I know how it feels when everyone is trying to force a positive outlook on you. It really sucks. Melancholia isn't necessarily a "mood", mood is a fluid emotion triggered by circumstances, and you can still have a melancholic personality and be happy or have fun. But people try so hard to stamp out any resemblance to sadness that it feels constricting, as though you're trying to breathe air from another planet. "Be positive!", "just be happy!", it's all pointless nonsense that's drilled into our brains through empty, vapid ~positivity quotes~. And if you can't get behind those faux philosophies, then you probably never will, but that's alright. It's okay.
Huh, never thought I would enjoy or relate to a pewdiepie video quite so much, but that was a good one. I would love to see Dan speak honestly about the topic.

perhaps the reconciliation just needs to be room to express joy freely without feeling you're discrediting the genuine melancholy; and without changing expectations of you in a way you don't invite. fans and dan's response today (though i found it funny, and closer to his dry sense of humour than the recent tweets) have been tending towards black and white, than grey. embrace the greys, people!

I interpreted it as Phil acknowledging the fact that he'd taken the picture, as well as his way of saying "hey! look at this! it's funny!".

Apparently Mark posted a picture to his insta that was supposed to be a joke - it was a fan picture of different youtubers and Phil won a vote of some sort- anyway apparently. Now people are spamming Phil's insta with hate comments and some of them are really gross.
Its only January 6th and apparently this year fandoms have decided to do the most. I'm already tired of all the drama

My daughter showed me this earlier and Phil not being crossed out meant he won whatever it was about.
Eta: Apparently Phil is getting hate from Markipliers fandom for winning. I'm not sure wtf it's about really.

People spamming Phil's instance with blue hearts so he won't see any hate comments from markiplier fans. I wish I wasn't making this up. Phil wouldn't read instagram comments a month after uploading a picture, some people really need a hobby outlet outside of the phandom if they think this is necessary. Honestly, it's one of those situations best ignored, it will sort itself out.
I'd just like to clarify that when I said I was getting sick of Dan's antics I wasn't talking about his tweets being sad. I realize I phrased it horribly. I'm just sick of it being so generic and tumblr lately. I know he gets flack for being too "tumblr" a lot but I never really minded until recently because he would discuss "tumblr-esque" topics in a witty and creative (and genuine) way. Someone before me (I forget who it was, sorry) said it way better than me when they said he's at his most "unfunny" when he says stuff like "black like my soul." Memes are funny and all but it seems more forced lately. Plus I think I'm just sick of everyone making the exact same jokes lately (hey look it's me *points to trash* , drink bleach jokes, ect). I do believe Dan really does get down on himself and his sad feelings should be expressed, it's just how he's doing it? Idek how to explain how I feel, and I feel like it's coming across harsher than I mean it to. I still love Dan! The Christmas tweet wasn't even "annoying" to me, I just kind of ranted about other recent Dan tweets in general since it got brought up.
Also regarding his Christmas tweet being "alone," as someone who has struggled with depression and general sadness (aka staying in my bed and crying to Leonard Cohen all summer), it's so easy to feel alone while having people who love and support you. Unfortunately having a significant other doesn't completely shake that feeling.

I'm certain this is a harmless joke so I don't get the upset in either fanbase but in all honesty I just don't get what the joke is mocking. Anyone who understands care to explain? (Which makes me think US election but that makes even less sense so I'm still confused.)

i don't really know what to expect, but i hope he surprises me and i wish it's not "just" a "this is what i've been up to lately and in other news here's a funny thing that happened" type of video. don't get me wrong, i'm not being negative about these, but my phil-alone favourite videos of the last year were probably the future quiz and the 5$ internet experiment and i kind of hope for something more along these lines? what do you guys think, i'm curious about everyone's opinions now!

i tried to go through the tag a bit and from what i gathered, someone just started by posting this picture of nine photos asking people who to "eliminate" and proceeding to cross out the one which got the most demands each round until one was left. for some reason, everyone started to majorly fuss around a.k.a. start #istandwithethan when he got eliminated. it sounds as if the post markiplier favorited was poking fun at this? but i don't fully understand either.
