I was looking quite a bit into view counts on Danisnotonfire and Amazing Phil videos for this insufferably long post i made here

http://indepthbants.com/topic430-500.html#p32027

and I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on how some videos sky-rocket and some are barely touched. I personally found their content to be a very slippery slope where one video led to the next and I am steadily working though watching them all.

Are there any videos you watch over and over? I have a few

-The cooking videos never fail to make me happy - I watch them after something sad or scary. Ive seen them about 6 times maybe...
-I have been a sims nerd for 16 years now, and found them though their sims lets play. I have watched the series in its entirety three times. Who needs to eat, sleep, or do work?
-I might watch Dan's diss track once a day...Some days more than once, some days i cant get to a computer, but I'm pretty sure it averages to about once a day since it came out. its just so darn catchy.
-Some of the cutesier stuff like the cat face painting or early pinofs I have seen a few times trying to over analyze it, but then it makes me uncomfortable because I'm 28 and they are much younger in those vids lol.

Are there any videos you know have low view counts that you wished everyone would watch? I love all of Amazing Phil's weird early story driven stuff. I feel like if he had proper time and money and materials he could make some really great thriller/horror movies :)

That's all my questions! Thanks!

I love this post idea

I'd say the reason for the difference in viewcount could be that some viewers specifically look for "Phan" videos, as these seem to have the higher viewcounts. Tags also seem to have higher viewcounts. I guess some people specifically look these types of videos up.

I agree with all of your re-watchable videos. Especially Dil- these are never not funny.

Other videos that I can always re-watch are:

-DITL- Absolutely love it when vlog. Obviously I love the phan-ness thats in all of them, but the way they vlog is also so random and hilarious

-Any video about Phils childhood- He had a genuinly weird chilhood. I recently re-watched the chat log videos and the childhood horror movie videos, and had forgotton how funny they are to me

-Any video like the punk edits irl and makeup challenges

-Collabs with other youtubers. One of my favourites is actually Phils with Jim Chapman. I don't normally watch Jim, but I thought he brought out a side of Phil we don't see very often, which is like a more age appropriate silliness if that makes sense. There was a lot of innuendo

HAve you heard the audio only of the Jim Chapman video, Dan edited out anything that wasn't innuendo and it's hilarious. (for anyone that hasnt heard it) http://danisnotonfire.tumblr.com/post/9 ... es-in-this

I was just talking to jess about this, that I watch the DITL Japan/Japan Haul videos at least once every couple of weeks if I'm feeling bummed out or need a pick-me-up. They're so fucking jovial and just over the top gooey post-vacay glowing and happy that I find myself feeling the same after I watch those two back to back (but mostly the haul video tbh).

I agree with you about the cooking videos, I watch those over and over as well, especially the Easter one and the latest two Halloween ones which are overflowing with so much domesticity that it makes me sick in the best possible way. The 2015 Halloween baking video has a special place in my heart though as it was the first Deppy vid I ever saw. & for DAPG my absolute favorite one is playing Tekken with their feet, I've watched that so many times I can quote it, it's so hilarious. (Though the Impossible Quiz part 2 is going to edge real close to that lbr)

As far as their solo vids I love all of their story videos when they're not trying too hard, just telling a story with some skits/photos/videos thrown in. I think they're best when they're being natural and you feel like it's just someone telling you about an embarrassing moment or crazy thing that happened to them.

Haha I never listened to this. I saw the video and it didn't really occur to me how sexual it sounded. I think it is hilarious that Dan noticed it though...then made the edit of it. I know he said when he watched it he picked up on it, but i wonder if he heard it through the wall and was like "what the hell is happening in there?!"

That is a piece of art, thank you for the link and to that cheeky Daniel for the edit ;) Jim's so sweet, him with Phil is cutepocalypse like how PJ with Phil is a quirkfest or Dan with Tyler, I can't narrow that combination down to one word (giggles, shade, screaming...)

Yay fellow Simmer! There must be a few of us, but I also played from the first one, not often now especially compared to the time I spent on Sims 2, though. That said I haven't rewatched many of the Sims videos.

Their 2015 Halloween baking vid is one of my absolute favourites too, I watched that every day for a week and the only other I've done that with is Dan's Diss Track. They're both such sparky clever videos, they were both on fire in the baking vid and Phil at his most ethereal with the cheekbones too.

Phil's videos I've gone back to a lot are Lost at the Mall and I'm Sorry for the storytelling and dressing up as the other characters, he even vaguely reminds me of a uni friend when he's dressed as the tube woman. The mall one where he lampshades his manchildness and the shot of him lying on the floor screaming "mummy!" like a lost toddler are so funny. Also Things I Regret Buying is all-round hilarious.

Baking and Pinof are always cosy and fun. Pinof 6 was one of the first I saw when I became a big fan of them both last May. Phil's highpitched "so scaly!" bit in the lizards song grated so much it takes my memory right back. His Dan-impression too was what made me realise how sharp he is under the sweetie-pie act with "It burns my mind!"

For them together, Going Deep about Aliens and the beginning of Can Your Pet both partly for more ethereal-cheekbones Phil. He's so weird at the start of Can Your Pet as if keeping in the secret of the game is frying his brain and they're both adorable with him flicking the horns on Dan's hoodie as Dan so casually leans into him  Going Deep's just all over the place with them supposedly trying to be serious, Dan facepalming, and Phil's ideas and voice like when he says "mind wipe!" He makes suddenly putting on such a different voice look so easy.

For Dan's videos, Dan the Dinosaur mainly because it's the last time since he grew fully that he wore those tight knee-length trousers and he's stunning in them. Also How NOT to Stay Cool, partly because he shows some shoulder and leg, ngl, but it is also just so funny with facial expressions, asides and looks to camera. There are plenty more examples of those, it was that and his offbeat sketches I remember enjoying in his videos in 2012/3 when I discovered the Brit crew as a whole before I fell into the trashcan on rediscovering them both.

Thanks, because of you I had to re-watch all of the videos you mentioned. Such a hardship ;)

interesting thread!!!

For Phil I rewatch DITL and cooking videos. Sometimes I go on a small melancholic trip and watch oldschool iconic Phil videos like the basket, Philippa, the one he saves the world from that sock thing (?), the lobster of responsibility... but I never rewatch his newish content.

For Dan the videos I rewatch the most are the danecdotes, reasons why Dan's a fail, what not to do at and the midlife crisis trilogy. Storytelling/sketchy Dan will always be my favourite.
From his less watched content my favourite is the pombear massacre. I honestly love it!
I tend to not rewatch his collabs that much except the Tyler Oakley ones. But I sometimes find myself rewatching random videos suggested by youtube and I will rewatch almost anything except the videos I really didn't like (like the how to survive exams for example)

Gaming channel, I have rewatched donkey kong SO MANY TIMES and also bishi bashi. I don't really rewatch sims or undertale because it is too long and don't rewatch sonic.exe, akinator, chimbot, agario or spons... stuff like that that weren't really interesting the 1st time around. All others I have rewatched probably several times.

SAP : probably half the views on all videos are me

I love to rewatch:

AP: days in the life, pinofs, baking vids, tumblr tags, other videos with dan , random vloggy ones that appear in the suggestions bar

DINOF: photobooth challenge (it's silly but so funny), danecdotes, making of tabinof, reasons why dan's a fail, quarter-life crisis trilogy, going deep with d&p, other videos with phil

DAPG: donkey kong, bishi bashi, shelter, pt, handicapped challenges, just dance, summer sports simulator, extreme makeover (dil's home edition)

Other channels: YouTuber Whispers 4 (Joe Sugg), NWW with Dan and Phil (Louise). I would watch the catrific videos more often but I just can't get into them unless they're not on her channel. I really love the SAP as well (I discovered it very quickly after finding D&P and loved the format so much).

But, to stay on topic with the sentiment in the first post, I have always thought that the making of tabinof video on dan's channel never quite got the recognition it deserved. It should be right there among the days in the life as the ultimate #phantrash fodder. I also love shelter, but can understand why phil (sadly) never did shelter 2. Dan's anime video should have got more views imo as well, but I guess people were put off by the fact that it's an ad.

Interesting about the tabinof video, I didn't realize it had low views. Strange because like you said its just them being adorable for 20 minutes. But i guess you wouldnt know that if you never click on it. makes me wonder about all the videos on other channels i never click.

Several people are mentioning SAP. I'll be honest I haven't watched any of it. Younger DnP don't interest me as much, those older videos make me feel like I'm looking through the window at two young, horny, disorganized, giggly teenagers. I could barely stand teenagers when I was one, and I get even more irritated with them now that I'm approaching 30. Are there any specific episodes that are worth watching?

I was just nearly crying laughing at this old DnPGames video so I though it was obligatory that I post it here. Interesting because it doesn't feel like they're banting as much as they do nowadays, and I still really enjoy it.

I was just re-watching this, which I do quite often, and thought i would add it to the list. Its so cute how the two "losers" know all the words by heart, including instrumentals, and how the two preppy kids seem to only be vaguely familiar with the song. Probably the first and last time they ever forced DnP to socialize with the other DJ's thier age because its so awkward.

I can see DnP acting like this around the house or on skype with music playing and it makes me happy.

  • Sleepless Nights with Phil. I always watch them when I'm bored. They're the absolute purest omg.
  • Baking videos, obviously. They're so cute and domestic.
  • DITLs; again, pretty freakin married.
  • In particular, their Japan and Jamaica vlogs. They're just so... Pure, I guess.
  • Phil's Shelter series. It was this which got me into Shelter in the first place and he's so cute in these videos.
I used to marathon the Sims and the PINOFs a lot, but less so nowadays. I still love the PINOFs and the Sims is a decent series, but I guess that I've kind of watched them too many times for them to still hold the same entertainment value... And marathoning the Sims, I find, gets kind of frustrating after you're on your fifth or so marathon. I haven't gotten on to the next episode in my mass rewatch for almost a month now.
