Tom pokes fun at Phil's age.

The lag is real. :( I need to pause it.

Don't even think it was about Phil's age, but just how long he has been making vids on Youtube. At least that is how I saw it. Still some good bants.

Sad Mum at the Bristol signing...that could've been me, except I'm not sad! Weird to think they did a signing at a place I know really well but before I was a fan...I hope they come back one day :D

That host is so bad at controlling the interview and unfunny. I'm facepalming in sync with Dan.
Love Dan's shirt.

Didn't see Phil's answer.

Dan: The single most messed up I've ever been from a fan I counted was at a book signing in Bristol from an emotional mum, whose kids were having a rough year but were cheered up by their videos, "it's not like you're super man", "I can't complain about anything" (about quality of content) #sadmum

Bernie Sanders moment (bird) "Goodbye Susan"

No politics. Dan admits Kanye West would be a horrible president. Sad mum has become a horrible meme.

YouTube used to be a niche website for nerds, like Phil. 2013 became mainstream because of social media.

"My favorite color is black, or is that just the absence of color?"- Dan
"Greeny-blue"- Phil
"That's turquoise"-Dan

"I have no plan" - Dan
"I'm going to try to catch that bird and make it my pet"- Phil
"RIP"- Dan

"Go you, believe in yourself, stay hydrated"- Dan

i got to catch the end of it. i really liked dans sad mum story, it annoyed me that the interview guy trivialized it. dan seemed bothered as well. not sure who he was, but he was really offputting to me haha. i love julien though so it was so fun to see them with him!!

That panel was very meh. I think it could have been better with a different host/moderator. Not a fan of this one.

I liked what Tomska had to say about communities. And how we are all still individuals and responsible for our own behavior.

Also I'm glad that Dan knows that Kanye West would not be a good president.

I wanna strangle the host. He is so bad at this. Why do they always get him????? It's a wasted opportunity.

i'm not sure why they don't self moderate, if they just answered questions they could steer the conversation on their own like they would in a live show or a q&a on their channel? or have a separate youtuber do it like tyler oakley or something. he made me uncomfortable the entire time, sad. :(

I had to run to do lunch, so I had the stream paused and watched all of that panel just now. The host...eeeh. He rushed through the audience questions and didn't let the panelist interact with each other organically. Who is he anyway? I think he hosts a lot of these things. The infamous 'phil trash number one' was also hosted by him, wasn't it?

The sad mum story was sweet, I like that it's the one moment Dan chose to highlight. Other than that though, mostly kind of boring IMO.

That host is the same bro-ey douche that hosted the comedy panel that other year and kept bringing it back to Dans looks for applause (I think he's pretty old school YT? He's popped up in some jacksfilms stuff), I wonder if they agree to these panels not knowing who the mod/host is beforehand. That guy can't read a room properly. I'd rather Tom played that role instead, he would have been better on every level (the main one just making it interesting and engaging rather than stilted and weird, like bro come on).
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

thoughts on the panel:
-phil looks so tired
-dan agrees with tom on individuals taking responsibility for their actions/not stalking
-'phil's peak was in the 60s' this joke seems half funny, half mean
-dan seems to genuinely consider the stuff about authenticity/showing multiple sides of your personality, and phil looks 100% done with it
-the moderator is unfunny and mildly rude, also sucks at steering conversation towards meaningful comments

The question addressed to Phil and his answer got cut off, hope someone who was there recounts what was said.

the panel should have been self moderated. all 5 of them had interesting stuff to say and i'm sure they could have handled asking each other questions. i'm one of those people who absolutely HATES CROWD PARTICIPATION ESPECIALLY AUDIENCE QUESTIONS they are so unnecessary and take up wayyyyy too much time that could have been for indepthbants

Very much agreed. The authenticity reactions were interesting. It does seem to be something Dan is consciously striving for, whereas Phil seems to only want to show the positive side to himself (he won't film if he's in a bad mood). I hope someone can reccount Phil's answer re:inspiration, though we do have one in the book (LonelyGirl15 and vloggers, Smosh, AndrewBravener and CommunityChannel). However his answer could have been completely different today, not a who but a what or why.

Boo host, boo.

(Yay spork, that's much better)

here's the periscope of the whole thing
The question about what inspired Phil is at 19.30 And agreed whith everyone, that host was just the worst.
I remember him from last year and the situation was pretty much the same... I think he was the one who suggested fangirls should stalk Dan if they want to get married to him?

Haven't watched the whole panel (doing that now) but does anyone besides me kinda thinks that Phil's posture is getting a bit better?

Looking at them entering the stage of the playlist live panel Phil's back looks less bent? Idk maybe it's just the jacket or me imagining things but is exercising helping ? (Maybe he is secretly seeing a chiropractor)

Phil secretly seeing a chiropractor would be amazing. Like, I genuinely hope he is, because his posture is going to give him some serious issues if he's not trying to take measures to correct it.

I've just re-watched the panel on the livestream (you just have to rewind it back a couple hours or so) and there are no lags and the audio/video is of decent quality. The host was so annoying, it bugged me when he kept deciding to re-interpret the questions. It was great to see D&P but, other than the Sad Mum moment, there wasn't much of note.

EDIT: Phanshows has just uploaded the panel:

Just finished watching the PL liveshow...

Really liked the fact that Tomska mentioned "Dan and Phil crafts", it really needs to be more acknowledged as the masterpiece it really is.

Some things that got me bothered about this panel:

-The whole making fun of sad mom by the host, like you can see that for Dan it was a very meaningful interaction and he just made it a complete joke.
-Tomska saying Phil's time already peeked and him passing him in subs, BUT ik it's his sense of humor and he is not saying it in a mean way so I'm just mildly miffed and will probably not care as much later, I just needed to say that at the moment it made me laugh in an angry way.
-The host again interrupting the girl (who I don't care for nor know but it's still a person) the moment she was talking about her "getting in YouTube cos I wanted to be an actress story", ik she said "tits" on a pg13 panel and that's a no no, but he could have handled that better.
-Changing the questions and ignoring some (the political one got ignored and the person had to pass the mic to another person but the "how is your hamster" person got to ask another question right after the first :sideeye: )

Edit to add:

Haven't watched it yet because my tolerance for enduring watching panels isn't very high but I too am very excited by the concept of and Julien (and/or Jenna) talking about animals or anything really and can they please be on their podcast and/or visit their house and play with the dogs yes thank you okay bye.
