a self-deprecating introduction

HI ALL, it me, greatnessflicker.

Okay, so I took a self-imposed break from gg back when I accidentally spoiled undertale for everyone to work on my thesis (*ehem*), then I went back to make an off-topic post ignoring all the weird red-lettering and angry capitalized posts, REALIZED that something major happened, and joined up here after seeing a somewhat censored but still deciphrable link back on GG.

Then I proceeded to make an off-topic thread in the main D&P forum here without realizing that this forum is better organized than GG and already contained several off-topic places. SORRY I keep messing up lol. Hopefully that thread will be deleted soon.

Anyways, I was about to put myself into another cone-of-shame when I checked my pms on gg to leave that site once and for all and I saw that several of you had messaged me giving me the link to this site. It really made me feel welcomed and a little less embarrassed, so thanks for caring enough to want me around here < 3

Other than messing up online and embarrassing myself, I study English, consider myself new to D&P (September), and enjoy many things. (Mostly Wes Anderson films and Sufjan Stevens. I like to pretend I'm not a stereotype but I am.)

"Greatnessflicker" is a reference to a popular T.S. Eliot poem. Again, I'm a walking stereotype. That said, though, I'm all about new movements in the literary world that challenge the canon, copyright laws, conceptions of "good art," and all that other junk that seeks to keep literature a gated community. Down with prescriptivism!

GG seemed to hate tumblr but I enjoy it and have had my tumblr for six years. Before that, I did a bit of lj and before even that I was really big into Harry Potter forums. I think forums are an under appreciated internet medium and I love how in-depth we all go into D&P, so, sincerely, thanks again for having me here.

I'm definitely glad you made your way here! If you're curious about all the drama, there's a multiple page long "What happened on GG" thread that gives a good summary of the weird, wild ride the past week has been for users of that forum.

(And I love that you made such a detailed intro post, because one of the best things about this new forum move imo is that everyone gets a chance to actually introduce themselves now and it's not just some intimidating situation where you're faced with an ongoing conversation you're not really sure how to break into and have to either work up the nerve to message someone privately to get to know them or just gradually piece together information and an idea of their personality from little crumbs in a thread bout youtubers. Though maybe that just makes me sound creepy and like I want to stalk you all... or maybe I do...)

You are an inspiration to me Plus I've enjoyed your work from other fandoms I'm into, namely Teen Wolf, Lost, Community, Glee, etc

Currently making my way through the GG thread and what happened seems to be a trainwreck. It was a bit disorienting but I'm sort of not surprised considering previous arguments that have broken out. Either way, I'm glad for the move. We can start fresh somewhere not linked to a site that has a pretty bad reputation as it is.

Part of my detailed post might be an inability to filter, BUT, I agree! I'm catching up on everything and this place seems to be much more inclusive and more geared to developing relationships with one another. There's so many new topics to just have casual conversations and get to know one another. Thank you for reading all of my post.
