I wonder why it seems literally everyone is "in" on this mutual D&P joke about them. Either they "know something we don't" but then that would be super rude to keep making jokes about it???? like even if they aren't your closest friends, it's just not professional but it seems everyone is doing it. Even if they are your close friends you wouldn't joke about them to other audiences and people like that.

Or they are lowkey mocking the D&P dynamic and find it overly attached friend-like, and they are condescending to them and how close they are. Maybe it's not the "bro" thing to do for a lot of people.

I just don't get why it's not even just a concern between D&P and their closest friends but anyone they come into contact with (and people they haven't) jump on this bandwagon of references and innuendo. If they were really trying to hide something then the whole world is conspiring against them for that. :? I'd have cracked years ago if I was them, and I was a couple. Not even just being discreet as soon as you step foot out the door, no matter where you are, but also worried about rando people not caring about how you feel or not.

Jealous of their relationship and closeness maybe? Feeling entitled to know the "truth" and perhaps being salty that aren't letting them in? Complete lack of empathy for as people and bringing them up for attention? Sadly, there are probably a lot of reasons.

Okay so I'm in school for advertising and I haven't graduated yet or worked in the field that much so maybe this is wrong but I feel like this ad is poorly designed. My main problem with it is that the focal point, which is the middle of the billboard, is completely blank. I think it would've made a lot more sense to put the logo and text in the middle and dan and phil on either side. Hey YTR, you hiring?

Same. Someone wrote a while ago, about how its been 7 years and the same position would be boring. Position could change but who tops may not (hetero couples do it forever rememeber. ;) ). It really has to do with the people. Every gay couple I am friends with is different. Some don't do anal at all, some have a top and a bottom, because one doesn't like it and the other does, some switch it up all the time depending on mood and some switch it on special occasions. It really just depends, I do know it really has nothing to do with personality or "masculine" traits, just personal preferences.
Lurktacularr wrote:Seconded - I have some truly horrific conversations with my gay friends (as in, so personal it would truly scar any eavesdroppers) and I only know one gay couple who generally have no preference and switch it up properly regularly (depending on who's got more energy at the time apparently, lol). Then I know another dude who's just not into anal at all. The rest have a preference and as you say generally stick to it, but do switch on the odd occasion. Like everything, its a spectrum I suppose.

I think the 'Dan's a bottom' thing started because of how they were when they met - I got one of my best friends (gay - prefers topping) to watch some vids with me and the first thing he said was 'that is a TWINK!'. Now I don't really know about all that shit, I'm not a gay dude and to me it reads a bit stereotypical, but you can see that there's a perception there at the least.

Following from that I imagine Dan's easier to write as a bottom, for various reasons. Fics are often written with a focus on the reactions of the bottom and we know who's the more reactive of the two to base your writing on. I'm no fic writer but I can imagine its harder to put a voice to Phil in those situations

Don't know why I'm even chiming in when I'm currently a demon anti who thinks they've maybe never had sex anyway. Just my two cents on where the fan perception comes from I guess.

You see what you get for no liveshow Deppy? We'd all be getting hyped if we were getting one and instead we're talking about your sex life. Serves you right joking. mostly.
Lurkers your whole post made me  the bolded parts are a "yup " from me. Some of the stories I have been told.... And the Dan as a twink thing, I could see why that stuck with people. It's not like he is now... or would he still considered a twink? (I don''t know the qualifications for the job) The fic talk, I guess it is that way for most writers? Never thought about it like that.(although i almost always have them switch...since I don't know who would be top or bottom. I like to even the playing field... ;) )
This is such a horrible offensive stereotype ladden talk, sign me tf up.

Dan is a bit too old and too large to qualify as traditional twink, I believe. Not sure where he falls on that scale these days, but he is definetely the queen diva type lol (don't take this seriously pls). Anyway, all my gay friends who had seen his older videos know him as "that thirsty bottom twink"and it's fascinating to me, how Dan manages to cast such an impression within such a short period of time when he isn't even doing anything outwardly stereotypical in these videos (excluding occasinal visual gags with bananas)

Disclaimer: I love top-bottom talks, I just don't think we have anywhere near the information to discuss it seriously in relation to deppy, and if we did, then THAT would be intrusive. But it's something that's heavily stigmatised in the community and I wish it wasnt and we could all participate in normalising it.

Maybe it was the way he stared at Phil with such adoration/lust.

Slightly OT: I was a bit surprised to see Phil backstage in the doc with the mirror to check his fringe but didn't see any of that from Dan (or don't remember any). I guess fringe = brand isn't going anywhere any time soon.

it kinda implies that the viewing is already over... are we gonna get scheduled tweets instead of live tweets then?

I'm conducting a prayer circle today, let's all take a moment to get on our knees, hold hands, and pray that dan or phil won't make busgate worse for us, amen.

Do you guys think it was awkward for them to show the documentary to Phil's family, even though they didn't share the bed in the documentary the scene with dan playing with phils hair while he was asleep is honestly more intimate than the idea of sharing a bed, i don't know I would feel kinda awkward watching myself play with my SO's hair while he was asleep in front of their family, idk

Well Dan's hair became a total lost cause because it just went full hobbit lol

Tell me about it, seeing them obsess over their fringe for years has sort of had a Pavlovian effect on me and whenever I see them fiddle with their hair I feel self conscious about mine

... I don't even have a fringe :?

Does anyone know where that is?

I wonder if they had a "cast party"/reunion of sorts, or just family (Dan's too??) and their flat was too small to hold everyone?

Will Deppy be late to their own twitter party? Find out in a few minutes.

Edit: NVM. They weren't late this time.

Umm, doesn't look like a movie-viewing venue.

Did the family go on a street art tour of London while they were here? (my family did that here where we live yesterday)

Ugh. I want to be an annoying fan who will bombard them with non-tatinof stuff. I am really salty because I love Phil's liveshow. :sideeye: I guess I'll be tweeting them liveshow questions instead. Or, we can bombard them with "post a selfie" tweet. You took my ls so I want fan service!!!

My theory is they didn't have a liveshow and chose a twitter party because their post TATINOF celebrations caused some rather dark marks on one/both of their necks :gg:

I gave up with in the first few minutes trying to keep up, and then my internet (that is always reliable) decided to cut out for no reason. Ah well. I'm still watching though. I can't turn it off.
