the latest Dil vid? I watched it, and I didn't notice Dan acting particularly "campy" - maybe I'm just used to Dan being Dan and that's normal on-camera behavior for him? IDK.
Have they even made any "Waaah I'm single" jokes throughout this entire series so far? They've been quick with the party/social life jokes or the working out at the gym jokes. But they hardly ever refer back to themselves when it comes to Dil's love life. Ngl I view that as pretty solid pro-phan evidence, and antiphans/non-believers can suck my big toe on that.LurkingTrash wrote: Also, someone mentioned about them not making "I'm so single" jokes and I'm too so f*cking relived about it, when I saw the title I had to get ready to take these jokes and I'm still thankful that none was made.

They are definitely the closest couple friends I've ever seen. Or maybe they've been planning it since like the vday vid when Dan got back from India in 2010. Maybe they were like "so want to get married someday?" (a little more formal but you know what I mean)LurkingTrash wrote:spider wrote:Thank you for making my day.spaceguitar wrote:

There's a disagreement. Can't see them literally on one knee proposing but I don't think they're that casual. There is still romance. Do you remember this?LurkingTrash wrote:Agreed that I too find it hard to imagine one of them in one knee. I go more for the "mutual agreement after a conversation about it on a pizza night"

Her prep work probably involves getting production orders in, figuring out quantities of things they'll need, etc - I'm just guessing?LurkingTrash wrote:have you guys seen this? That's so early! idk bc I don't understand anything about these business but feels like it's early because there's still a month left until aus.

I was talking about this with a friend (who doesn't know anything about outside of a few videos and some word-vomiting I've subjected her to), and I told her I had a ~feeling something like that went down in Japan, but I obviously couldn't back it up with anything concrete and in the end she was probably doing some heavy eye-rolling. If you feel like elaborating on why you think that, I'll send you lots of virtual cherry blossoms.alittledizzy wrote:

This is why I always find it odd when people suggest that Dan and Phil might have some kind of non-traditional relationship (friends with benefits, etc.) ...they seem to be very traditional people in that area of their lives. The way they have talked about getting married and wanting children in the past (separately) suggests that they are both pretty happy to follow the traditional trajectory of settling down with a nice person, buying a house and having a few kids. Unless they have privately changed their minds recently and have decided to become polyamorous swingers, I stand by the assumption that they either have a traditional relationship or are not together at all.Philena wrote:I agree with you, spider. But, as life partners go, these two are seemingly the soppiest traditionalists in the universe. Seriously.

Also find it slightly funny that Dan would consider himself to be ''counter culture'' or whatever because he's pretty conventional in other areas of his life as well. Even though his career choice is somewhat unorthodox, the way that play the YouTube game is very conventional and safe.
[offtopic]As someone who can't imagine themselves having kids at all I'm always a bit perplexed by people who are eager to have them, but to each their own I guess.[/offtopic]

As far as tangible evidence: Dan's accidental tweet favorite, mostly. Seems like the misstep of someone who was giddy with unrealistic planning, maybe riding a post-proposal high.Lain wrote:I was talking about this with a friend (who doesn't know anything about outside of a few videos and some word-vomiting I've subjected her to), and I told her I had a ~feeling something like that went down in Japan, but I obviously couldn't back it up with anything concrete and in the end she was probably doing some heavy eye-rolling.
