I don't have much to contribute, checking all those lgbt movie recs since being part of that group myself but I never bothered to watch movies catered to it

He said in his live show that he was going to the wedding of some family members he barely knows. Dan won't be going with him, which isn't surprising because if they are people Phil barely knows, they probably know Dan even less.Lobster wrote:
Who's wedding? Bets on whether Dan is with him??
Also, I love this picture

Indeed he has.sentinel wrote:Even if he hasn't rest assured he will bc him and Dan are not above repeating outfits (thank god lol)malday wrote:Has he worn this suit before? it's a nice suit.SquishPhan wrote:

i think most of us were surprised that they own Were the World Mine. it's an objectively bad movie, it's very low budget with atrocious acting and the plot is basically "everyone is gay" au fanfiction. it really stands out among all the mainstream, critically acclaimed movies in their collection.Birdie wrote:The thing is most of the films they own aren't catering to the lgbt community, they're mainstream films that happen to have lgbtq characters. I really don't think them owning a handful of films featuring lgbt characters says a lot about their sexuality. Brokeback Mountain and Kill Your Darlings are so popular even my lowkey homophobic mum has seen them, The Rules of Attraction is a bit of a classic and so on. Compared to their massive collection of action and horror films a few films featuring lgbt characters don't really say much and I actually think it's a bit over the top to assume they're lgbt based on a few dvds on their shelf. I'm not saying they're straight and I actually don't really care but a few films that most people into artsy films have seen don't mean anything
Really? Wow, thanks! Because like, I've not seen ANY of those lgbt movies, not even Brokeback Mountain. It just never came up. So I understand the need for LGBT media but since I never strove to find it, I don't know what's just "gay" and what is made by lgbt, for lgbt. I do know Blue Is the Warmest Color is considered very "made by a straight person", and I felt like Black Swan is kind of the same deal, but I also dislike Only Me & You which is regarded well (from what I've seen), so maybe my critic measurement is broken.Birdie wrote:

Nice to see the plant is doing better since Dan moved it.uglyamerican wrote:Looks more like a Shibe than a cat... And, yea, Danisnotatrollcharlottekath wrote:Ablissa wrote:

This is just my impression, but I always assumed that if the video is edited by Phil, he'll bleep out the curse words; Dan just leaves them in. I have zero scientific proof of this. It's just what I always thoughtpixlexia wrote:Sticker to block the laptop webcam. Genius.
Anyways, so I've been noticing that none of the new gaming videos have bleeps in them for anytime one of them Dan curses. Aren't there several videos from the past that always got bleeped out? I know not all of them, but I could have sworn a good portion was. Wasn't the Sims series always bleeped, or am I going crazy?
I wouldn't say no to just chalking it up to the idea that editing in the bleeps takes a long time and isn't worth it when you're trying to crank out a bunch of videos at once, but I also wouldn't mind getting rid of all bleeping all together.
Dan leaves them in and they aren't edited out unless the video is on Phil's channel (my understanding). Which is fine with me, some of these games just wouldn't be the same unless Dan was cursing a blue-streak.Ablissa wrote:This is just my impression, but I always assumed that if the video is edited by Phil, he'll bleep out the curse words; Dan just leaves them in. Okay. I don't understand how someone would gift their "straight" friend a joke present of an obscure LGBT film that they they cherish and place among their collection of other cherished DVD's, on full display. But okay.papierklemmen wrote: i do agree however that this has nothing to do with their sexuality. someone could have just troll-gifted it to them (i'd disown that friend)

Imo, Phil has probably already given up on censoring swears. I think if he edited a video for the gaming channel rn he would most likely leave them in, providing it wasn't a brand deal of course (i.e. best fiends). Maybe it's just hopeful thinking but he does seem to give less fucks these days.Ablissa wrote:This is just my impression, but I always assumed that if the video is edited by Phil, he'll bleep out the curse words; Dan just leaves them in. i mean sure it could happen, there's lots of ways to interpret almost anything we've talked about on idb from #nohomo to #fullhomo, but imo interpreting *everything* as just bro bffs requires mental hoop-jumping the likes i have not bothered to do in years...papierklemmen wrote:well idk either000dia000 wrote:Okay. I believe Dan said once that he bleeps it only if he feels like it was unnecessary or too much. There's an example of that in one of the Sims(?) videos where he bleeps a couple times, and then on another one specifically says "not going to bleep that one" because apparently he felt like it was deserved for the situation. So there's some kind of mental line he has/had for when he felt like censoring it or not. Which may have gone by the wayside now if Phil is lightening up on it too.jesuisunèléve wrote:Dan leaves them in and they aren't edited out unless the video is on Phil's channel (my understanding).
