Wow, he is really that bad at procrastinating. Can't even get back his socks from a friend that doesn't live that far away One might think that he would care about Harry Potter themed socks as a HP fan, but apparently not.majitzu wrote:I think Dan has a sock of each Hogwarts house, Pj has his Gryffindor and Slytherin ones
This!Philena wrote:Fellow music nerd here. The term he keeps searching for is "playing by ear," not perfect pitch. Those with perfect pitch can sing or name the note on cue (and certainly would not have said B# ).
I'm glad that you agree, I've been worried that it's all wrong and someone's gonna come along all 'you don't know what you're talking about'Philena wrote:As far as singing, I agree with most of your analysis, dezzawintz, but I tend to think he put Phil on the higher harmony at the end because he has a greater range in his chest voice (which is all they used on tiih) than Dan.
This is my favorite thing now, thank youeevee wrote:

btw does anyone know or has a decent theory on why he stopped playing the piano on his liveshows? Im not complaining, I dont like watching people do things they dont feel absolutely sure on doing just cos of social pressure (aka: him playing the piano, painting his nails, doing collabs, etc), but the piano thing he used to do it often back in the day when people requested it, and now theres has been no piano playing at all; I wonder if someone said something to him and it hurt his self-steam or maybe its the opposite, like he has now enough confidence to deny people what they want to see him do. (Aka: the "fuck off" comment). anyone have thoughts on this?tymyky wrote:Just wanted to thank everyone who made the posts about their singing or music in general. I know nothing about it and was really interested in reading about it educating myself more. It is like a breath of fresh air to this forum, so thank you. It's not the first time Dan mentioned he has perfect pitch and everytime he does I remember the time in one of his liveshows, where he couldn't figure out the first notes in Welcome to the Black Parade and just gave up after a couple of tries
43:35 for reference

Nah, no holes broken - considering we have tons of evidence of Dan and Phil sharing socks. (And shirts. And underwear. And apparently onesies are also communal in the deppy household.)papierklemmen wrote: ...breaking holes in the ship

Nope I think there was one with 36 or something like thatGalactic-Howell wrote:A whopping total of 28 Phil mentions in Dan's liveshow. Is that some sort of record?

He started talking about both shows just right before 24:00!PolarFox wrote:Can someone please please tell me a cheeky timelink mention of Haikyuu and Yuri!! On ice? I wanna know what my youtube senpai thinks about my favourite shows of this season
+1 to everything above. Perfect pitch is super super rare, and lots of people confuse perfect pitch with really good relative pitch, which is probably what Dan has.dezzawintz wrote:Thank you hunnyftw and Diyes_Celine!
Just coming in again to say that I don't think Dan has perfect pitch.
I think he means that he has good intonation (or relative pitch), which is similar but not the same. If I were to sing a random note, someone with perfect pitch would immediately know what note it was without having to look it up. A person is born with it. Someone with good intonation would be able to make a very good guess, but wouldn't intrinsically know. It's a skill that some naturally have more than others, but can be developed in everyone; although I think Dan has an unusual and impressive aptitude for it.
The main example I can think of is a Sims video where Dil is playing the violin and Dan says "nice C major scale" but it was a D major scale. A person with perfect would know that it was a D major scale, they wouldn't even have to think about it. The information would be in their brain in the same way that if I were to ask you what number comes after 2, you would know without thinking that the answer is 3.
Also I totally used to do the thing he did of writing notes above the music! It's bad practice but it works. I find that point interesting; this is anecdotal but all the people I know who have perfect pitch found reading sheet music very easy, because they could just be like 'this blob is this sound' in their heads.
I could be wrong and he might well have perfect pitch, but I think he's confused the terms. Also he's right, you should all go and listen to Chopin's Ballad No.1 in G minor because it's pretty.
wasn't there like 47 or something insane last week?majitzu wrote:Nope I think there was one with 36 or something like thatGalactic-Howell wrote:A whopping total of 28 Phil mentions in Dan's liveshow. Is that some sort of record?
Found itAlso there is probably one with more ...who knows

Aww. Sometimes the memory of Dan saying that (in such a fond voice too) just randomly pops into my mind and my day is instantly improved by like 500%. sometimes I wonder if Phil isn't that unusual in being mentioned so often by Dan; but Dan's life circumstances have meant he is an exception. as in, if Dan maybe had a different relationship with his family, and/or worked a regular job and was just chatting around the watercooler in an office instead of compromising privacy to thousands of strangers, whether he would mention at every opportunity the people special to him in that annoying they-can-do-no-wrong-way. he seems like that kind of guy. maybe if his world is a little smaller than an average person's Phil is where all that energy goes.

Either the latter of your theories, or my guess is it's something he does for his own personal enjoyment, or for stress-relief/relaxation or... idk, whatever, the main point being he just doesn't want to "perform" where that's concerned. NGL, the #FUCKOFF reply last week had me cry laughing!JoeAverage wrote:btw does anyone know or has a decent theory on why he stopped playing the piano on his liveshows?
