The talk with Osman seemed really nice. It's good to know that not only did he watch the interview with Dan, Phil, and Sue but he also thought that they touched on important points. I haven't commented on the interview but I've watched it three times already mainly because it's nice to hear their opinions and insight into how they view their place on the platform. I liked hearing that someone who was there, not as a fan, also enjoyed the discussion.susan2 wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 7:27 pm Dan and Phil got a mention on The Media Podcast by none other than Faraz Osman who called them "two of the biggest talents in the world" :insert continued illuminati triangle here:

This is something I was so hoping to see.susan2 wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 7:27 pm Dan and Phil got a mention on The Media Podcast by none other than Faraz Osman who called them "two of the biggest talents in the world" :insert continued illuminati triangle here:

I have yet to listen to the podcast but I've been thinking, is it possible that maybe dan and Phil were hired as influencers for youtuber talent? As in a company(lemonademoney) hired them to talk to the industry about how the internet is shaping the future of entertainment. Companies do that all the time and considering Dan and Phil have done many different fields in the industry as it is, I'd say they're a bit more than qualified to talk to the industry about it.malday wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 9:04 pm I think someone suggested it before, but listening to that podcast, especially the part about getting new talent out there, i agree with the idea that the thing they did in February that we "might or might not see" was a pilot for a show they are trying to pitch.

rizzo wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 6:57 pm In fairness, we wouldn't analyze bedrooms, develop moving conspiracies, judge haircuts, question travel timing, or discuss someone's sexuality on the street either.
I can see how this can make some people uncomfortable, but in my (very personal) opinion, it's really no different than anything else we've done or discussed. Phil wore some very loose, unforgiving shorts in a live show and a conversation occurred much like it would if we suddenly saw a tuft of chest hair again.
i think the difference here is that they choosehow much of their living arrangements, haircuts, familial relations they share with us and we rarely get things by accident - and when we do, like with some moving or travel things, people do express discomfort over those being talked about too much because while it is a forum with speculation, a lot of us do feel things like family or mental health cross a line. talking about parts of someone's body that they chose not to intentionally show and speculating over it when you accidentally get a glimpse, whether or not it's in jest, creeps me out massively. i know they are used to it on twitter and stuff but that's why i avoid those places, being the topic of sexualised discussions over videos or photos of you taken when you were unaware or when that was not the intent is really gross and idk, i kind of thought idb was a little above that kind of stuff? ah wellqueerofcups wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 8:47 pmlol bless y'all. as if us making some silly jokes about the presence or absence of a dick is somehow more invasive than us dedicating hundreds of thousands of words speculating about their personal lives--including closely held shit like, oh, their sexualities, romantic and familial relationships, their business choices and y'know, their weight, their health, their mental states.
i never even thought about this before lol, that makes sense. i wonder what it'd be like, what the demographic would be... they have a lot of show potential but idk what would actually play out wellmalday wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 9:04 pm I think someone suggested it before, but listening to that podcast, especially the part about getting new talent out there, i agree with the idea that the thing they did in February that we "might or might not see" was a pilot for a show they are trying to pitch.
especially because their interview has exponentially more views than anything else on the festival's channel, lol. I looked at the comments on the video a few days ago when i finally had a moment to watch it and i was sort of impressed by how (some of the) viewers were engaging with the questions posed. if anyone is interested, there was a panel comprised of people who work in television discussing ~why young people don't watch tv~. the contrast is astounding.bookfiend wrote: Mon Aug 28, 2017 9:42 pm
Even people in media attending or watching that vid who'd have had little to no clue on who they were would at least be intrigued by them now, and they've certainly left an impression on others.
