Am I the only one who finds it upsetting that fans approach them on airports/in airplanes (same would go for supermarkets, restaurants, etc.)? Don't get me wrong, I understand that you would be excited to see them, but it must be annoying to be asked for pictures wherever you go. Even on a flight they can't be themselves because a viewer could sit near them. And they are too nice to say no to pictures. We have to keep in mind that they are normal humans that have things to do and need privacy. So, I don't know, I think it's kinda disrespectful. I would always ask myself if I would want to be approached in a certain situation and if I only had the slightest doubt that I'd feel uncomfortable, I wouldn't approach the celebrity/YouTuber/whatever. (I probably wouldn't anyway because I'm too shy but that's not the point.)

The thing that bothers me most is when it becomes almost a fandom activity. It's one of those times when you realize how easy it is for fans en masse to forget Dan and Phil are actually people and not just some selfie goal to be achieved just so all their friends online will see.nephilimcat wrote:Am I the only one who finds it upsetting that fans approach them on airports/in airplanes (same would go for supermarkets, restaurants, etc.)? Airports do definitely fall under 'would never approach' for me. Okay, lbr, I'd never approach them no matter the situation, but just assuming there was a hypothetical in which I would for comparison's sake. They're either probably stressing and needing to make a flight on time, or they've just gotten off a flight and no one looks their best like that. Who would want a picture of them online for all of time immediately post-flight?

have kinda mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I am definitely against stalking people irl (internet and publicly available information, emphasis on publicly, is another thing) and personally, I would never approach them if I saw then, I'm getting second-hand embarrassment from every selfie with them I see. On the other hand, as they are very private people, wouldn't they like to be aware there's a fan nearby other than discover it later when said fan publish something about seeing them when they had no idea they were being observed with an utmost attention?
Dan wants to be understood. Phil just wants to make the viewer smile and sell some backpacks (c) fancybum

To me this is a complicated situation, it has a lot to do with the context. (not even gonna go into bumping accidentally into them x stalking because the answer to this is obvious)alittledizzy wrote:The thing that bothers me most is when it becomes almost a fandom activity. I wouldn't approach them if they looked like they were in a hurry, in the middle of a conversation or with people who aren't youtubers, I probably wouldn't want to interrupt/inconvenience them in any way.
I also wouldn't feel alright spotting them in the wild and just looking/pretending I don't know them, I would feel too creepy, I'd probably just wave at them from afar just to let them know there's someone who recognized them/likes them in the vicinity and go do something else.
Something that also grinds my gears (and some youtubers spoke about it before - alfie and superwoman come to mind) is when people come up to you don't say hi or anything and just ask for a selfie (or not even ask, just shoves the camera in their face) and walks away, that's... just no.
i have lots of opinions but I should be studying so I'm just gonna leave this at that

It depends on the situation: did you stalk them? did you wait outside to met them? do they seem in a hurry or super busy or give a vibe of not wanting to be approched? No, in this case no.nephilimcat wrote:[offtopic][/offtopic]

If you met them by chance, ex. at the supermarket, and are polite then it's okay. They have a right to privacy but they are famous for being youtubers and generally public figures, so imo this is the other side of their job, it's not always good but till everyone behaves it's okay.
On the photos: I'm not usually someone that approches someone to have a photo, the concept doesn't appeal to me, still I would have a selfie and walk away (like not trying to impose my presence on them) That photo would never be uploaded somewhere but remain a personal memory.
Youtubers react: did anything interesting occur in them? I lost hope with the finebros videos.

I'm pretty simple. I'm awkward and shy, like not in the cute quirky way but in the "people actively think I'm a bitch because of it" way.
I would find it exhausting and although it's not unpleasant to bump into someone who appreciates your content it's pretty tiring to think about you having to be the person they imagine you to be. Basically when they meet you they see YOUTUBE PERSONA in a real life setting and you may be tired, hungry, irritated, in a bad mood, in a rush, not feeling it, you can be a myriad of things that strangers don't care about. I would have to be constantly in this mode where I feel I have to reach this standard they've got in their head and if I don't then they'll be disappointed, and you know what happens then, it goes on the internet for the rest of the world to judge.
I have huge self esteem issues. I am very controlling with my selfies or what pics of me are shown. The idea that maybe one day I look or feel like shit and this fan comes up to me all anime-eyed wanting a selfie and I feel like a potato is genuinely stressful. I would worry about how I looked all day, whether they'd post it, and how others would feel. In all likelihood they'd think I was the bees knees and not care, but I would care and that's stressful for me.
I'd need to be entertaining at that moment. I'd need to be witty or kind or complimenting and friendly. That's what they expect when they meet you. Maybe I don't have anything quirky to say. Maybe I have a headache or a stomach ache. Maybe I'm trying to hold in a huge fart and not lose it due to the anxiety of the meeting. Maybe I don't see anything to compliment or I become closed up and awkward.
TL;DR I wouldn't approach them if I saw them because I think how I would feel in their shoes and keep to myself. :geek:

Yeah, it's true that you have to deal with it when you're famous. I'm just not sure if it should be that way. Sometimes I think we should never take photos if we meet a celebrity and just do that at Meet & Greets when they're prepared. However, they do put themselves out there and it was their decision. And Dan and Phil don't seem to mind that some awkward photos of them exist
corn flakes wrote: Youtubers react: did anything interesting occur in them? I lost hope with the finebros videos.
Phil told Dan that he has issues because of his reaction to one of the clips but that's about it. I never watch the finebros either but I can't help it and watch the videos with Dan and Phil in it

I haven't watched the video yet, I don't know why, but sometimes I have phases for a few days where I cringe at one of them/both of them and I can't even look at them. Right now, it's Phil. Was this video good enough to break this? My first thought when he posted this was that it wasn't original.anathema wrote: "'Dan's crotch'- that's enough quizzing for today!"

1) I'm now convinced that Phil has the taste buds of a 4 year old.
2) I'm now entertaining the thought of Phil not wearing pants while filming, thanks Phil.
loved the video tho.

But who the fuck am I kidding? I'm mostly just the rotting banana peel at the bottom of the phan trash can who genuinely gets excited over the thought of them snuggling in bed. Idgaf let a bitch live

Great video. Was a bit iffy when I saw the tweet but it was really good.
He wouldn't leave home without Dan

That was my exact reaction as well, he didn't seem afraid to sound phan as he put right out in the open that he wouldn't leave the house without Dan and that PINOFs are his favorite. that includes PINOF1!! This whole video made me feel warm and fuzzy and I loved the guessing his guilty pleasures part ~ and how he looked during that part tooanathema wrote:

Phil looks like he went to sleep at 6 AM and is dying inside, Dan glows like he spent the night having orgasms - Ticia

I love that the baking videos are his favourite, they're my favourite videos too. And it's great that his favourite videos are the ones he does with Dan

Well that was a nice video!
I'll watch it again i think! I'm curious what you'll think of it because i thought it was actually daring : taking quizzes about himself might show the gap between phil & AmazingPhil, don't you think?
It wasn't blatant though but it felt more like Phil to me at first watch, not that persona heavy (sorry for the p word

This was such a fun little video with great little quote snippets.
Poor houseplant! He was saying "brown tips" before and I envisioned a pretty-much-still-existing plant with brown tips not one solitary stem with a sad little leaf on the end. Thanks a lot Martyn!
Is this subconscious Phil? A+ quiffage
A fun DAPG, dinof, and AP videos all in a row. I feel spoiled.

The video was cute, wasn't particularly groundbreaking but I suppose Phil is looking for a little filler after the Australia tour. I think the video would have been funnier if he did Dan quizzes instead of himself but I agree that it was better to see the division between Phil Lester and Amazingphil. Some questions were set up to try and suit the whimsical, fun, childish nature of AmazingPhil and then Phil going like NOPE !
Anyway's, I don't particularly like these quizzes, they're just click bait for the phandom to send traffic to the website (which will probably happen and he phandom will spam the comment section, let's be honest) But I liked how Phil executed them, he's a quick wit and spontaneity to his videos that some vloggers lack (but maybe I'm just a crazy phangirl

I really wasn't expecting a video today but I'm glad we got one!
I was smiling the whole time, I was a bit skeptic by the title but I was proven so wrong
Very entertaining, I laughed out loud a couple times

Agreed with all of this. He definitely felt more Phil Lester than AmazingPhil in this vid, which I appreciate.LurkingTrash wrote:Oh my God

Didn't expect to be getting a vid so that was a nice surprise.
I too like taking those online quizzes at times, so I can relate to Phil on that.
Some nice Phan moments.
Overall a very enjoyable, sweet vid, that I will rewatch a few times.

Well, that video was pure delight. And apparently I had a lot of thoughts on it. So, timestamps:
That was an adorable video, definitely brightened my mood. I've been having a crying fit all day and my face lit up when I got the notification. His uploading schedule over the past two years always seems to sync in with the times I feel the worst. I'm way happier now.

I don't know if I am just such a Phil trash or that was really an entertaining video.
It's cute. And Phil was really pretty. Thank you, Phil. I needed that feel good video. If only that Phil with a quiff wore glasses...
Who has the heart to tell Phil that 100-75 is not 15?
House plant killer! He should see Nat's (community channel) video and Jena Marble's video. Seriously, give house plants a break.

He did go back and annotate his fail in the upper left hand corner. I didn't catch that until re-watch, though.Diyes_Celine wrote:Who has the heart to tell Phil that 100-75 is not 15?
And, yes, he looked beautiful. They've both been quite "glowy" lately.
Thanks for the timestamps, alittledizzy. You're speedy!
