Well, this might explain why he owns a Hufflepuff sock, but I like to think Dan gave them to Phil and it isn't his anymore. Phil is a true Hufflepuff after all. Or they share. As they share their Onesies. And their underwear. And clothes in general. Dan doesn't strike me as the person that puts his sock on his desk since he complains about Phil doing that all the time.

Now, as I understand it, having perfect pitch means the ability to identify or recreate a note without a reference tone. I used the definition from Wiki, but only because I didn't really know how to say it in English. If a person didn't have any music training, or only had a bit of it, they won't necessarily be able to identify a note by naming it (C, or D, or do, or re, if you use a romance language system). Just wanted to thank everyone who made the posts about their singing or music in general. I know nothing about it and was really interested in reading about it educating myself more. It is like a breath of fresh air to this forum, so thank you. It's not the first time Dan mentioned he has perfect pitch and everytime he does I remember the time in one of his liveshows, where he couldn't figure out the first notes in Welcome to the Black Parade and just gave up after a couple of tries

btw does anyone know or has a decent theory on why he stopped playing the piano on his liveshows? Im not complaining, I dont like watching people do things they dont feel absolutely sure on doing just cos of social pressure (aka: him playing the piano, painting his nails, doing collabs, etc), but the piano thing he used to do it often back in the day when people requested it, and now theres has been no piano playing at all; I wonder if someone said something to him and it hurt his self-steam or maybe its the opposite, like he has now enough confidence to deny people what they want to see him do. Just coming in again to say that I don't think Dan has perfect pitch.
I think he means that he has good intonation (or relative pitch), which is similar but not the same. If I were to sing a random note, someone with perfect pitch would immediately know what note it was without having to look it up. A person is born with it. Someone with good intonation would be able to make a very good guess, but wouldn't intrinsically know. It's a skill that some naturally have more than others, but can be developed in everyone; although I think Dan has an unusual and impressive aptitude for it.
The main example I can think of is a Sims video where Dil is playing the violin and Dan says "nice C major scale" but it was a D major scale. A person with perfect would know that it was a D major scale, they wouldn't even have to think about it. The information would be in their brain in the same way that if I were to ask you what number comes after 2, you would know without thinking that the answer is 3.
Also I totally used to do the thing he did of writing notes above the music! It's bad practice but it works. I find that point interesting; this is anecdotal but all the people I know who have perfect pitch found reading sheet music very easy, because they could just be like 'this blob is this sound' in their heads.
I could be wrong and he might well have perfect pitch, but I think he's confused the terms. Also he's right, you should all go and listen to Chopin's Ballad No.1 in G minor because it's pretty.

sometimes I wonder if Phil isn't that unusual in being mentioned so often by Dan; but Dan's life circumstances have meant he is an exception. as in, if Dan maybe had a different relationship with his family, and/or worked a regular job and was just chatting around the watercooler in an office instead of compromising privacy to thousands of strangers, whether he would mention at every opportunity the people special to him in that annoying they-can-do-no-wrong-way. he seems like that kind of guy. maybe if his world is a little smaller than an average person's Phil is where all that energy goes.

I'm sorry this is so irrelevant to anything what everyone is talking about but i'm just so emotional right now after seeing the liveshow so i just have to say this. I'm very proud of deppy, even though maybe not everything they do is perfect, at least they tried their best to be true to themselves and never compromise for anything less than what they deem is perfect. I know they sometimes get lazy and stuff but when they really try and really serious, they can achieve so much more than i ever imagine them to be. And that kind of drive, that kind of dedication is gonna take them very very far.

it was just...nice. i can't think of a better word. it was sincere, and for a good cause, and they weren't lighting and editing themselves which always helps (also lol), and they were being jovial and i'm glad they fought for the words to remain theirs because they're not shakespearean but they capture a feeling a lot of us folks who spend a lot of time online strive for. that's it's worth it, that it's normal, that it's home.

Just popped on to say maybe Phil's sock thing 'is' Phil's. Not that a random sock couldn't have migrated into Dan's room by accident somehow and wasn't tossed there in a moment of passion. However hasn't Dan said on more than one occasion that he was 'sorted' into Gryffindor and Slytherin and and also given the choice to chose between the two, therefor it would make the socks he left at PJ's maybe more logically his specific selection, and not a random 'I have all the house socks' thing. Dan's liveshow had unexpected hilarious highlights, almost all of which were mentioned. Dan was a mess as usual, but a proud/content mess.
Watch him tell us to ask TATINOF-related questions and never get around to answering them (same as with TABINOF). If there are interesting things that didn't make it into the doc and he specifically wants to talk about, I think he should start himself, cause on younow and twitter good questions are hard to track.
Excited for more bhs show-related content on Phil's channel.
