Actually, I think Dan was smart to hint ahead of time that it would be spon because no one had high expectations at all. Maybe they should apply that to DAPG spon. Just, casually say a week ahead of time that they're promoting something soon.majitzu wrote:But we knew it was going to be a spoon video. Ikr damn, I need to get on that.griff wrote:so my initial incoherent and unformulated response to those two videos was just that they've provided an avalanche of new material for the attraction thread

Been wondering that too. But I think it's something they must have talked about, considering it's been going on for so long now. Interestingly, one of the first REALLY explicit mentions was made by them together, as a team, and early on too. I'm talking about early 2014 and the two of them kind of obviously hinting at watching gay porn, on national radio (this one). Hahahaha, I wasn't around yet when that happened and I'll never understand how the phandom didn't just spontaneously combust looking into Phil's eyes. If they didn't have "the talk" before that, they must have after, haha.loststars wrote:I've been wondering since the beginning of this ~more generous~ era, what is Phil's take on Dan's more and more liberal comments.
This was definitely me when I was still a casual Youtube fan. Assuming someone's straight because they haven't said otherwise is heteronormative, but then again assuming someone's gay because they "act it" also feels gross (+ how do I know it's not just clickbait?) I know I used to err on the side of taking the youtuber's personal word for it, because that felt respectful or whatever, but having been around for a while now and watched all of the comings out I've very much moved camp and started to rely on my gut feeling instead, because lmao.awkwardly wrote:ppl are cautious to label someone, not because they view them as straight but they just don't. trust. anyone. anymore![]()

I really enjoyed the danisnotinteresting video, it was very natural and informal and I really liked the layout of it. I agree with you that it was a nice balance between the liveshow and his main videos. I enjoyed the DINOF video too but I just loved he made a side channel video to go with it. Having watched both of them it made me much more interested in watching an anime than it would have if he had only uploaded the first video. I like watching him talk about things he is passionate about. He has such a good way of explaining things and making you want to take an interest in them.syzygy wrote:could this actually be the start of the chatty side channel videos dan's been hinting at for months? i really hope so, because i really liked the feel of that video. it was a nice balance between his liveshows and main channel videos - less of the dinof persona that can be off-putting in the main channel vids but a bit more 'polished' than his liveshows.

I'm a bit confused, did Dan like it or something?karma_yeah wrote:uggghave no clue if this will work.

i dont know 100% what either of their sexualities are. i just know that dan has stated explicitly male and female attraction, he's denied being gay, but nothing else, i mean- c'monN. not straight is all i know for sure.cora808 wrote:This may sound really weird and possibly offensive (whoops?) but the vibe I've always gotten from the two of them, especially having met them, and my experience with friends who are gay and bisexual men and how they generally carry themselves, is that Phil is more bisexual and open-minded. Pansexual if anything. He just enjoys people, regardless of their sex. Dan is more gay than anything, and very possessive of Phil and doesn't have much of an interest in women. I could be 100% wrong, but eh, just vibes.violet-writer wrote:i dnt think ppl say 'glass closet' for dans sexuality but his relationship w phil more. bc lbr, dan is anything but straight (srsly. he talks about guys often enough, that im pretty sure he's out lol)
As much as I hate the word 'gaydar' I think the vibes that you get from people can say a lot, especially in real life vs over the internet. It's like video chatting with someone rather than meeting up with them... there's just something from their personality that you miss out on when hanging out digitally. Even just meeting them for a few seconds can sort of fill in some gaps of their personality that weren't there before.violet-writer wrote:i dont know 100% what either of their sexualities are. i just know that dan has stated explicitly male and female attraction, he's denied being gay, but nothing else, i mean- c'monN. not straight is all i know for sure.cora808 wrote:This may sound really weird and possibly offensive (whoops?) but the vibe I've always gotten from the two of them, especially having met them, and my experience with friends who are gay and bisexual men and how they generally carry themselves, is that Phil is more bisexual and open-minded. i dont really have a gaydar (i kinda believed joey graceffa when he said was straight..the shame..) but i also dont believe it exists? idk, it seems based a lot on stereotypes of what gay people act like. totally contradicting my last statement, i agree w u on the phil thing, he never seemed to want to label himself & his early youtube days he flirted w all the people it seems. hmm.
also, dan. u look sexy with your hair pushed back

May I ask why? (not judging, I'm asking in all sincerity).2old4thisshite wrote:I still believe he's straight![]()

Ironically, the guy who played Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, aka "the guy who looked sexy with his hair pushed back", is gay. One of my friends was his beard for a little while and he denied it for a long time until someone accidentally outed him and he went ahead and just came out officially.violet-writer wrote:

True, it does lower my expectations and piss me off somewhat less, and it's much better than "as-you-guys-know-every-month-here-I-recommend-a-new-book-on-Audible-dot-com"alittledizzy wrote:Actually, I think Dan was smart to hint ahead of time that it would be spon because no one had high expectations at all. At first that's what I thought, but I went back and checked. I was in tweets and replies and must have clicked on "view conversation" because I don't see it now. wheeewwwlilMango wrote:I'm a bit confused, did Dan like it or something?karma_yeah wrote:uggghave no clue if this will work.
