Recent thoughts:
I mean, this is a gossip site, people are going to discuss certain aspects to death and already cute, pretty concepts about phan have become trivialized and as a game for phan members but not deppy themselves. I don't enjoy celebrating their "anniversary" because it's not their anniversary, it's the phandoms. After a while everything becomes meaningless, picked apart, thrown about and just becomes rotten. I skim over it because I can no longer bear read it. Personally, I want them to be happy and it's not my agenda to define their happiness by my own values, or the phandoms. I don't think they celebrate their phanniversary because it's not really their anniversary, they have a whole life we don't know about and what we think is a large concept of their lives could be complete meaningless. We know a lot about danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil and I know for a fact that they're not together, that they're just best friends. But we don't know the real Dan or Phil, if they are together, not or even completely different people. Maybe I'll always like this wall between the "creator" and "audience" and for them to have some privacy, some special moment in their lives kept sentimental between the two of them. Sometimes my mind is very much kept within the mind-frame that speculation does not exist outside of this forum, but in truth their onscreen "love" has become a brand and nothing really feels sacred anymore. Also that gay penguin couple broke up so love is dead anyways.

I get the argument you're trying to make but here's where my own bias comes into play because as a girl who likes girls, if I see girls saying they love each other, calling each other "bby" and longing for each other my basic assumption would be that they've got something going on. And the fact that as someone with a majority lgbtq friendbase what I see when I look at same sex interactions that seem romantic is the potential for it to be romantic proves my point the other way around too, that people who are conditioned to expect everything to be straight (not because of a specific person being homophobic; just because we are a product of our environment and upbringing) are going to look at two guys being flirtatious and still just assume it's a friendship.

This conundrum actually reminds me of a game I am absolutely trash over, Life is Strange. If you know it, you know what I'm talking about.

I also agree with everything that has been said about phan being a seperate entity. I think it happens with other ships as well, especially fictional ones. If you are always reading fanfiction and seeing art about a ship being real, you subconsciously connect the actual "canon" people with it, whether you like that or not. (see johnlock: moffat says it's never gonna happen and people still believe in their ship... not gonna judge though cause I want to believe as well but thats enough of me being sherlock trash sorry )

She has said Dan's her favourite and I remember her being fond of Joe too, maybe she's not so friendly with Phil. I know what you mean, but I think when we see Phil in his liveshows or leaning back in his chair with his arms behind his head and making snarky comments about Tabitha's guitar-playing, we're seeing more of him and I doubt he's much different from that really.

we the unicorns is such a god awful and personally, uncreditable site. I cannot stand them, they are an embarrassment to actual journalism. It annoys me how they continuously ask her about other youtubers throughout the whole thing instead of asking her questions about her. She sounded quite annoyed with the whole "dan is the dankest meme" part out of all of the whole interview. The part where they asked about why Hazel being talented and her only response is, "because she's friends with me!!" I don't watch Louise much, but would she really say that about one of her friends???
The site is known for constantly clickbaiting so much crap. I honestly do believe they add stuff about Dan and Phil to every article or interview they can so that people will stay on their site longer and link to it. So I wouldn't put it past the people who write these things to add/twist stuff in interviews just to create those sweet sweet clicks and ad rev.
But, I do hope the "demon phannies" don't attack her for a statement like that.
Also, technically "eligible bachelor" is a man that is single and ready to date, not just someone that isn't married. They did not say bachelor, they said eligible bachelor, which is different. So technically, people who don't think Dan and Phil are together, actually do have new "proof" from one of their friends that phan isn't real... even though the source is from a clickbaity site and according to that same friend, didn't even know if Dan still had the same number a few weeks ago when she texted him about watching his live show... I mean I wouldn't take that as proof to be honest and really though, I don't trust anything unless it's directly from dan or Phil. also apologies for my rambling.

If they are together, they are closeted. This, (I feel like I'm saying this a lot lately) does disprove phan a bit, at least for me. How isolated (socially) would they be to have their guard up among friends? You could argue that she's not that close to them, but to call Dan an eligible bachelor? After hanging out with them without cameras?
The tide has been changing lately, it feels. Maybe it's just Tatinof ending, new chapter and that who knows.
