I'm not saying his 'I'm not gay' comments are douchey, I'm talking about his general reaction to the video. If it was a prank then there was no need to be so defensive and rude to fans about it

...that's exactly what i don't get. which of his comments on the video were rude or defensive? apart from the infamous last tumblr answer.

Well his Tumblr response is what stands out for me, but then his behaviour around the whole incident which drip fed into 2012 and how he changed around Phil just makes me sad. I'm saying this if it was 100% a prank. Otherwise if it was real then his actions were totally justified and I can't fault him for how reacted.

obviously i can't say for sure, but i thought his whole 2012 era was not just a reaction to the voldy, but a combination of things, e.g. people stalking his family, digging up his old pictures, including the nudes and, as he mentioned, people "connecting the dots" (timelines) and spreading around that "phan is real" as a fact, which prompted the change in how he and phil behaved around each other. the way they addressed voldy separately from the rest seemed pretty normal, at least initially.

... ok i'm having a dejavu now since i'm certain i've read these exact conversations on both gg and here millions of times. time to go back to lurking.

I totally agree and think he had a right to be pissed. Even his mean tumblr answers, I get why he was so mad! But sitting their and acting like being gay is silly/the grossest thing ever while denying it isn't okay unless he was doing it to protect his privacy. I don't have a problem with his general attitude at the time because he really struggled with "fame" and had every right to be pissed at all the different invasions of privacy. He did have a lot going on so I empathize with him a lot.

This is completely OT but the real mystery here (correct me if I'm wrong, due to my ignorance to the old YouTube layout) but it appears that LessAmazingPhil has 247 videos this time? When it only currently has 29? Is this actually the number of videos the user who screenshotted this image watched, the number of videos maybe Phil on this channel has watched/liked himself....? Because it doesn't make sense to me how he could have had over 200 videos on this channel-and only 8 remain from this time period.

Do you know if in 2011, the number of videos included private and unlisted videos? That could explain it if Phil (like other vloggers used to do) used this channel to send private video messages or post videos he was not sure to post on his main channel and eventually just left them there in private setting.

There were at least 40 for one of those interactive stories alone, and he did a few of them over the years (Christmas Adventure, Space Adventure, Ghost Story Game, etc). If I had to make a guess I'd say that youtube might have included all those unlisted ones in the video count back then, but don't now.

metadata is useless, it usually gets removed when you upload it to image sharing sites for compression.

besides, a screencap (print screen) saves no metadata except maybe the name of the program with which it was saved, it's not a photograph.

every version of Ps automatically saved the program name in the metadata, but not more common programs like paint.

Indeed, after a little digging - and an extensive use of internet wayback machine - I found that on December 2012, LessAmazingPhil had 175 videos (admittedly less than the indicated 247 videos but much closer than 29). So I think we can conclude that unlisted videos were indeed counted in the number of videos of a channel back in the days (the missing 99 videos having been delated between 2010 and 2012 I suppose).

Yeah I was searching for the program's name, since I'm pretty sure it's done with Ps if it's edited No such luck though.

Yeah I was searching for the program's name, since I'm pretty sure it's done with Ps if it's edited No such luck though.

Overall I think the screenshot quality is just too poor to draw any conclusion.

If it was faked I'm mad the phannie included that furry shenanigans. Like it's more realistic but if you're going to make a fantasy it should be more idealistic

They caught on to us suspecting that they weren't actually sick or hibernating and instead used it as an excuse to be OOA. Now, we can't disprove or call bullshit on this claim and they'll effectively sneak out into a new home.

In another thought - this also seems to be an excuse reason why Dan won't so a liveshow later as he will be in the process of "evacuating" (ie. sorting out his new storage)

Maybe it's possible they found a new place already and want to move in asap, hence use this excuse to delay videos etc.

I've been trying to do some backwards digging into that screenshot, the three tools more commonly known are tineye, which can be good but eh... not always reliable, Instant Search which doesn't give you a timestamp so that's almost useless but it really finds the most useless pages that may have the image if that's your thing, and using google images

but using google images within a certain time frame gave me these results for the screenshot (I apologise for the tiny letters, yes it's a screenie for ants)

tl;dr I narrowed the search to start from 2010 to 2013 (didn't matter if it was after 2013 tbh) and the first/only results of the screenshot appearing are from GG, idk if that's interesting or not? the origin of the picture in GG was that someone had a pic of the screenie with Ian running over it, and illegal said "here's the original pic" and that's the result it gives

but I can't find anywhere else with the image, from before that thread, is that weird? or is there another version of this screenshot I'm missing? am I even making sense?

I don't know about the screenshot but if you're looking for proof that the comments were real, there's a tweet mentioning them within a couple hours of the video originally leaking in 2011. It is a person specifically saying they have screenshots of Dan and Phil's comments if anyone wants, and offering to send it privately.
