thatdanandphilguy, 100% agree with you, it really depends on how you are as a person/how you were raised and it also can depend on how your friend's parents are as people, too. personally I'm usually rather on my "best behavior" around my best friend(s)' parents, too, simply because I'm a very anxious person who tends to overthink. even though I've known all of my best friends for more than a decade, I still can't say I'm comfortable enough to be completely relaxed and more myself around their parents.

i think something dan (and phil and a lot of people on the internet tbh) do is think of something during a situation that can be easily turned into something relatable and shared onto the internet. it doesn't necessarily mean it's exactly how he's feeling in that exact moment. i'm sure there are definitely things dan does differently when around the lesters like probably no cursing. but i can't imagine after all this time on vacations with them that he doesn't feel comfortable or able to relax around them.

imo this is another one of those Relatable Tweets that everyone has experienced in one way or another.

i personally love that he wants to let everyone know he's sticking around for lester's visit.

I haven't had a chance to go through most of this thread yet (curse you, work, getting in the way of my fandoms), but yes, this! I had the biggest smile when reading through those tweets. I don't know if 'the bbq phil dropped was for dan's grandparents' theory's been debunked, but it's interesting that dnp keeps telling us that they're sticking around when the other's family visits.

Honestly I've known my best friend and her parents for 20 years but I'm tooth achingly polite towards adults (like actual adults not that fail adult I am lmao) anyway so I am to her parents as well. It's definitely also a awkwardness and anxiety thing, in my mind by being a polite and perfect as possible I minimize the chance of fucking up and them thinking badly about me. They're quite strict as well so it really just works in my favor. My best friend however has a super casual relationship with my parents, especially my mom. She'll come around my house while I'm still out running errands and fix herself a drink in my kitchen while openly talking to my mom and I'm barely able to get myself a glass of water at her place. Like others have said, it all depends on the people involved.

I'm mostly surprised at Dan having never mentioned this before I guess. I mean after all the trips with Phil's family I kinda imagined their relationship to be casual and carefree from both sides but appaz Dan ain't quite there lol. Or maybe it's all ~a lie~ and just an excuse for a relatable™ tweet. Either way it's cute. The way Dan is always involved in Lester family get togethers is cute. Everything is just really cute.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet bc I've only skimmed the last few pages, but are the Lesters staying at deppy's? I think I saw someone mention that they were staying with Martyn and Cornelia but it seems like they'll be there tomorrow, too? Even though the obvious answer to this is that they just drive over to deppy's in the morning, what if they are staying with them? they don't have a guest room as far as i know, and sleeping on the couch seems pretty impractical for a large man. I hate to add to the bedroom discourse but this was just in the back of my head and I'm curious.

adding on to the being-on-your-best-behavior-in-front-of-your-friend's-parents thing, I've always tried to be more respectful but casual at the same time, although I do get anxiety when it comes to that kind of thing. So, since we're lacking content and are still wondering about #thatweekinmarch, I thought I'd create some content to keep the discussion going! I counted the amount of videos that were uploaded this year by the guys (excluding LSs/side channels) and also included collabs on other channels*. My theory was that less gaming videos would mean that they are busy and something might be coming. And indeed, there has been less D&P-only videos and the collabs aren't much work for them aside from filming, especially when they are bulk-filmed like the Anthony stuff that was all shot in one day.



But my biggest surprise is that March was full of videos, especially gaming videos. There were even more than in April, where they were travelling and moving. So, how busy were they exactly during #thatweekinmarch? Or did they just bulk-produce twice that month to keep us from becoming suspicious?

* I am not sure if I remembered all the collabs since the DD is outdated. Here's my data; please lmk if I forgot anything (probs did)[spoiler][/spoiler]

And best behaviour doesn’t really need to mean something extreme. It’s more like cleaning up your language, not talking about all the same subjects you can talk with your friend, being generally more polite and serving to people who are guests in your house. You might let your close friend make their own coffee/tea when they visit you, but usually with people you don’t see that often you make it for them.

Haha exactly, for me, I put on "best behaviour" with anyone but my closest friends/family.

Even when uncles and aunts and grandmas visit me I do it. It simply means not being gross & sitting on a sofa with your limbs everywhere and dropping crumbs of whatever you're eating all across the house
And of course, serving the guests, I guess that's what he meant.

On a related note, I rewatched Dan's last liveshow last night with the husband (mainly because I wanted him the hear the emo stuff). And I had the same thoughts that I did the first time around, which I don't think I shared here: when Dan said "the sole reason" he doesn't want to show his bedroom is because of its lack of houseplants a went off in my head.

He mentioned the lack of plants and their importance as an aesthetic like half a dozen times. If I were analyzing a ls like literature (which I get it's not) I would say that plants are a metaphor for Phil. Curiously someone in the chat mentioned that there are plants that can survive without sunlight and he asked if there are humans that can, which yeah he was probably referring to himself to be relatable but... And the keeping the curtains drawn could be a metaphor for the privacy of their relationship. Or of course I could just be reading too much into this. Thoughts?

Still curious why he even did the ls there. He mused about possibly doing more ls in his bedroom and about changing where he films his videos and the possibility of eviction.

Nyargh!! I'm so excited about the survey results. Gimme dat analysis, I am here for it. I'm already fascinated by the significant uptick in discovery of both D&P in 2015 and am curious what the breakdown of just the 2015-ers is for how (and why, but that's not really a question) they discovered them. Like - was it just the significant increase in promo content (for the book/movie/tour) all over the internet that did it?

In other news, I'd really like Dasher & Dancer to release a gaming video today.
