Yes to this entire post One of the most worrying things to me at the time was how they always kept deleting old tweets that didn't quite fit in with their narrative. It came to a point where newer fans kept saying we were lying about stuff and that screenshots we had were all fake because the source wasn't there anymore. D&P really took their audience for morons sometimes and I'm still a little bitter about it.

Oh boy, I remember those fans. The only one I still call fake to this day is that screenshot with the captain america shield in the dashboard that was an ask reply apparently from dan himself admitting that he's dating phil. Even now we haven't gotten an admission, so yeah, fake as balls. I remember how people clutched their frills at the idea of the fake Draw My Life we made, but oh boy they did want to see it and viewed it and laughed at it, too. I remember how a lot of the aggressive fans drove our group into the google archive, but OH BOY did they beg to be part of it to see all the "truth" we had, if only they knew the shitposting I remember the phantaray glory days and I remember the harassment of family members, probably by the same fans too

So much pretence back then. Biting the hand while they begged to be fed, too.

Yeah the infuriating thing was that there were fake screenshots out there that seemed even somewhat believable, so when those were proven fake people started accusing real screenshots of being fake as well.

And yes people were total hypocrites. Sending hate to every major Phan blog out there (how dare we have the audacity to see through some bullshit and not be fazed by Dan's temper tantrums right?) but at the same begging for those timelines to be finished and saving all those screenshots to their own harddrives. Hating on Phantaray but lurking anyway to see all the gossip and discussion, and sharing the copy of Voldy they used to have up there with all their friends. I was regular at Phantaray since that blog was first established, I've seen shit lmao.

I remember the fake DITL, people lost their minds over it before they had even seen one second of it. We all gotta protect the grown men from a fucking joke

By goodness, that was cute. I can't believe they called the baby that, though it makes sense it's daft as heck. So bloody cute, and hilarious, when they pregged themselves up with the cushions and kept them there until the end of the video. Great mpreg reference, doubled up and everything. I'm sure the phandom has been needing a new genre if it didn't have it already.

The birth is similar to Sims 2, though less dramatic, they used to crouch down a bit, hold their belly and moan in pain before spinning around and catching the baby. Sims 3 had the option of going to hospital, but they don't have so many community buildings in 4 so I guess they left that out. They also used to get three days leave automatically, there wasn't daycare, but they could hire an elderly nanny or teenage babysitter.

Phil's hair was so soft too, he looks so good. How the heck is he out at a party doing shots and the mannequin challenge while Dan goes home early to edit after two glasses of wine, what sort of organisational skills

This was a cute video!! Dan referenced the 50mph starfish in this so they must have filmed this one after the will you press the button one. Interesting...I would've thought it'd be easier to just sit down and film a bunch of one game (e.g sims) at once, maybe changing their shirts between video breaks. But this was definitely filmed after. They also mentioned the twins and triplets thing...do you guys think that maybe after that, they loaded an old save and got her pregnant without the massage? Because now she has just one baby...After a quick google it looks like no one has a chart of what percent chance there is for how many babies after a fertility massage.... ):

Also, Phil seems to know more about birth than Dan, as he referenced a water birth and was the first to think of taking Tabitha to the hospital. I was wondering if he'd watched I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant until he mentioned that some people have surprise births, so I was right! I wonder if that's one of those shows Dan refuses to watch with him....

However they both seem to have no idea that women work in the nine months that they are pregnant and that maternity leave is for later hahaha bless them

It's so weird knowing Dan was at home working on a video whilst Phil was out partying it up. I hope Dan was okay with this but I guess he was or they would've handled this differently and finished the video sooner or just skipped uploading today. Off to watch the video now.

About that video... why can't people just let it go. The video was a giant mistake, whether it's real or not and Phil has every right to not want it on the internet anymore. Especially since he never wanted it published in the first place, it got unprivated by mistake, did it not? We were never meant to see it so I'm okay with Dan and Phil lying about it (if they are lying, we don't know) for damage control. I'm kind of annoyed by people on Tumblr acting like they have any right to see it or share it or whatever. They don't. He made it, he decided to keep it private for whatever reason and now he wants it off the internet and people will have to accept that eventually. I know they won't though because they think they're entitled to know everything about them no matter what Dan and Phil want.

I do agree with you, but back in the day being contrary to their wishes was a knee-jerk reaction because when you were living in this huge drama, it was so different to now. Back then emotions were flying high, fans were losing their shit and we also had salty!Dan and lying!Phil who were deleting the past in front of our eyes. And then exploding about it when people were coming up to them with the receipts. It was a very intense time to be a fan, and people were pushing back with posting more old screenshots, more dailybooth, more content that they tried to hide

I was not one of the people tracking down old photos and screenshots, but I do remember that time and I saw everything, even if now I may forget some things, but I saw it all, personal photos, photos of his pre-Youtube friends, I witnessed lubegate happening, all that jazz. Whether we like it or not, a lot of fans view the censorship of their past as an indirect "dumbing down" of the fans from that era, as if to say "do you really think we are so fucking stupid as to believe your bullshit that you're trying to save face while you delete every shred of evidence?" all the while the customerservicedepartmentblog was high on drama and "are you literally 12 oh my god" posts. Because the thing is, it wasn't just deppy vs fans, it was also fans vs fans, and newer fans who had no idea what was happening were flinging shit at the ones with the pictures, while simultaneously also begging to see them on anon on tumblr.


What I'm trying to say, I agree with privacy. I really do. I wish I could unsee a lot of things from back then. But something that was SUCH a pivotal moment in their online history will never be erased. Someone won't care, someone will be angry, someone will be nosy, curious. It's the thing I doubt with the idea of all the Youtubers and BBC and anyone they come across covering up the relationship. I don't have enough faith in people to not blab; even Emma and Evan's gossiping didn't spill tea, they just liked pretending to know something we didn't and mock the boys for it. All talk and no action. Someone won't care. Someone will be bitter or salty. Someone may be at the bad time at the wrong place with a camera. The most they can do is stick with their excuse if it's true, or just try the best they can to stand by what they said back then and let it go because it's fake and doesn't matter anyway.

EDIT: In a way I'm trying to say that a lot of fans witnessed history being rewritten in front of their eyes because while yes the boys did address the video and briefly reference old screenshots, a lot of that past was being deleted and the story being rewritten to a cleaner, more "bro" timeline that a lot of fans are familiar with nowadays, or they didn't know of the past. That's what sparked a lot of the anger and the reactionary posting of videos and photos. A lot of blogs now are just archives or are harmless, and it's good as a fan to see the past because it's dirty and messy but it also happened. Deppy managed to rewrite history to fit their angle but that's why the counterarguments exist to say "no, we don't remember it that way and neither do you"

Just wanted to say thanks to both of you for explaining the situation. I think I understand what happened back then much better now and I'm pretty sure I would have been angry about them just deleting everything and pretending it had never happened too if I'd been there for it. I guess I see both sides now and it's not as easy to place blame as I thought it was. I still wish people would stop spreading that old stuff and especially the video (especially newer fans that act like they have a right to see all this old stuff just because, it's just rude) but I guess it's not likely that will happen anytime soon. Thanks for explaining and making me see both sides of this situation!

I find it unusual to see him appear so much and in a drinking environment, as Dan left early I wondered if there was a connection between the two. Maybe I should state my opinion/speculation a bit clearer, just the sequence of events made me suspicious

That was so freaking cute. The two of them worrying about Tabitha's comfort (and her drinking lol) and being so excited to see her get progressively rounder, and then all the cooing over the new baby, and Phil worrying about the baby being left outdoors (to be fair, after his experience trying to take care of baby badgers, I don't blame him for being concerned). I don't think I stopped smiling during the whole thing.
The pillows under their shirts was a nice touch.

Did previous Sims games have a breastfeeding option? (I've played 1 and 2 mostly, but I don't remember that being an option.) If not, that's cool that they added it. I wonder if there's any benefit or difference to the baby in-game if your sim breastfeeds instead of using a bottle?

In the sims 4:
-Both parents can take family leave for up to 3 days after the baby is born, but you have to take it a day at a time.
-If you have Get To Work, which Dan and Phil do, there is an option to have the baby at the hospital. I thought it was a popup, but maybe it isn't and you have to use the phone to travel, or maybe deppy missed it. You don't have to place the hospital in the world because it's in its own mini-world like the science lab is.
-You can hire a nanny to take care of babies and tutor children, they added this is in a free update. You call the nanny using the phone.

This vid warmed the cockles of my heart, which were chilled slightly from yesterday. Very cute to see them trying to understand/sympathize with pregnancy and the look between them when the baby was born was so happy.
