Dan & Phil Part 23: Let's just retract the fist.

My only meaningful contribution is that the very first thing I noticed when I saw the full body Stand Up to Cancer picture is Phil has a large, suspicious white stain right on and below his crotch....

(No I don't think it's actually jizz but yikes that's the kind of thing someone should rly notice/point out before doing a high quality photoshoot)

Some thoughts on the new vid:
-How nice to see Phil being the better gamer for once
-Really love how at 6:19 with the "what is a whelk" moment they lean into eachother and it feels like a really natural, casual, private interaction that we happened to be privy to
-Very attracted to dan leaning back at 8:09
-Appreciate their leaving in the Ribena quest--they're humans! Thanks for feeling comfortable showing us you aren't robots, guys!
-Another furry reference from Dan... Someone a while ago mentioned that it's odd how Dan keeps making jokes and comments at the expense of furries when that's not something he does with any other fringe group or type of person. And I agree, I don't think it's in Dan's nature to take cheap shots at any group of people, including furries. Unless, that is, he identifies with that group. So while I definitely don't think he's an all out closeted mascot furry or anything like that, I do feel like there's a little bit of truth to the secretly a furry joke, and that he may feel an attachment to the furry community in some small way... (Honestly, his infatuation with the giant animal creature from gw2 pushed me over the edge.)

I mean it's not meant to be that funny, but it got me anyway. I kind of agree about the furry thing. It's strange that he always brings it up. Either he does relate in some way. Or he (i cringe to think this) thinks that furries aren’t a serious subculture. And therefore it would be ok to make fun of said group. Which nowadays doesnt seem very likely. He tries to be pretty pc about things, so why the furry jokes all the time?

I absolutely love this photo, I'm really glad they're doing the stand up to cancer thing. Good on them getting behind such an important cause. I work with so many cancer patients that I feel really proud that the yt community is getting behind the campaign as it will raise a lot of awareness and money. Can't wait to see what they've got planned, hope they go to the live event in September, I'd definitely try to get tickets for it if they do it. They look hella cute in the promo photos for it too.

I've also just watched the impossible quiz video (three times ahem) and smiled throughout. I enjoyed that Phil was in charge for a lot of the video, it was filled with some adorable moments and well, Phil in shorts, sign me up for that thanks. I liked how Dan waited for Phil to come back from getting them a drink to ask his opinion on the mouse question and Phil resting his head on dans shoulder actually gave me a teeny tiny moment of phan appreciation (yes, really). I'll even go ahead and say I didn't mind Dan screeching PHILLLLL LESTERRRRR because
They've provided us with good content whilst they've been on tour, I wonder if they know people were miserable af whilst they were in America and stepped up this time. Now the tour is over it hopefully means a live show on Tuesday. Good times. Europe now please boys

I think they had white make up on this photoshoot. On the visible parts of their body. And Phil just somehow got some on his jeans.
Also I'm confused by Dan's furriness. Maybe he really is a bit of a furry (maybe not full on fursuit, but more of animal onesies/ears/tails/collars, you know) and with the notion of how infamous furries are, his defence mechanism is to make fun of it/himself before someone will. And he can always get away with it because it's just for the lelz!!!!! it's all a joke!!

IMHO, they probably dropped it more as a deflection from their travel than stepping up for us because of the Aus tour, but either way, I’m grateful

Yeah, furry again! I think Dan is a very “aware” person, and that he’s PC, not just for the sake of being PC, but because he genuinely understands and appreciates diversity, and "gets" what it means to be marginalized. So I think it’s meant in good humor, that he’s not being derogatory at all, and that the "reality" (ha ha LOL what's reality?) is probably complex.

To me, his comments sound like he's "fondly defending" the furry culture and that he feels connected to it, if that makes any sense?? I think there is an affinity there of some kind.
- The animal theme has been a part of the brand from the beginning, separately and together: Dan’s naked photobooth with all the stuffed animals, cat whiskers, the furry hat Dan wore that Phil seemed quite fond of, the stuffed animal Dan said he’d slept with since birth (sorry I lack felucca and oqua’s archiving skills and can’t cite videos), but 'lions, llamas, and bears, oh my' --- the list is pretty endless!

-It's a huge inside joke between the two of them that they troll us with.

-And it makes for a convenient deflection from the nature of 's relationship with each other.

The multiple, very public, references certainly open it up for discussion. To what extent he/they identify, we’ll probably never know. (and sure, it's Dan’s/their own business anyway)

i imagine they might have given him a line or two but didn't make it into the final cut...
i adore phil but he is very awkward for this type of things, even in the photos he looks nervous and awkward with his foot to the side (tho it's extremely pleasing to see his white skin and all the black clothes)

I recall a couple vids where he was trying to read a script and failed several times (i think super amazing project, big weekend and project for awesome) so that could have happened on this one too.

I'm sure he'll get more screen time in future vids, it's 1000 hours after all. That second vid isn't it from last year tho?

Uh yeah that was a totally calm inquiry though and worth some discussion as its not an isolated occurrence. I was rewatching a joint liveshow the other day from 2012 or 13 where they were talking about being on the news (or something) briefly and Phil was annoyed that all the stuff he said got cut. Dan said he got one line in, I think. Maybe that's not the case here, but it's not very productive to just eye roll away or diminish something to 'defence-squad-ing' js. Especially since there's really not much else happening right now anyway

SUFC video: I don't like the photos , sue me. I think that Phil was the one that didn't wanna talk or was ok with it, we know that the yt community respects him and that he is a quite stubborn and intelligent adult, we know that it's their usual modus operandi. Dan and Phil have different areas in which they are comfortable ex. phil was the one that sent the emails to the venues, "oil me"

1. Keep your social lives separate – we go to different things and we think that’s very important . . . just because your in love and in a couple doesn’t mean you have to combine your life with each other

3. Never combine your working lives

6. Jealousy – is the most destructive thing in a relationship
