lol i know absolutely nothing about guild wars but because apparently i'm insane, i looked up a bunch of the references he made to people and characters that went totally over my head. i've compiled what i learned below. (basically all i learned is that dan was expressing male attraction comfortably and copiously in this vid.) also, it seemed like he charmed the heck out of the people he was with. even the awkward designer dude seemed amused and charmed by dan, if uncomfortable with being on the spot in the 7sc. i'm sorry for how long this is. i spent more time on it than i'd like to admit. i'm going to put it under a spoiler cut bc it's full of many images. i apologize for my complete and total ignorance about gw2 and any glaring inaccuracies u may find below!

his 'kiss, marry kill' was between 3 popular gw2 players. he chose to kiss youtuber PeachyAurora who does some rly good cosplay, is a popular channel, and who looks like:


he chose to marry WooodenPotatoes, a male gamer who seems to never show his face online but seems beloved by fans.

his kill was initially 'LordHelseth' who he then went on to say was 'pretty handsome' (7:04) and he muttered suggestively at 7:11 that he would like to marry lord helseth and all 4 of his clones (apparently he has clones? idk.) he looks like:


the red speedo wearer, lord faren, (8:22) is a character in gw2 who looks like this:
dan said if you chose to play another more expensive 'mini(?)' over lord faren then "you have terrible taste." it seemed like he was referring to looks, lol.

Boy, that old photo of Joey, Dan and Anthony is cute, they're all so young and pretty, and for once Dan isn't the one whose fringe matches someone else.

The tweets to PJ are lovely, I watch him and still hadn't realised he hadn't hit 1m subs yet. Good to hear such a sincere compliment from Dan.

When I saw the tweet about Dan on the Guild Chat when I went to bed, it was timestamped so late in the whole thing I thought maybe it was just the clip of him being given the vinyl soundtrack, but nope, over 10 minutes and, ofc, the 7sc. He was so charming and funny, considering how awkward he professes to be he sure can get people he's just met to warm to him. I was amused Rubi told him to stop with the jokey putdowns on himself, glad it's not just me.

Bit more info/context on the Guild Wars 2 references from a casual player (I had to look up most of them to be sure). A few small game spoilers btw.

Tyria is the name both for the world the game's set in and one of its continents (Cantha is another and from what they were saying and what I can tell from the game wiki, it's not in GW2 as a place to go, it's just out there in the world).

Gliding (flying with a glider) was something new put in the game a while ago. I hadn't heard the announcement Dan mentions, but turns out it wasn't available in Central Tyria to start with, so it was exciting when they announced it was.

They mention what they meant by heavy classes - three wear heavy armour (Warrior, Guardian and Revenant), three medium aka leather (Ranger, Engineer and Thief) and three light (Elementalist, Necromancer and Mesmer, which Dan plays). You can craft all three types amongst other crafting skills and the first light outfit you make for a female is a bra top, harem pants and curly-toed slippers. To fight monsters, ofc. Quite pretty, though.

Rytlock is a Charr warrior, the Charr is the big feline race (there are 5 races you can play: human, Norn (into hunting and glory, big human-like people twice the height of humans, males are very brawny like Braham in the fanart above), Asura (little, very intelligent and snobby with it, into science to put it simply), Charr (warriors who were the enemy race in the GW1 game) and Sylvari (plant people born from a mother tree).

Logan is a human and the commander of the military/police. I haven't seen all the moments between him and Rytlock. I was under the impression he's in love with the human Queen Jennah (the ship Dan hints at not being into, a pox on you if you are )

Both of them are part of a group called Destiny's Edge that was a famous guild of adventurers. There are five of them, one from each race, and they help/work with you as you go through the game.

Southsun Cove is an island that lives up to its name, hence sunny beachwear fanart.

Lord Faren is a human who pops up as the friend who helps you out early on in your personal story if you play a human and choose the noble background for them. He's quite a funny guy. I hadn't seen his speedos, but all the characters have underwear and town wear, the game has a ton of outfits you can buy and a few hundred colours to dye them.

Braham is a Norn who I don't remember encountering in the game, but his mother's the Norn member of Destiny's Edge.

Ohh, I missed that was what he replied to. Shoulda known PJ more than deserves 1m subs especially for how long he's been going, his content is so creative and quirky. I was so happy to discover him through that daft Krave challenge, his was so much better in creative terms than deppy's, I was blown away that it was a story with live-action animation (if that's a thing, you know what I mean). It got me back into being creative after quite a while stagnating.

Also, have some more details about GW2 they mentioned, cos I like to be thorough.

raid - dungeon challenge for 10 players, hard and take a lot of organisation and training to win, almost like a military operation.

Wizard's Tower - floating structure relocated by its wizard owner from its original location (I don't know if it was always floating or if it's actually a raid dungeon, the wiki page would say if it is, I thought, so ).

balance - keeping the gameplay, professions’ skills and weapons, etc from being over- or underpowered, too hard or too easy.

main - the character or profession you play most often (others being alts).

mini - mini versions of game characters you can have as mascots running around with you.

elite specialization - once you’ve reached the highest level, this expands on your profession with more skills and a new weapon.

legendary - one of the highest-quality weapons or armour (or backpack ) you can craft/have made for you once you've reached the highest level.

world v world - capture-the-castle battles for potentially hundreds of players from three different servers.

patch note - notes about what’s been patched/updated/fixed.

Dulfy - runs a very comprehensive fansite dulfy.net

Ogden’s hammer guy - I don't know who the guy was, but Ogden is a dwarf who helps the scholars and from googling all this I've discovered "By Ogden's Hammer!" is a phrase some characters use especially reacting to how much things cost from in-game merchants.

Scarlet - Sylvari villain.

The Mists - “the oldest thing in existence, the proto-reality that exists between the worlds, constituting the fabric of time and space that connects the multiverse together".

Kasmeer whose mini is more expensive - a Human Mesmer, I remember my human character working with her in part of a quest.

Living World - large updates of game content to bring the game to life as a changing world, some of the events affect the world permanently.

I didn't catch who or what Dara is, if that's how you spell it.

When they referred to "east... expansion" that's about Cantha not being in the next expansion as it was based on Asia in GW1.
