I feel like I am going around in circles and can't really establish more.
I saw more pictures where all the tables inside were marble so who knows.
All the tables outside, tables for 2 or otherwise are made of wood though.

The picture Phil took was outside.
You can see a sofa not matching any inside in the photo but similar to the one here:

Tables for two outside are also made of wood:

If anyone has anything to add that'd be great.
In the end this proves nothing really other than the fact I am a stalker who has too much time on her hands.
They could've been on a date they might not have.
I'm really fucking sorry if this somehow crossed any lines.

Did not know about that! Good to note.
SexyTrashCan, do you mean you can see a sofa in Phil's picture? I'm missing that.

SexyTrashCan:
That indeed seems plausible! You can see glass in Phil's picture and it seems to be right next to the window, like the tables for two on the roof. Also, if you look at the large tables:
Image
You can see that the tables aren't right next to the window: there are chairs separating the table and the window. So I do think that they were sat at the tables for two on the roof!

Edit: Also, that 'sofa' seems more like some sort of table decoration. Seems like it's on the table, not the floor!

Edit again: Haha, I looked at the image again. Maybe they were sat at a big table next to the window where there wasn't a chair separating window and table? Hmm. Possible.

Yeah my mistake with the sofa, I struggled to see what the object was.
Good observation with the tables!

Wondering, if they were not going as a 2, how many people came with?
The tables outside right against the glass are all for 4 or less.

at Dan's tweet. I'd have been more upset, I got really annoyed earlier while I was drawing when a load of stuff slid off the desk and nearly took a whole load of pencils with it. Losing a meal I'd just prepared would do me in too. But pizza, can't complain about that too far unless you're upset with yourself failing to keep up a low-carb or gluten-free diet

Sorry to be a debbie downer about the Duck and Waffle thing, but it feels like such a stretch to me. Dan mentioned two live shows ago that they'd be going to dinner the next day with friends for an extended Phil's birthday celebration, then in Phil's liveshow two days later he mentioned that two of their friends were sick so they'd had to postpone to the next week. That's such an elaborate cover-story, would they really bother? If they'd wanted to go on a date they could just have not posted about it and we would have been none the wiser. The simpler explanation to me is just that they were out to dinner with friends like they said. Just because the restaurant is known for being a good place to go on dates doesn't mean everyone there is on a date.

On the "cringey" Phandom:
I think I'm actually one of the few "adults" [24 y.o] that would consider themselves as happily part of the "cringey "Phandom. I actually find a lot of the younger crowd more mature and engaging than I am. I guess it speaks of their maturity or of my own inappropriate immaturity, but I do find their enthusiasm addictive. I do try to avoid doing things which I consider rude: stalking specific people that wants to not be associated with Deppy, putting heavily phan-is-in-a-relationship content on the main tag on Tumblr or tweeting them directly at Deppy (basic opinion could be summed with: you can ship all you want and believe in their relationship all you want, but keep it on your corner of the internet), go to creator's YT pages and say stuff like: "I'm only here for Deppy",etc.

But even at this age, I've proven that I can be "cringey" in that I still talk about them to my law school friends who aren't even aware of who Deppy are (Law is a post-grad course in my country and all my classmates' age range from 23-30 ), I have them as my phone background, my personal fb is almost like a glorified tumblr page to them (because I almost have nothing to post about as my life is consumed by books and cases), I tweet @ them (but never Phan things, just a general reaction to whatever they're tweeting), I do watch reaction videos to them (I find others reacting weirdly interesting), click on the clickbaity titles and thumbnails with them in it (because I find it amusing how some other YTers are desperate for the views, become curious about their own content, and there's this irrational fear that if I don't do that it means Deppy's losing popularity), read phanfics a lot (Kudos to all the wonderful authors), watch phanvideos, etc. I reblog and revel in the phan moments in videos.

I haven't seen them so I don't know how I'll react. But I went to a concert of my favorite Kpop group and although I promised myself that I wouldn't scream and be embarrassing, that flew out of the window quickly as the crowd's enthusiasm drew me in and I found myself screaming myself hoarse and singing along with the crowd to my Kpop group's songs.

I don't know if it's because I'm in a bad place in my life right now and have been using Deppy as a crutch. Or maybe it's because I haven't been on the "real world" yet (since I'm still safely snuggled inside the academe), and thus haven't had the full-on adult experience of being with responsibilities. Or maybe it's just that I'm still very much immature, but I could relate a lot to the cringey side of the Phandom and find myself amused and going along for the ride most of the time. I've been in a lot of fandoms before but I find the Phandom most enthusiastic which encourages me to be in it and engage in conversation about them more.

I'm not really sure about what this post is trying to convey. Maybe that being part of the cringey phandom is not at all age-related? Or that not everyone is put-off by it?
Edit: putting it under a spoiler because I realized how long it was.

I wanted to post about this when i saw it floating around tumblr but wasn't sure if it adhered to the forum rules, but yay it does
I'm torn on this. On one hand, Dan planting the seeds for the dinner, then Phil saying it was cancelled would be the perfect way to get away with said Valentines Day dinner date. However, this would be pretty risky thing to do- just the two of them getting dinner the night after Valentines Day? They would be heavily relying on the fact that nobody who watches them would be at a 4 star restaurant in London to spot the two of them out together. And if they were spotted, this would be pretty hard to explain away.
BUT something that I did notice was Phil posted the picture at 11 pm. Assuming they got dinner at a normal time, then that would mean Phil waited until he got home to post the picture. Now, the most logical explanations would be just that he was at dinner and didn't post until he got home- but if they're as sneaky as some of us are assuming they are, this could be to make sure they were not spotted out together- before THEN saying they had gone for his birthday dinner? Yes I know this is a stretch but I just like playing through different narratives.

OR there is theory that Dan and Phil were, in fact, getting dinner with friends for Phil's belated birthday just like they say.

But the story that I think fits best is that they were out for a Valentines Day date with another couple? Stick with me here. Dan plants the seed a few weeks back that they are going for a birthday dinner with friends. Phil then tells us that they had to cancel because their friends got sick. Then, the rescheduled date just happens to be the day after Valentines Day. The plan is foolproof, except of Phil's forgetfulness that this fandom should be working for the FBI. If they were to be spotted by fans, there would be no awkward explanations- they had already put it out there that they were going out for a dinner with friends. What they weren't counting on was us figuring out the place they were at, a place that is known for being romantic. I don't know if my theory is strange, is it weird/abnormal for couples to do a double date on Valentines Day? The only reason this narrative even crossed my mind is because this year my parents actually ended up going on a double date with their friends (who are a couple) a few days before Valentines Day because of both of their busy schedules, and to avoid the stress of booking a reservation on the actual day. Deppy are pretty laidback so I don't think this is out of the realm of possibility? Just thought I'd put the idea out there: they could have gone on a double date, but planted the seeds beforehand to avoid awkward explanations *flashback to Dan in 2014 about Cirque Du Soleil*. Maybe (probably) I am giving them too much credit, I just think its a little too coincidental that the restaurant they chose the day after Valentines Day for Phil's birthday celebration is one that is renowned for being romantic. Anyway, sorry for rambling I hope I made sense, I'd love to hear anyone elses opinion- maybe my phan goggles are on just a little too tight. :D

...I'm actually really glad that I found Dan and Phil. I have been in fandoms before (KHR, PJO/HOO...), but I've never been as involved in a fandom such as this. I never joined in forums before, so I'm really glad that I found this place because it's like I'm a part of something big?
There are people who refuses to associate themselves with the "Phandom" because they're ashamed to be associated with that "one fandom that consists of screaming teenage girls". I've been a part of the "Phandom" before I even found this place, and when I found this... it just makes me happy that the Phandom isn't what other people thought it was. I think that they've been only on the Phandom-side of Tumblr that are very vocal about Deppy, so... I think that they'll change their mind once they find this forum

I never ever, ever, ever want to see another photo of a waffle again. But- I have found some new info on the Duck & Waffle pic!

Separated into sections and under cuts bc not only are these pics uggo as heck but they're big too

1. The 'Object'- Revealed!
Image

I can confirm Dan and Phil buttered each other's bread if you know what I mean! ;D
It's definitely the butter/jam holder you can see in the right corner of this picture, right down to the butter bowel.

Image
2. Dan and Phil Go Outside (Or Not!)
Image
I'm pretty diddly darn sure they're inside and at one of those big tables that seat like 4-6. There's more than enough room for a chair there.
To explain why I think they're inside- all of the tables outside are made with wooden planks with notable gaps between them, whereas the wooden tables inside have no spaces between the wood they're made of. Plus, tables outside seem noticably more orange than the ones inside, and Phil's is more brown than orange even with the flash.

(which btw if I am right and they were inside, Phil totally took a flash photo inside at night. Which I find hilarious for some reason, wonder if he'd be the type to take a flash photo in a darkened movie theatre just before the show lmao)

Pic for reference of the tables I think they were at, there were pics posted further up of the outside wooden tables (and the same inside wooden tables with chair space by the windows) if anyone wants to look for themselves. I'd add more here but honestly this post has enough photos already.
Image
And then the most interesting thing I found out while staring at endless pictures of fucking waffles:

3. EXPOSED: Physics Don't Work in the Duck & Waffle!
On first glance you might have been fooled into thinking this photo made any sense at all. This was, of course, a complete illusion.

Lets get closer
Image

What... on earth is going on here.

Image
graphic design is my passion
Is it a round table that disappears into thin air, floating quietly while holding up their butter and jam?
Is it a random, singular, uneven plank hole going the opposite way of the wood grain that disappears into the night?
Is it a weird knife? Is it an ugly ass photoshop job?

Is it Phil's wife?

(my bet is on weird butter knife? but it also looks like a glitch in a game where the table phased through the window and we can see a bit of the night sky through the wood. so... idk)
And thus concludes my investigation. I only ever seem to delurk for stuff like this lmao love you all talk to you next time there's a sherlocking topic

squishydanny My phan goggles are perpetually on too tight too, but I think in this instance it all just feels way too conspiracy-theory-esque (definitely a word). It's way more complex to try and explain it as a date than it is to explain it as dinner with friends. I still maintain that if they'd wanted to go on a date they would have just done that and not worried so much about how to tell us that they planted seeds in Dan's liveshow over a week prior. Like someone else said, they've taken Cat there before. Was that because they wanted to have a romantic dinner with her? Probably not, more likely it's just a lovely restaurant that they enjoy eating at. If they'd gone on actual Valentine's Day I'd maybe give the theory a bit more credit, but tbh I don't get the impression that they care enough about the holiday to even go out for dinner when the actual day is already over. The circus thing you mentioned in 2014, as well as that time Phil posted about the 'belated birthday present Dan got him' on February 15th 2011 are more interesting to me, but I really don't think this was anything other than what they said it was: birthday dinner with friends that had to be postponed by a week since they were sick.

Also adonais your post was amazing and your captions on the images made me laugh a lot, brilliant investigative skills, I am very impressed

Uh from what I understand Duck and Waffle is just a normal eating place in London that's very popular because the food is good? It's also one of the "must try" places for tourists when they go over, so I'm not sure how it becomes coded as romantic here - like it signals that Dan and Phil being there mean they're on a date (especially when they've taken Cat there before and also explicitly said they're with friends though yes they could be lying and then it's a whole other circle again isn't it) - I don't mean to be a downer though!

As to the recent post on maturity, I don't think fangirling type of phans are immature at all haha. It's fine for people to be heavily involved in fandom - it's just that for Dan and Phil I don't feel that way hence I hesitate to call myself a "phan" as opposed to being a casual fan in that sense? I sort of feel like there's a difference between a fan who watches their videos and a phan who specifically knows all the research/tumblrs/whatever else there is besides channel videos and liveshows heh - but that's my opinion. And as someone else has mentioned, there shouldn't be a hierarchy at all - everyone is free to enjoy D&P as they please and that enjoyment is equal across the board

(first post woo )

While I wouldn't put it past them to come up with such a scheme to make a post-Valentines dinner date less obvious, I feel as though it's more likely they're telling the truth about going with friends. The fact that they had to reschedule, meaning they made a reservation merely one week (or less) in advance for a fancy restaurant, made me doubt that they went with friends initially. But it turns out that booking a table there for anywhere from 4 to 8 people is pretty easy to do on short notice. Looking at the current availability for this upcoming Wednesday (the same day of the week their plans were scheduled both times) which is now only 3 days in advance rather than the week they would have had, there are still tables available. I suppose that alone doesn't prove much, but it does suggest that what they've told us is entirely possible.

Also, I noticed the only available times (assuming they were going as a party of 4) are quite late. I checked the availability for each day until the 12th of March (3 weeks from today) and only 3 of the 40 available time slots fall before 10:00 which are 9:30 and 9:45 tonight (I'm guessing due to cancellations) and 9:45 on the 1st. I can't imagine them spending any less than an hour at the restaurant, so it seems very likely they were actually at the restaurant when Phil posted that picture. Judging from the reflection in the glass, it looks like the photo was taken before they got their food, and 10:45 happens to be the second most commonly available time slot (10 of 40 available times), with 11:00 being the most common (11 of 40). It would add up for them to arrive at 10:45, get their drinks soon after and compose the tweet for 11:00 We obviously can't say with certainty since it's not impossible that they managed to make an earlier reservation, or they could have been with more than 2 other people, but Deppy still being at the restaurant at 11:00 does seem slightly more likely than not. I really don't think giving away their public location with some detective work at nearly midnight can hurt them in any way, but it's still a bit interesting that they would do so regardless. Although maybe they have in the past too, I've never bothered to take notice

The available reservation times at the time I looked them up, just in case I worded it poorly:

Holy crap you guys.
So Deppy were inside, and there is a mysterious figure in the photo.
I mean that could be anyone from Phil's secret wife to Dan to one of the actual friends who they went with.
I'm kind of curious what they'll say about the meal in their livestreams now.
I find it hilarious that you could all be some of the world's top detectives but instead spend your time figuring out whether Deppy are having the sex.
