[offtopic]As for how they're treating her in general, they seem to be treating her more or less the same way that they would treat a man. There's a very interesting phenomenon that I'm reminded of though (very interesting if you're a nerd like me anyway ). Studies have shown that most people actually view egalitarian men as misogynists (you can see this a lot in feminist groups, who often call "egalitarianism" as anti-woman, but most people do it internally even if they don't identify as feminists). D&P behave more egalitarian despite calling themselves "feminists", so it follows that some people would view them as a little sexist.[/offtopic]
Actually, this is pretty much how I see them as well. I find that most of the time they don't make a big deal out of gender roles, unless the situation calls for them to make a statement, otherwise they treat everybody the same. This includes also making fun of Tabitha's character. I think some people want them to be particularly sensitive to female characters while other people (me for example) find it disingenuous or demeaning if they were to continuously make statements like
women can do anything. It just sounds condescending.
I didn't find the phrased statement Dan made in the last Horse Prince video to be this, but other people did due to of his poor choice in tone. Of course, them making these statements at appropriate moments (that I think they have) have been nice and refreshing. Yet, I personally like how they make fun of Tabitha and she isn't safe from their ridicule. I love when she's the butt of the joke, that we get a laugh out of the ridiculousness of her character, instead of her being this perfect trophy wife, she's like an actual
person and not someone they dress up to make look pretty and for Dil to make kids with.
EDIT: His new icon looks like an edge lord who sets their profile picture to Filthy Frank. I hope it inspires everyone out there to pick up the edge and change their profiles to Dan in frames.
And I also saved a picture of Dan in similar frames from last year from a M&G, I didn't think it would be so relevant again.
