clearly they hopped into another parallel universe in which they never played dance evolution in order to film bubble bobble, then hopped back into our dimension to post the video.

Yeah, I think the lgbt+ aspect of their (potential) relationship plays into all of it. Progress is happening really rapidly in a lot of places, and it's easy to forget that just 10-15 years ago 'same-sex' (ahhh the gender binary, not straight?) couples needed to be more careful. They were growing up when offhand homophobic comments still went unquestioned by the majority of British/American society, and that has an impact on you, regardless of where we are today as a society. Plus, as above, homophobia/biphobia is still very much a thing, even if it tends to be more subtle. Even as much as someone who wouldn't label themselves as a homophobe, but would frown at/admonish a couple for holding hands/displaying minimal PDA in front of children can suck, and teach people to be wary of PDA. Farther along the spectrum, one of my friends had balloons filled with sand thrown at her and her girlfriend in a very liberal town in New England in 2014. I've never experienced anything like that, but I still think about it every time I hold my girlfriend's hand in public. It's just one of those things that non-straight/cis people think about more, and even if they never had to hide a relationship from non-internet people, would give them a leg up in being more conscious of how they're acting towards each other and how people are reading them.papierklemmen wrote:re: holding hands, i always think of jimmy0010 who said that even now after his coming out he never holds hands with his bf in public bc they don't feel safe (it was a video on "being gay in 2016" and that while it seems that we've progressed a lot, homophobia is still rampant). so one thing that def wouldn't surprise me is a lack of holding hands pics.
Also aside from some of their 'friends' being super shady on twitter in the past, I think the fact that revealing their relationship would not just being going against Youtube insider norms, but outing them, plays a role. Most people I know in the lgbt+ community respect the number one golden rule, don't ever out anyone ever, and I think most straight people respect that too these days. If common decency fails, there's the fan/community reaction to fear. Someone revealing their relationship would not only get the wrath of those angry about invasion of their privacy, they would get attacked for outing them (rightfully so).
Plus, we can never forget the phan denial number one ally, heternormativity. Whether they like it or not, whether their dating or not, they're given a lot more credit than a guy and a girl in the same position would be given.
it's a useful thing
THANK YOU why arent more people discussing this. This totally broke my brain when I watched the video. I had to actually pause and think about logical implications and timelines for a few minutes. And then I luckily realized that stickers on a board aren't set in stone but can be removedeevee wrote:the dance evolution sticker mysteriously disappeared from their DvP board and y'all wanna argue about if phan is real

My theory is that they filmed one of them first (thanks sherlock) - I'm guessing the bubble one from their reactions to the board etc - then the other and removed the first sticker because they didnt know the upload order yet, so to keep that one open.
Basically they filmed a bunch of games and later curated them (like dan does with his tumblr queue) to create the epic build-up that is gamingmas leading up to...?
...ok wait it's probably the parallel universes thing.

About the sticker-thing: I think that maybe they know that people won't be able to keep up with watching daily videos, so they'll only properly update the leaderboard at the end of Gamingmas, so that it isn't a spoiler for people who want to go back and watch videos they missed?

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a video tonight, Wirrow's just tweeted he's at the Rogue One premier, and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to expect d&p to be there too

I'm still expecting a video today just because after this many days straight I would have expected a tweet from at least one of them if a video wasn't coming.
I mean I could be wrong maybe as they made a point to stress at least half a dozen times they weren't promising a video every day they figured they didn't have to say anything further when they eventually missed a day but I kind of feel like they know their fanbase enough to at least @ reply someone asking that there was going to be no upload that day so the hardcore fans knew not to expect one.
Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I watched yesterday's video again and it still feels me with joy. It's so soft. So pure. All that genuine fondness radiating through my laptop. I can't fucking deal and I can't believe the 'post baking video universe' is actually turning out to be a thing with the way Phil has been acting lately. I hope it sticks.
Joint liveshow. I usually like those (more than their individual ones anyway), but wasn't happy with the last one. I hope Dan will drop the attitude he had going on.. I figure this liveshow will be the last of the year, they'll probably be busy on Tuesday in preparation for Christmas and by Thursday Phil will probably have gone North already. Dan always leaves London far later, I don't see him leaving until Friday afternoon, but at most he'll wrap up editing/uploading Cutemas. Plz no new project announcements unless it's a new radio show (no I'll never stop dreaming).
Gonna watch the Miraculous Ladybug special while waiting for today's video now, if we get one that is...

yeah just to follow up on this--my lesbian friend never, ever holds hands with her girlfriend in public. they're both fully out but feel rly uncomfortable with pda. the way she's described it to me, she feels like anytime she expresses pda, it's a political statement and she doesn't want that to be part of her everyday romantic life.papierklemmen wrote:re: holding hands, i always think of jimmy0010 who said that even now after his coming out he never holds hands with his bf in public bc they don't feel safe (it was a video on "being gay in 2016" and that while it seems that we've progressed a lot, homophobia is still rampant). so one thing that def wouldn't surprise me is a lack of holding hands pics.
my gay male best friend is also openly gay, as is every past bf he's had. but, he only expresses pda when drunk. we go to a super liberal college in the northeast of the US; it often feels like there are more queer students here than straight. but years of socializing him into thinking that holding hands with another man is a radical act and something to be uncomfortable about has definitely made its mark.
i'm bi and my ex gf and i rarely held hands in public, def never kissed in public. one time we casually kissed eachother goodbye and we were still closeted at the time. when we realized what we'd done, we both just about had a heart attack...we both had a full on melt-down at who could have seen.
if deppy are together and never once felt comfortable holding hands in public, that wouldn't be unusual closeted or uncloseted behavior for an lgbt couple. it's easy to underestimate how much queer couples still get noticed, how much they are still othered in public, and how uncomfortable it can be to know everywhere you go, you'll be given a second glance if you hold hands with your partner. plus, they're an exceptional example, since they already have the eyes of thousands of people trained on them/their relationship.

Another video that I really liked.
Though Dan was just being rude.
Poor Phil didn't want to be left behind by Dan.
Phil was once again great in this one.

Well, gamingmas was fun while it lasted. We were on such a roll. What Dan said at the first button press really soured my mood. Oh well.

Phil looks like he went to sleep at 6 AM and is dying inside, Dan glows like he spent the night having orgasms - Ticia

I loved this one! I love press the button but dan and phil are probably the only two youtubers who can make it interesting for me with their banter
plus hearing how they think is always interesting
I agree with Phil, what's so bad about being sparkly? embrace your fabulusness and go fight some terrorists
tbh I agree with Dan about being on an island alone, that sounds amazing sign me up
also psssht I'd smell like rotting meat (even if they got the question wrong it's ok) for money every time I took a breath; this is while I live on my luxurious island alone, and I get everything ordered online

I absolutely loved this.
It was really interesting to see their rationale and reasoning behind certain discussion, eg. the question on travelling backwards in time, how their conversation changed from this being beneficial to eventually dehumanizing. Also, it was hilarious to see Dan outing evil Phil (this is a post-baking universe, he's not a ray of sunshine anymore) and see Phil struggle to justify murdering someone for immortality idk about anybody else, but I don't doubt for a second Phil would "accidentally" knock some poor person into a volcano
Re: Dan saying he would go live on an island without Phil. This is Dan expressing his "brand" and his natural instinct to isolate himself. This is Dan we're talking about, who we've established is very territorial
Lastly: The joint liveshow, the fact Dan hasn't hyped this up as ensuing a "shitstorm" the more suspicious I am tbh

I didn't think I would like this video, but I did. It seemed like they were just going to say yes to everything at first (Which makes me wonder if they will try anything once lol) but then it got kinda "Going deep", which I enjoyed. I really hope someone makes fanart of sparkling Phil.
"btw does phil get the gaming channel in #phandivorce? He really seems to enjoy it and since dan is moving to a deserted island and all....)
I am still torn on whether they started filming these videos months ago knowing they were going to do this, or if they just decided to do it on the first. I think they are only slightly out of order.
Phil's eyes being tired could be because they are filming/editing everyday
But he's been wearing his glasses for days and Dan is just now asking about them?
They referenced yesterdays game...but where is the board? Why did you move it?
They said they had unedited videos saved up a while ago, but those wouldn't have the xmas background?
DvP Board placement is consistent with current timeline up until today. It is in the background for bishi bashi, but not future videos because they moved it to the other room when dancing, it returns for bubble bobble, but now it's gone again? So either they moved it back to the other room for another challenge, or this press the button was filmed before bubble bobble. (I really don't see them taking it from the room for any other reason than needing it, they are too lazy lol)
Last video we know was filmed in real time was Spooky week Oct 30th. Technically they could have had all of november if the impossible quiz vid was pre-filmed, or at least since the twelfth if it wasn't.
Dan's split lip/sickness not being seen or discussed anywhere else. He sounded quite stuffed up today to me.
IDK man! Cute video though.
