Oh lordy, this is going to be so cringe, I am going to physically feel it.

Let's not all pretend like we even slightly think Dan is going to go off-brand and be frank and honest and actually call himself out. The entire thing is going to be Sesame Street-ready with jabs at talking in memes like a loser and how is emo hair still a thing it's 2016 and "Oh Dan, no one cares about Kanye just shut up already and don't you have any other outfits? I mean come on. We counted every one."
I think the most edgy thing he's going to talk about would be something like "No one wants you alone, it's the DAN AND PHIL SHOW"

That being said, my body is ready for the multiple replays I will be subjecting myself to the second it's uploaded.

Bring it on, baby.

I've been mentally preparing for the cringe since I saw the tweet yesterday. Dan's last video alone (the one about exams) was a whole new level of cringe, I don't see how this could end well. I'm bracing myself, guys.

Also, someone asked in the last thread (I think?) where to watch past radioshows. There are several channels on Youtube, though the some of them are not active: Orly Knop (last upload was a year ago), omgitsphan (last upload was 7 months ago), phanshows (still active), danisnotonfirevyou1 (snippets of the radio shows, sadly not active).

Phil's Liveshow was so boring yesterday. I don't think he should have bothered tbh. He knew that he was leaving. He should have just skipped a week instead of making a 30 minutes show.
It did make me really want a Magnum though. (Not the white chocolate ones because they are horrible)

I am not going to judge it until I have watch it tonight to see if he stays on Brand or if it Dan Howell roasting DINOF. I am really hoping for the second one.

I kinda think that he actually likes it when Phil is the one who did it, the way some hardcore fans will see the bright side of any Deppy videos despite their awfulness sometimes (exhibit A: reason why alfie has many subscribers)

I kinda understand where Dan is coming from when he says he doesn't like challenge videos. I think what he meant is those things like tasting candy and chubby bunny that people do only because it's popular and easy; and not something that creators do because they are interested in doing it, do you get what I mean?

Tldr I think Dan is a special snowflake wannabe sometimes (same) who can't see his angel bean do anything wrong, but I still love him no matter what. I'm not salty, I swear.

I liked the liveshow, though I was out all day, saw the tweet about it being early and loaded up YouNow just in time to hear him say "goooooodbye!" followed by a cute animal noise ofc. So I had a read on here and went in with low expectations. I enjoyed all the ice-cream talk, didn't agree with his method of eating a Magnum being the only way to do it. You get the full Magnum experience, in my opinion, if you eat it with the chocolate shell on so you get both that and the ice-cream together. If he prefers all the shell and then the ice-cream, you do you, Phil, and don't ice-cream-shame the rest of us :sideeye:

I'm looking forward to whatever Dan's come up with, it'll be funny, expressive and all that jazz, and that's pretty much enough for me. It'd be great if he feels comfortable enough to roast himself, but if it's too close, fair enough, and he's done 17 (?) fails by now including his worst fears (I wouldn't share mine) even if most weren't so deep. I've been sending him all the virtual hugs for the last two weeks anyway for having and working through pneumonia (while remembering it pushed my dad's (after 6 years of cancer) over the edge in under two weeks last year before I discovered these boychiks [Yiddish term of endearment btw]) so I'm waving a flag for "give Dan a break".

Ugh I hate the roast challenge....I have hope that he does well though. I'm ready to cringe my arse off though. My fingers are crossed. If he does rap I don't think that would be too bad. He is musically inclined as well as a big fan of the genre. I hope he's honest.

yes, I don't understand why people are already hating that he's white and raps? I mean, I might just be dumb and not understand why it could be bad being white+rapping (like, it took me literal years of trying to understand why it's bad for someone white to have dreads) but I see it as okay if he can do it? despite being white? I think he can pull it off and do a good rap or if he does it ironically I also don't see much of a problem of this musical part of the video.

I would recommend you watch Emma Blackery's Roast Yourself video, I think that's how it should be done. Honest and incredibly transparent. But we know what we're going to get from Dan.

I'm lowkey 24/7 upset that people don't sneakily record eeeeverything that happens at Tatinof, all the time, just in case.

Because imagine if we had just one simple audio recording of this:

= Phandom history

But nooooooo...! Since no one bloody cared to record it, instead it'll be forever just a rumour, worth NOTHING. :(

Hi guys!

I enjoyed the ls but I didn't love it, just like everyone else. Nothing too exciting although I have no fudging idea how Phil lived his life without watching Avatar the last airbender, that series is amazing. I wonder why he's watching it now? He's making me want to watch it for a third time lmao. Also hearing Phil say "magnum" was hilarious to me because to me, magnums have always been extra big condoms, I found out there was also magnum ice cream bars like way after I found out about the condoms.

I love the dogshadowing. I hope they don't get a weird crossbreed of dog though, don't they have extra health problems? But I guess purebreds do too. I just really hope they adopt instead of buying and supporting puppy mills. p.s that husky chihuahua looks like it's ready to die. poor thing lol.

I wonder if they're allowed a dog in their apartment? Or if they'd move first? Anyone know anything about this?

I agree that Emma Blackery's roast yourself was good, I hope that Dan gets real with his if that is in fact what this video is. I think it should be Dan Howell roasting Dan Howell, that's the camp I'm in, because I don't really like DINOF so I obviously don't really want it to be DINOF. However it will most likely be DINOF roasting DINOF. Oh well.

I agree with what apathy said about Dan making it intentionally bad so that we'll laugh with him. I could totally see that.

Here's to hoping it uploads after I'm out of work

Rap as a form of comedy by and for white people is questionable though. It can give a message that it's okay for white people (and non-black PoC) to make fun of black culture and that rap is 'funny'... Like when a white person raps as a joke, they often get praise for being 'brave' and making fun of themselves. Meanwhile black people who try to get rap the same respect as other musical genres and recognized as legit art don't get taken seriously...

Yes!

I despise the concept of roast videos, saw a pair of them but I hate the concept and the execution of it.Also like some of you I don't wanna a dan howell one but would accept a dinof one, otherwise this has the potential to become unwatchable worse than the connor collab video; I think he has the potential but I'll probs wait and read here before.

I think I just find it cringe when I see white people rapping badly and they don't know they are bad. It's like no guys, only we can get away with that  Sometimes I think it can be kind of disrespectful too like Iggy Azalea etc But in this case I think it'll be fine - I think it will either be Dan trying to be bad to be funny or actually being surprisingly good so I'm not going to dislike it.

The liveshow was pretty good imo, i love hearing him talk but after 40 minutes or so i usually start zoning out, same with Dan's liveshows, so i'm good with shorter liveshows.
About Phil saying 'I' and 'me' a lot, he always did that. And maybe this time he really went to the bbq on his own, with Dan having to edit his video…(but lbr, probably not).

The video tonight, oh god, I'm sure I won't be able to watch it... Even if it's good, it will be too much. If a person I mildly care about is doing something out of their comfort zone/ interacting with people they usually don't interact with, the second hand embarrassment is just too much. I couldn't bring myself to watch the spider doughnut video either, or Dan's vid with the hunger games cast, and it always takes me a while to watch their appearances in other people's vlogs.
So yeah, I won't be able to watch it, but I'm looking forward to reading all you guys' opinions.

I think he has it in him to make it good. I agree that Emma Blackery did a really good one, it sounded like she put all the stuff people were complaining about in her GG thread in the video, but I enjoyed it, very self-aware. But then she kind of ruined it for me at the end with her "pleeeaaassseee give me a thumbs up, I've never worked harder on a video, it took me three days without sleep…" I mean…watching the first part of the video made her appear like a pretty cool person, but then she was back to her usual whiny self.

Oh, and of course the only way to eat a magnum is to bite off a bit of the chocolate and then eating the ice-cream thus revealed, while licking the edge of the chocolate coating so that a tiny bit of chocolate melts into the ice-cream, then repeat.
And white chocolate with vanilla is boring, but I love the one with strawberry ice-cream and white chocolate.

+ 1. I'm pretty sure he said something along those lines at at least one of the shows I went to? Hopefully it'll end up in the DVD. Dan also made sure to point out that Phil's cart had a giant P on it.

For anyone with any hopes for Dan rapping, all I have to say is: Not every rap has to start with repeating fucking words. I don't know why the fuck he does it, but every damn time he has to rap for 7SC or anything else, it starts with repeating the first word. :-?

Agree on the secondhand embarrassment - I can manage them in vlogs and I watched Nerdy Nummies because that felt like a rigid enough format that they wouldn't be too awkward but sometimes Dan just by himself crosses the line for me. I could hardly make it through their last radio show because Dan's attitude of just tearing apart every accomplishment they had and acting like it was embarrassing gave me the secondhand embarrassment feelings.

I think my favorite roast video so far (in terms of honesty and facing genuine critisism) is from The Gabbie Show. She even acknowledged that she plagiarized jokes, she didn't shy away from anything people slam her for. But I don't have an emotional attachment to her, so I'm not sure I could handle Dan being that honest either. But I'll be giving it a shot, I'm too much of a masochist not to want to see it firsthand.

DAN WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME?? Why you never upload and when you do, it is a shitty challenge that will make me really uncomfortable to watch (i.e. reacting to your baby videos, reacting to your 1st video)??? Honestly we all know or at least have a clear opinion of Dan's shortcomings both as a person and as a youtuber. We talk about it every day here and in other places in the fandom. We also know Dan himself is hyper-aware of his own shortcomings. I don't need for him to enumerate them in a cringe, uncomfortable, fake-funny video.

Idk, Kendrick, or my personal bae Kid Cudi for example are always praised as amazing artists (which they are). People can't stfu about Kanye being a genius visionary artist too. I don't think that people making fun of themselves because they can't rap reflects negatively on the musical genre of rap. It is like people who make fun of the fact they can't dance or can't draw. The fact they make fun of their own inability to do it doesn't negate the fact these things are legit arts. (imo)

I was at TATINOF at Dolby and with the carts Phil's was all sparkly and Dans was black etc. I remember them saying the carts represented thenselves and then Dan looked at the D and said "there's a big D on the front of mine!" insinuating he had a big D. Idk if they changed the script for the recorded version, (since the show I went to was recorded) but I'm positive that they didn't say they were full of things they like, but were decorated to represent themselves.

I thought the liveshow was ok. He was in a hurry and it definitely showed. BUT I still enjoyed it (even though that eating a Magnum is all that is on my mind now, thanks Phil )

Now, about Dan's video... I have no expectations for it. I've seen other Roast Yourself Challenges and I've seen great and terrible ones, so if that's what he's going to do it can go both ways. I'll just wait and hope I wont die from secondhand embarrassment.

Dan is so close to 6 million subscribers hell definitely get there soon
