Christmas crackers/bonbons are not a thing in the US? You are missing out. And by that I mean that the whole affair is silly but kind of endearing and definitely a tradition. It's basically a given that the gift inside will be kinda tacky and the joke will be horrendous. But it's all in good fun. And you have to wear the paper crown!
