From the end of her 4th Feb video:
There's an exciting announcement next week. You know when every YouTuber makes a video going, "oh my god, an exciting announcement", it's one of them videos. So you've probably already guessed what it is by now.
book on the way, I reckon? (good thing she retracted her comments about youtuber books … right? right? )

This was hardly a surprise, she's been hinting at it for months now. I'm kind of disappointed by the content type though, surely if she has something meaningful to say wouldn't it be better to inject these stories or advice into her channel? What good does it bring to publishing it into a book, and it was probably flop, and then she'll get bitter and the world is out to get her etc, etc. fast forward a year and I wonder if she'll shade herself like "whoops, no, that wasn't a good idea" or whether she'll ghost it, kind of embarrassed. As it is, YouTuber books only do well with a loyal dedicated fanbase, it doesn't matter about the subs, if pewdiepie's bitchiness was anything to go by, he was also kind of salty towards deppy for having a loyal base.

Hahaha oh dear.

Besides that I think it's embarrassing over how scathing she's been before about youtubers who release books, I also think it's highly inappropriate for someone who isn't a qualified mental health professional to provide any sort of self help or advice like this. What on earth is she thinking?

I just can't, smh.

The hypocrisy is truly astounding: I know she says she's changed her mind about youtubers writing books, but it seems pretty convenient that she changed her mind in September, right when she was approached to write the book.

Wow. Yeah, that's not a cool response to Chai tbh. Oh, Emma. I mean, it's cool if she decided to write a book that's her choice, but don't have such a self righteous stinking attitude about it. Just be quiet, write your book and stop trying to get the upper hand when you really don't deserve it. Chai's opinion is pretty justified tbh.

EXCITED!!!

My assignment is to search for every remarks she had regarding Youtubers publishing books. Plus points if I find one where she said "sellout." I can't wait.

But seriously, I just really hate how she'll contribute to this "self-help" genre but her actions contradicts every "help" that she said. I can't wait her to fail. I want to hear her bitch about it. (I am mean. I know.)

Why is she this way? Chai's tweet might have been inspired by her announcement but he didn't even mention her name and it also wasn't mean spirited. There is nothing unkind about it. Would have been easy to ignore. But nooo.

Yes. She does this, doesn't she? Shits on something others are doing or liking until she gets the opportunity to do it herself or starts liking it too. Then it's suddenly the best thing.

why is she so bothered that she feels she has to reply to any negativity.

i cant wait for her book to flop so she can show her true colours.

she will NEVER change. she hasn't changed, and never will.

once a rude bitter bitch, always a rude bitter bitch.

how can someone with so many issues, that she hasn't even got worked out, write a self-help book?

i havent even seen many people tweeting her with preorders, like its not going to go well for her.

she is the biggest hypocrite ever, after all of those things she said about other more successful youtubers releasing books and how she would never do it, but offer her money and she will do it lmao.

she cant make up her mind on who she is. at the moment she's an author.

And even more convenient that a publishing house out of blue offered her a book deal in September for the book she started writing in June.
A cynic would think that just maybe that whole story about the publishing house (who watch all her videos but don't follow her on twitter or they'd have known about her view change months earlier) contacting her after the video was put out was a lie and she really only made that video because she'd signed a book deal months previous and needed to publicly back-peddle on her previous statements in preparation for it's release.
It's lucky were not cynical people around here though and can just appreciate that this series of events has all just been one big lucky coinkydink. :sideeye:

We can't know for sure but I think this is probably true. Nothing cynical about it, it just makes way more sense than her story. I get why she wouldn't admit to this though, it would make her look bad. I'm kind of looking forward to the book and how it's going to be received. I also think it makes sense why she started Vloggery and started making advice videos though. Gotta build up that brand, right?

I don't know how much of this is due to her mentall illness but I agree. Half a year ago she was all about her music and kept promising to concentrate on that, now she's writing a book and hasn't talked about her music for a long time if I didn't miss anything. It's like she thinks people won't remember all the things she wanted to do and then never did? How many projects has she started and left behind now?

And even if we give her the benefit of the doubt and choose to believe she is telling the truth about the publishing deal coming after the September video her motives for that video still look suspect because even if she didn't have a publisher yet she clearly still had intentions to publish her own book in the future because she was already writing the bloody thing.
How ever she tried to make it look in the video the public declaration that YT books are a positive thing did NOT come before her decision to cash in on it too.

And yeah I also get why she wouldn't admit it but as far as lies go it's pretty weak, she makes D&P look like masters in that art of lying. They'd have at least deleted the tweets before the lie.
And good call on Vloggery that is totally a promo channel for the book you're right. :thumb:

Help me out here, what exactly are they making fun of? I think I get it but I'm not sure. :?

What I really don't get is why Emma can't just ignore tweets like this (or just silently like them if she agrees). She said she was sorry and didn't want to go back to her old behaviour and whilst this tweet is of course super harmless she could have just ignored it. It can't be too hard to leave stuff mentioning deppy alone to be on the safe side.

From what I gather, Liam, one of the organisers of summer in the city is bracing himself of the thought that after the whole line up of summer in the city is announced, there will be a lot of dissapointed phandom members tweeting them (or him because last year he was the one who handle the social media accounts) about deppy attendance. And having a laugh at the situation, in a way that he is probably frustrated at it, I think.

But Emma being Emma, jump at the first opportunity to insert herself in the drama.

If you look at the replies to announcements from SITC's twitter before this tweet, people were going 'who?' etc to them and some were people with D&P avatars. But there were also Dodie avatars and other random people avatars. One person in particular (with D&P) was pretty rude, in which case how about call that particular person out specifically, rather than going for the twitter phandom as a whole, Liam. So ok, call out shitty people, great. Pretty much insinuating it's exclusively anybody with a D&P pic being tiresome is a dick move. ESPECIALLY by the hack behind we the goddamn unicorns, the most useless and embarrassing typo-laden excuse for a website around. They don't mind the annoying Phandom's clicks and... overenthusiasm... when it's bringing them traffic to the site for their shitty fucking quizzes-- just about everything they post panders to D&P fans and is meant to get their clicks and attention. So to then go to his personal account to eyeroll over that same fucking enthusiasm is just slimy. You can't put out food for the stray cat one day and then kick it the next, fuckstick.

Anyway, whoops, this is Emma's thread.
She still sucks.

Yeah the second she announced the book, her 'apology' for the whole Evan thing suddenly made sense. Probably realized (or was informed) it wasn't great PR to call a fellow creator a fucking socipath right before launching some bullshit self-help book. Good luck ever reining in this mess of a human. Great choice, publishers.

Getting along with someone doesn't require you to be friends, it might be just that they are friendly and cordial to one another.

Is exchanging social niceties with someone the same thing as getting along well with them? I'm cordial to everyone I'm ever forced to interact with (particularly if they're work related people) but I would not by any stretch of the imagination say I get along well with all these people.
It's just that I'm too polite (or maybe British) to be openly hostile to the people I don't like.

Although I suppose from what we know about Emma she may not understand the concept of social niceties as when she doesn't want to interact with someone apparently she barks for them to get away from her even when at a work function so I suppose it's entirely possible that as long as D&P are not being openly hostile she takes it to mean they like her. Or maybe they do. I personally doubt it but hey it's not impossible (I suppose).

On another note just looking t the last few months in the life of Emma she diagnosed a fellow youtuber as a sociopath in a online video after he revealed a story where she was hostile to him at a YT event. She is releasing a youtube book after trashing other youtubers for doing so and she blatantly lied in her video about getting a book deal after she made a video taking all her negative comments back.
Surely we are beyond the point where she can still pretend that all the negativity she gets is based solely on people are unfairly judging her for events from 2013?
